Attacking Marco Rubio

The Washington Post has chosen to launch an attack on Marco Rubio because he may have gotten part of his parents’ life story wrong. They put the story on the front page of the Washington Post.

Barack Obama, trying to push health care reform, screwed up details about a central story he used to get his package through Congress. Likewise, Barack Obama claimed his uncle had freed Jews at Auschwitz. It did not happen unless Obama’s uncle was a member of the Red Army. The Soviets freed Jews at Auschwitz. Obama, in Selma, tried to tie his father’s life story to the Kennedy family, claiming his father came to America on a scholarship from the Kennedy family. He also claimed his father fought in World War II.

In 1988, Joe Biden was forced off the Presidential trail when it came out he had plagiarized a speech by British Labor Leader Neil Kinnock. He also got wrong the tragic events of his wife and daughter’s death.

All of these stories got media attention, but none have gotten as much attention as what the Washington Post gave to Marco Rubio. This shows just how much the left fears Marco Rubio.

    …this has been instantly filed by the MSM within the same “misrepresentation” category that contains Blumenthal, etc.

    Ignored is the fact that his parents experienced being exiled because of the inability to return to Cuba…which has been the consistent thrust of Marco’s presentation of his anti-Castro narrative.

    Venal has been the “suggestion” that such guilty self-awareness is what has actually animated his disavowal of any national-ticket ambition. Is it not possible that he–along with the lionized CC–simply have an accurate self-image which they aren’t allowing to be consumed by ego?

    then it’s rarely accurate. This just shows how desperate the left has become. They have nothing to offer the country so in order to keep their power trip going it’s all about character asassination. Don’t offer any plans that are actually viable and don’t suggest anything that might help. They don’t have a record to run on so the next thing is to try and get rid of the competition. Anyone who reads this rag and actually believes any of it’s content has severe psycholoical problems.

    if it will give the advantage to a Marxist liberal. There was the instances years ago of a young lady rreporter that gave the story of a homeless person and the struggles they have. Turns out the story was totally fictitious after it made the headlines in the Post. Other news agencies jumped on the story to get a story for their outlet. No one could be found that matched the reporters story and slowly the truth came out. The Post did a retraction but the damage had been done. Later they had several other instances just like that and even did anti-Bush stories before he was elected each time. To say the Post leans to the left is putting it mild, it is more like “The Washington Pravda” .

    Back when I lived in the DC area, the WaPo was a center-left paper. Now, it seems to be trying to outdo the NYT as the MSM’s lead supporter for Democrats.

    What changed? Is the Post trying to ingratiate itself with the Obama administration?

    Perhaps I’m asking questions that have been answered on this site long, long ago. If so, I missed the answers.

    But, here’s my bigger question: If the MSM, having seen the effect of their biased reporting in 2008, has decided to double-down on its bias in 2012, then we really have reached the point of no-return.

    I had always considered the WaPo to be a sane lefty-leaning island in a sea of committed-lefty MSM journalists.

    I had also hoped that some of the MSM would recognized, a trillion dollars of wasted Porkulus later, that they’d been addicted to Hopium in 2008 and should go into rehab.

    If the WaPo is STILL in the tank for the Dems, after all that we’ve seen from The One and his ones, then it appears there’s virtually nothing to be gained from the MSM. They are unreachable.

    So, perhaps we should stop letting them run all our debates?

    I realize that the U S government shipping hundreds of gun across a border, abetting dozens of deaths, not informing the other nation, and covering it all up, is unimportant compared to when someone’s parents left a country, more so when you’re doing a cheap rerun of the Obama Birther thing, [this time it's important, ignore the differences please], but they could at least give equal coverage,
    May I rest assured that the ethics and integrity of our concerned, highly educated, highly intelligent journalists rectify this anomaly?

    The Wa. post attacking Rubio must be for some future benefit. Liars such as odumbo, biden, etc are typical for politicians. The problem there is little or no integrity or honor in the American people anymore (generally speaking) or our polical leadership. In odumbo’ case it would be the “lack of”. What I’d like to know about Rubio (& Jindall) is this. I’ve read several articles about Rubio and I like what I read, but I will admit I don’t know much about Rubio. I have also read that the the reason the GOP has not gone after odumbo and his lack of being a U.S.citizen according to the Constitution is because of Rubio & Jindall. It would appear or it has been suggested that Rubio & Jindall do NOT qualify to occupy the office of President because they do NOT meet the citizenship requirements according to the Constitution. I believe odumbo is NOT a legal U.S. citizen I have always asked for an explanation of how he has a Connecticut social security number and he has never lived in Connecticut. odumbo should be removed from office if he is NOT a U.S. citizen (period) and I will NOT vote for Rubio. Jindall or any other person if they do NOT satisfy the Constitutional citizenship requirements (and that does NOT include changing the Constitution). I WON’T compromise my principles, so IF Rubio does not meet the Constitutional requirements to become President then don’t waste my time or even suggest VP because a VP can become Presidentif a President die’s. If the Post wants to spin it’s wheels, so what.

    Let’s not let this stay like all the attacks on Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, and other good conservatives. We sit by and say nothing, and do nothing, and they say, oh, they have been destroyed, so they cannot be elected. Marco Rubio is a great American. His family fled the Batista regime, which was very brutal, still better than Castro, but still. very brutal. Then, when he was overthrown in the revolution by Castro, his mother and the children, not Marco, as he was not born until 1970 and they returned in 1961, returned to Cuba, while the father got things in order here to return as well. A month later, the mother and kids return from Cuba, deciding they did not want to live under communism. What is untrue about this? And, remember, these people were all probably a little older by the time they told Marco any of this. People forget exact dates. At 63, I do not remember all the dates anymore, and how many people cannot even remember the exact date of the anniversary, making their wives not too happy? He said 57, 58 or 59, It happened to be 56. That is not bad for a memory of this and the WaPo did not even want to talk about the parents return and the again being exiles from their homeland. It is interesting that Marco Rubio has been attacked and attacked by Univision, etc., for not bowing to their pressure for interviews, as they are very negative to him. Why would he go on their station. They hate his stand on illegal immigration. And, it is also interesting to note that the author of this article is Hispanic as well. It just appears to me it is an attack from those who do not want to follow American laws and believe they are above the law, able to get and have whatever they want, legal or illegal. I would vote for Marco Rubio in a heatbeat. I wonder when Gov. Susanna Martinez of New Mexico, another Hispanic opposed to illegal immigration is going to be likewise attacked, or Gov. Brian Sandoval of Nevada? You cannot be one of those who is supposed to be on the plantation, Hispanic or Black, and not also go along with what you have been taught on the plantation. If you so so, you are the enemy.

    credibility whatsoever. I could care less that Rubio’s details were not exactly perfectly detailed to the liking of this Leftist aplogist for the Castro regime. I am certain that Rubio heard his parents often lament that their beautiful country had been overrun by a murderous dictator. Just because they left two years before he took power, does not mean that they did not despise what he did to their country and their family and friends who still resided there.

    This is an utterly transparent attempt by the Left to discredit a man they fear.

    The framers of the Constitution required “natural born citizen”, meaning two US citizen parents at the moment of birth, to prevent anyone reaching the highest office who was born with split allegiance. A child born of foreign parents has that culture, language, history in his nature and nurture. In Minor v Happersett SCOTUS stated that an “nbc” at birth has two US citizen parents- no divided allegiance. If you want to agree that anyone born “jus soli” (on US soil) is eligible, you are including children of illegal aliens, a child of Iraq, Iran, Yemen, 3rd world dictators, Anwar al-Awlaki Islamic terrorist, Nidel Malik Hasan Ft Hood assassin, Jose Padilla US terrorist, et al. Either you follow the intent of the founders, or open the doors to any who may hate the US but have the good fortune to be born on the soil. Rubio is a good man, but not eligible as VPOTUS

    Since as long as I can remember the press has been bias and a fraud. There is no sign of that ever changing. To continue to treat them like an honorable source of dialog is schizophrenic. They need to be ignored unilaterally. Don’t buy the papers and don’t read them. Don’t quote them and do not respond to them. As long as they continue to control the narrative the Right will be subject to continuous bashing, misquoting and manipulation. If Ignored a place for a new press will open up and the narrative will be how you dictate. The left will continue to use them as sources but they are dying already. If only Liberals buy the NYT or Washington post. They will die talking to themselfs.

    We need a press that will question the dubious statements of Obama.

    My birth certificate is in my file cabinet easily accessible as I have needed it through out the years for all the normal things required like jobs, mortgages, licenses. I don’t need to spend millions of dollars on lawyers to produce a birth certificate that shows me being born in a hospital that didn’t exist when I was born to a father from a country that didn’t exist at that time either. At the very least the press should question why Obama didn’t ask for his money back. It seems like everything we know about Obama is not true. We need a press that will look into these important things not one that moves into the house next door to fine out what Bra size Sarah Palin wears.

    I am more qualified to be President than Obama: Anyone who ever had a job is, anyone who every ran a business is, Anyone who ever ran for an elected office and served and voted in that capacity is, Anyone who went to college and can produce records to prove it is. Anyone who can produce a friend that recognizes them is. This is what the “Press” should be investigating.

    Get rid of the press, the Bias networks, the biased newspapers, government sponsored radio. Out… revoke their press passes they don’t qualify for them.

    It’s immaterial whether or not he got the date of “exile” right. What matters is the Constitutional requirement of a natural born citizen having two US citizen parents at the time of birth. Rubio has a great future in the US, no doubt, but not as POTUS or VP; his parents weren’t citizens. He was born a Cuban citizen through his parents, as are all immgrants. At birth they are citizens of the parental country. The laws of nature say like produces like. Lions don’t produce tigers; bears don’t produce wolves, Cuban citizens at the moment of birth produce a Cuban citizen. Later, when the parents were naturalized by US law and renounced Cuba, the child was included.

    His parents resume. He did!! He has changed his Senate website. Marco’s parents came to this country when Fidel Castro was still living in exile in Mexico.

    So, what’s the surprise here–Michelle said it for everybody to hear and see on TV. I dropped my subscription to the WaPo when I woke up to its very liberal bias during the Clinton (Monica Lewinsky) scandal. People have to stop patronizing the WaPo and its liberal cousins who have abdicated their role as the public’s watchdogs.

    you’ve hit on a central theme. When the talking points are done, the character assault begins. Just like in the 60s — “We don’t like this” … OK, what do you want done? “We don’t know — just change it.”

    A theme perpetuated through the decades. Similar to what Dems in Senate have been doing with budget process. They refuse, despite their obligation to do so, to create/offer a budget of our own … they just sit around criticizing and tearing aparts others’.

    Here is the what The Constitution states:

    Amendment XIV: All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.

    Article II, Section 1, paragraph 5: No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; . . .

    The Constitution does not define “natural born Citizen,” nor has the Surpeme Court ruled on its true meaning, so that is up for debate. The Constitution says nothing about the citizenship of one’s parents being a requirement, though some believe that it should be.
