These Hands: Mitt Romney Uses Barack Obama’s Re-Marx

Oh nooooooozzzeeeeee!!!!

Mitt Romney must be a racist taking Barack Obama out of context.

Why? Well, he’s using Barack Obama’s in context re-Marx from Virginia in a new web ad that I feel comfortable saying will be coming to a television screen near you soon enough.

More of this please. Honestly, this is one of the first ads from the Romney camp I feel heads in a pitch perfect direction.

Moe posted the entire speech over in the “wetting the Bed” thread. It is well worth a half hour to listen to. Romney really impressed me with what he said and how he said it. Watch to the end because his summation is Reaganesque. .

  • APA Guy

Keep it up, Mitt…we have your back…and as of this morning, some of my wallet.

This is more than red meat for conservatives. It damages Obama in a manner he can’t respond to…much like his record

    Ouch-bamanomics in action.

  • CincoSolas_del_Bronx

his increasing inability to hide his actual thoughts–as here–will prove more beneficial.

  • wintermute

until I see it on TV. This needs a massive audience.

  • fortcollins

This is absolutely the best ad by any campaign so far in this election. It resonates with all of us who have struggled for years to achieve and build something for our families and our future.

We can’t endure four more years of Neo-Marxism.

    Well dome, and sic ‘em!

  • commonsenseobserver

On the other hand, Obama had his 30-minute informercial. Let’s have one focusing on all his gaffes and broken promises, including this one, and have Romney and ordinary people explaining them to voters and how Mitt Romney will fix things for each issue. Tell Americans a story.

  • tnfriendofcoal101368

“If you have insurance, you won’t have to pay the tax.” I hear Ole Axe doubled the IT staff to ensure the telepromters are working at all future appearances.

  • CincoSolas_del_Bronx

It didn’t hit me in the videos but stands out in the audio:

    “Let me tell you something”

The haughty tone in which that was uttered reveals an attitude about more than the economy. I’m hoping to hear it become as definitive as Nixon’s self-dooming “Let me say this about that.”

  • wintermute

i guess its up to us to help make it go viral

  • commonsenseobserver

But they’re different parts of the same speech which say the same thing to the same people.

  • tnfriendofcoal101368

Here is a new Crossroads ad that will be going up in 9 swing states (even though I live in Tennessee – the media market stretches all the way to Roanoke, Va so I see the battleground state ads). I like this one as well (not as devastating as the Romney ad) but it calls a rose bush a rose bush.

  • commonsenseobserver

Obama’s done a good deed by stinging Team Romney into action and uniting Republicans in a way Hillary could never have done.

  • ncfamilyman

And pleased with the Romney campaign’s willingness to attack. We are going to get SOOOOO much mileage out of this.

  • Bill S

“Ouch, ouch, stop it! That hurts!”

  • commonsenseobserver

The battling middle class which puts the opportunity to earn a better life for themselves and their children first, those who are hit especially hard by the twin bombshells of large debt and high taxes on small businesses and personal wages.

Now is time for Mitt Romney to win them over with a case specifically tailored for them.

  • jude68

I agree I have seen this ad here in Florida and another that talks about all the TAXES that Obama is putting on the middle class and his Record…..Very good ads!! I am in the HEART of Battle Central in I-4 Corridor in Florida and this will make or break the state of Florida for either candidate. Obama is running ads like water over Niagra….All the same BAIN, BAIN and BAIN…the problem is it is being NUMB and that is a problem.

The Ads from Crossroads are about RECORDS of the PRESIDENT in office. Great ads….I am sure we will get tons more here!! Keep it up Crossroads and Americans for Prosperity!!

Obama here again in Florida today and tomorrow…shocking….but his disapproval here is NOW 54 percent…..NOT A GOOD PLACE for the MARXIST!!

  • acat

You were worrying, Ace, about how Romney “wasn’t on the attack”.

of course it’s edited – it’s one of Barack Obama’s 1.5 hour soliquy’s on what he hates about America and would change if the American voters would just grant him the “flexibility” of four more years. The ad’s goal is win the hearts and minds of voters not bore them to tears with Barry’s bloviating.

  • updoc101
As a reminder, President Obama said:
“If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you?ve got a business — you didn?t build that.”
But according to Romney’s edited video this is what Obama said:
“If you?ve been successful, you didn?t get there on your own. You didn?t get there on your own. I?m always struck by people who think, well, it must be ?cause I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something. If you?ve got a business, you didn?t build that. Somebody else made that happen.”
If you watch the video, you’ll see that there’s no indication whatsoever that Obama’s words had been edited. It still would have been misleading even if they had offered such an indication, but not including an edit marker turns the clip from simply misleading into one of the most egregiously dishonest edits I’ve ever seen. But as outrageous as Romney’s flagrant dishonesty is, let’s not forget the reason he’s resorting to these sorts of lies: He’s panicked about Bain and he’s panicked about his taxes. Even Republicans agree that he needs to open his books. It’s a big problem for him. And instead of solving it, his solution is to make up stuff about President Obama.

Now we’ve heard from Dear Leader’s Official Campaign Troll.

  • jaykali

I was worried Obama’s remarks were going to get buried…ya nah so much. That’s great news. Bc they are SSOOOOOOOO revealing. I love off the teleprompter Obama. He ‘accidentally’ tells the truth when he’s off script.

  • tnfriendofcoal101368

Here is the unedited portion of the speech…

“They know they didn?t — look, if you?ve been successful, you didn?t get there on your own. You didn?t get there on your own. I?m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something — there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there.” (Applause.)

“If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you?ve got a business — you didn?t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn?t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet”

Source: whitehouse.gov. If you are going to run that defense sparky, I suggest you take a page out of Dewhurst’s book and edit your own website.

Dang that hurts; don’t it. Go tell the President his time to honor himself is coming to an end: 108 days to be exact.

  • fightnright

and will stick in the minds of the vast majority of Americans who know the truth about the US, much better than Obama’s lies and hatred.

I have faith that even for folks in groups which are affected by identity politics, and would prefer not admitting being conflicted in their responses to pollsters, ads that speak truth like this will follow them into the voting booths.

    Great work, go Romney team!

…that so goes Harvard, so goes the nation.

And Elizabeth Warren’s remarks–which played so well in the liberal precincts of Cambridge, Wellesley and the Berkshires–don’t even play well in the rest of Massachusetts, let alone in the entire rest of the country.

“He who is prudent and lies in wait for an enemy who is not, will be victorious.”

Romney is fighting on his most favorable ground, the economy and busness. On that topic, he is extremely strong and Obama is weak and vulnerable. He should resist the urge to fight on Obama’s terms. Stay on the economy.

  • eugenio

After Barry’s rant in Roanoke, I told all my friends that I hoped Romney would get some small businessmen and women together for an ad with their reactions. Romney’s campaign exceeded even my expectations with this ad. It’s a grand slam home run. Romney is genuined PO’d with Barry.

I was far from the happiest when Romney sealed the nomination but to be fair he has shown many endearing traits that will enable me to campaign hard for him. Perhaps the best of these traits is his genuine love for hard work and success. When Romney saw them denegrated by our (p)resident, he got ticked off and kicked it into a higher gear. Keep it comin’, Mitt.

By taking from the rich to give to the poor you just add to the poor ranks. Then who is left to hire the poor? You got it! The marxist government. Never envy the rich. They are the ones who hire you. If they are bled dry, so are the workers and the poor. Sooner or later there is no one left but the corrupt liberal government who have never shown a profit in their lives. Everything they touch becomes a joke. i.e. Solendra, Gov’t. Motors, too many to list. Go Romney. Get tough and play their game of getting down and dirty. It’s all the koolaid drinkers respond to.

  • commonsenseobserver

    With you, Mitt!

  • radicalrabbi

I think as time goes on, the Democrats are going to get nastier and meaner. All Mitt has to do is get the real truth out there and lay it all at the feet of Nancy Peloisi Harry Reid, and Mad King Barry. Scripture declares that the truth will set us free. Well, it seems to me there are a whole bunch of folks out there that have been lied to and kept on the government plantation, and if they want off, all they have to do is seek the truth, hear the truth, then act on that truth.
The basic truth is that their “messiah” is a fraud..

This video was featured after the Gilchrist video on Youtube.
    I have never seen it.
One of his sons (and they are all gorgeous!) explains how his Dad does not call attention to his good works.
    He just does them.
I am not one to worship anyone, but this says so much about Romney’s character. It kind of explains why he MISTAKENLY put the race into McCain’s hands in 2008.
That kind of explains further, why Palin has not been invited…
    McCain lost.

  • major

    THIS ONE!

  • commonsenseobserver

On their blatant lies and carrying water for the President.

  • commonsenseobserver

And making the state the core, if not only, component of society.

  • wumingren

Obama’s supporters are all claiming that he didn’t mean what he said about successful business people not making it on their own. In his own defense (off teleprompter, of course), he might be expected to say, “Hey. No big deal. I say a lot of things I don’t mean.”

  • wumingren

The problem is that the vast majority of them don’t want off the plantation. Even a beaten dog keeps going home for food, water, and the shady spot under the porch.

  • cbartlett

The first thing OBO does when he goes off teleprompter is start droppin’ those “g’s” and talking like someone with no education or class. Oh yeah – maybe that’s because his education is questionable and he most definitely has NO class!

  • ihateliberals

This is the candidate we have been looking for. The one that makes us proud to be an American. Forgive me for referring to Reagan again but this is how Reagan made you feel, Proud to be an American. Reagan always told us how great we were while Carter and later on Mondale told us that we were the problem by not letting government solve our problems. Mitt Please keep this attitude and get this out there on national TV ASAP. Do it early and do it often!

  • Melody Warbington (rwm52)

About the only place I don’t drop my “g’s” is on the Internet, and sometimes I go so far as to drop them there as well. LOL.

    Know what I’m talkin’ about?

  • giatny

It’s been fun listening to the left claim the president was taken out of context.
His speech revealed EXACTLY what he
believes in: collectivism not individualism. He did briefly (very briefly) acknowledge some contribution from individuals but the speech was textbook collectivism. In fact the speech was partially plagiarized from one given by Lizzy Warren. It took 5 days for
    a news commentator to correctly
    identify the ideology. Surprisingly it
was Joe Scarborough. Mika was so
enraged I thought she would rise up
and knock Joe out of his chair. She was
foaming at the mouth when Obama was called out for praising collectivism over
    proAmerican individualism. The other
gift Obama gave Romney was referring
to the famous Truman quote “the buck
stops here”. It’s time Obama was
forced to take total responsibility for
    his countless failures.

  • cbartlett

There’s nothin’ wrong with a true southern accent – many of us are “afflicted” with it. (Lived in Texas all my life – don’t think I don’t sound worse than Sue Ellen on Dallas? yeah – right- LOL) My problem with Obama’s version is that his is so fake. He only gets in that southern, preacher voice mode with certain kinds of audiences – and generally only when he’s off-teleprompter. He works too hard at trying to be “one of you”. Hard to believe people fall for the sham. He is class-less. And so is his wife. I am convinced that someone will make a lot of money someday from a book written about the disrespect that occured in White House during this term.

  • Melody Warbington (rwm52)

as I thought that’s what you meant. I’m from Tennessee livin’ in Alabama. My husband says when we go home (to TN) to visit, my use of the word “reckon” goes up rather significantly. We all have our quirks.

Obama is a charlatan at many things, not just his fake accent.
