but I admit a fascination with the extinct species of the Conservative Democrat Hawk politician, a la “Good Time Charlie” Wilson, Scoop Jackson, Walt Rostow and Dean Rusk. Our two- party political system has been in trouble ever since McGovern, Hillary and the Peaceniks exiled the Hawks from the Dem Party in the early 1970s. I hope to pen a RS entry about them sometime.

The ads are paid for by DHHS as ‘public service spots’ but are clearly ads designed to boost & brag about the ‘benefits’ of the health care law…

Stealth campaign spots, AND an ad-populum aimed at the Supreme Court ….

make SCOTUS look like total dopes in the process? You know…that “horrible SCOTUS…denying people with pre-existing conditions the right to get health insurance”…that “outdated Constitution”….”why do we even need SCOTUS anyway” kind of deal.

Or maybe it’s preemptive…a last minute bit of pressure applied to SCOTUS, trying to change some minds….”if you take out the mandate, then here’s what we’re going to do about it”.

Interesting idea, though. I had wondered if maybe they were trying to make it look like they actually care about the private sector (which they don’t…”evil capitalism” and all that)

1. followed applied law.
2. followed the constitution.
3. cared about existing law.
4. cared about established protocal of all previous Presidents.

I recall a few months back that some pundits wondered if Kegan had leaked it to this admin and they were preparing for the worse. That would be so irreprehensible if true and should be grounds for impeachment if true. So many ifs!

Bits of Obamacare tucked away deep into the federal regs so deep we wont find them for a decade. Intentional chaos and mayhem on the border, due to no federal border security enforcement. Gay marriage a-go-go and declared so by the mere utterance, a federal right – which it might as well be, as he instructs the government’s attorneys not to defend DOMA in court. Millions more on the federal dole,more than ever before in history. Made thus into good Democrats all, for decades more. His work is almost done. Is it plain enough?

“in case the mandate is struck down”? I know the answer but how can they be that lawless by interfering with SCOTUS? Calmer now, was that during the hearings or subsequently? I watched the hearings intently and don’t recall this at all.

If during, then the SC should hold them in contempt for ummm, gerrymandering for lack of better term. Or fixing the outcome! Shocking indeed.

But get this part of it…

“Overturning the mandate would have harmful consequences for the private insurance market. Under the law, insurers would still have to accept all applicants regardless of health problems, and they would be limited in what they can charge older, sicker customers.

As a result, premiums for people who directly buy their own coverage would jump by 15 percent to 20 percent, the Congressional Budget Office estimates. Older, sicker people would flock to get health insurance but younger, healthier ones would hold back.

To forestall such a problem, the administration asked the court – if it declares the mandate unconstitutional – to also strike down certain consumer protections, including the requirement on insurers to cover people with pre-existing health problems. That would mitigate a damaging spike in premiums.”
