knows that Erick Erickson is a self-declared Perry supporter and is strongly opposed to Romney. About every 2 days he posts another anti-Romney article on the RedState front page. Frankly, anyone stupid or lazy enough to come on and accuse him of being a Romney supporter without checking his diary history is unlikely to do much to further the reign of conservative principles. Tolerance is great, but one of the things that separates us from the Liberal idiots over at Kos is that we actually apply some rigor to our discussions.

My apology to the Romney supporters for bringing their candidate into this.

Second, I have been a member of this site for 6+ years, perhaps longer.

Third, (Yes, I remember what my third point is),..This is your site. Sometimes we out here forget that and think of it as ?our? site.

Erick,... It gets very aggravating having you attack candidates. Attack may be a harsh word, but that is the perception from where I sit and read. Tearing the message to tiny shreds is fair game, but tearing the candidate to shreds is off-putting.
The traction Ron Paul is gaining is due in no small part to the cult of personality we are under in this celebrity obsessed culture. He and his supporters may not be in the mainstream of what we all believe, but deriding them only serves to alienate them from the greater cause, which I believe is getting a different President elected. Yet, in the long run, wouldn't even Ron Paul would be better then Obama?

I do not expect you to ?punch down? and reply again to this post, that?s what your down-line of surrogates are for,... but perceptions paint reality, and the attacks on individuals we have witnessed this primary session may very well be convincing some to be swayed in opinion, but for the most part they just lower the conversation into verbal brawls which then leads to entrenchment.

Erick, your attacks on Santorum look like you're throwing mud up against the wall in hopes that something will stick. Seems like the kind of opposition research expected from Axelrod, not Erickson.

Santorum is a viable alternative to face Romney as the Conservative alternative in the primary. His loss to a sainted legacy like Casey in a blue state with Bush cratering does not disqualify him and neither does his emphasis on social issues in a primary, when he can easily switch gears to the economy the moment he gets the nomination. His counsel defending pro-wrestling over 20 years ago is certainly not fatal, nor is your most recent claim against his semantics; that he doesn't know the role of president as the Chief Executive.

I know that many in this community have delusions of Perry having a chance to beat Obama if, by some miracle, he becomes the nominee, but wake up. Anyone has a chance to beat Obama in the general except for Perry (or Paul). Like it or not, Perry will bear the cross of his "oops" debate moment for all time. It was worse than Dukakis with the death penalty, Ford with Poland, Quayle with JFK (or potato, for that matter), and even Paul with Iran. If the objective is to beat Obama, we cannot risk putting another man perceived, and the Left can easily paint, as a "dim-witted Texan" up as the alternative.

Fair or not, a large portion of this electorate weened on American Idol. We better put someone in the debates against Obama that sounds (remembers) and looks good, and sane, or Obama will win with coattails and turn this country into France so early into his 2nd term it'll make your heads spin.

That leaves Romney, Santorum, and Huntsman, if he wasn't a non-factor. Perry can be effective on the campaign trail for the eventual nominee for getting out the base, but that's all he has in his future.

I'm sure the Santorum supporters who watched 2006 were all thinking "I can't believe we're losing to this guy!".

Polling data supports Guzzardi's assertion that PA rejected Santorum, rather than PA jumping at the chance to vote for a putz like Casey Jr.

Santorum has a record of being behind miserable failures in terms of messaging. Santorum has basically had three main issues which he has gone out and stumped for, to the point where we can gauge public reception. First, partial privatization of Social Security: the Bush administration, a handful of conservatives, and Santorum kind of, sort of tried to get this done at the beginning of Bush's second term. It was one of the most pathetic pushes for legislation I've ever heard of from an incumbent -- the proposed bill never got off the ground, and very few people heard the pro argument for it. Santorum was the point guy for this, and in his state less people supported it after 6 months of explanation than did before the messaging campaign. Second: GWoT, specifically the War in Iraq. This was essentially the crux of his campaign in 2006. The result? A humiliating loss on his part, and no change in opinion from voters. The third, and final, issue on which Santorum gained national prominence were his comments on homosexuality. If you want to find out where that ended up, search his name on Wikipedia, and ask yourself if that successful relabelling on the part of left-wing bloggers should be considered a success.

Does that mean he will do everything in his power to collapse those agencies from within, starting by not appointing a secretary and thousands of politically appointed bureaucrats to run each one? No way!

You are a whiner. You wouldn't know a fact or an argument if sat next to you. And as far as your last sentence, you are simply demonstrating your inability to read and comprehend.

What chance does he have? Explain how you think that he is going to get any of the sideline donor money if he bombs in the first two states? That money will move to Paul if he wins, or Romney if he places 1st or second.

Tomorrow is a big night for 2 candidates. Paul and Perry. One (or both) of them is probably done after tomorrow night.

Sure, they will stay in until SC, but they will have no chance of winning.

Iowa is that important. NH nearly as much so.

You obviously don't know Perry. I do, as he has been my Governor for 10 years. He says what he means and means what he says. He also does what he says he will do. He is a straighter shooter. Do doubletalk. He stands for something and in this day and time that is rare. He has made excellent appointments in TX of very qualified people to boards, Universities etc. There is no question in my mind that he would do the same as President. One big change is that he actually knows and follows the consitution.

Anything else is "whining".

First, the only real case for Santorum with "us idiots who aren't capable of rational thought" is that he's less bad than the others. One can be ambivalent about a particular candidate, as I am about Santorum, and still "whine" about it when he sees that candidate trashed for his flaws while others are given a pass.

Second, Bush not speaking often enough would translate to normal people as inarticulate; as in, he did not articulate his reasons for doing things.

Third, if you really think Santorum is a clone of Obama, then you need to see a doctor.
