Ever hear of swatting? It’s a tactic used by left-wing activists and others these days to spoof phone calls in order to get SWAT Teams to show up at houses. It has happened to several conservative activists.

Consider this your must read of the day. It is LA County Prosecutor John Patrick Frey, who blogs as Patterico, describing just what harassment he and his family were subjected to by the online left.

The mainstream media, which has greater sympathies with the left than the right, would prefer not to cover stories like this. But it is getting to the point where they ignore the ongoing, sustained harassment of conservatives because they are conservatives.

*I’ve since dropped the Daily Kos connection from the title as I’m told now that Rauhauser is no longer there.

    Wow.

    I can’t say what I really think of this given RedState site rules about profanity.

    These (deleted) (deleted) are going to get someone killed, and even then the MSM won’t report it.

    Faking a 911 call claiming Patterico shot his wife? Beyond heinous.

    The American political system (and Democracy in general) are ways by which potentially violent conflicts over deeply-held personal beliefs can be waged in non-violent fashion. When Democracy breaks down, or certian people think they can take a short-cut, the inevitable result is a reversion to violence. This has been coming for a long time. It may well get worse. I blog under a psuedonym for a reason.

    As I read the linked article I was never shocked by the tactics that the left will use against those that disagree with them. For those of you who don’t believe its really as bad as you think, here is proof. This is what happens when liberalism is let run wild.

    Every man has the potential to be violent. Both liberal and conservative have the potential to be violent. It is the liberals that have proven to be violent, OWS is a perfect example. They are the poster-child for, “the ends justify the means.” When I saw the picture of the new black panther party at a place of voting with clubs, I shuddered and I said to myself, ?So this is how the country will come apart.?
    One of my biggest concerns is if conservatives break down to the liberals level, it will be like the cork coming off the Champaign bottle. The decades of pent up anger at the injustice of everything liberal. I dare not say more than that?..

    Seriously, the idea that the Police can’t track down phone calls that are made to 911 for instance is laughable, they are more than capable of doing so.

    Heck, even an email can be tracked if sufficient resources are devoted to doing so.

    It wouldn’t be surprising if the authorities could have found the individuals responsible and decided to spike the investigation.

    so many different places on the net to do it, and if you arent using your own internet then theres nothing they can do about it no matter how much they devote to tracking you down. hell, they could even skip the computer and use a prepaid cell.

    Maybe I should subscribe. I am in Afghanistan now and cant get him on the radio. I rather expecred to have more immediate concerns, but since I dont have to worry so much if the culvert has a bomb in it, I have time to be concerned about this.
    Please tell me Rush, Beck, Hannity, Levin, and Savage are all on top of this.

    Just on the face of the text here maybe it’s time someone figured out how to keep spoofing from happening with 9/11 calls?

    If they can catch the spoofers, perhaps the spoofers should have a nice guided tour of the legal system.
