. . . When?
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | July 10th at 04:47 AM |
Yesterday I asked if not now, when do we get to hold Republicans accountable. It is mind numbingly infuriating to get some of the bellyaching from people that, in effect, we never can. I disagree. I know most of you do too. Right now, here are six congress critters we can annihilate in Republican primaries. The alternative candidates to them are far more conservative. If | Read More »

Freedom’s Slate
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | July 5th at 04:46 AM |
On this Independence Day, it is time to focus on improving the crop of Republican congressmen by examining some of the remaining Republican primaries. Want the GOP to stand up to Barack Obama? Tired of the GOP cutting deals? Want to make sure the GOP doesn’t back out of full and complete repeal of Obamacare if they sweep in November? Then you absolutely must support | Read More »

The Last Debate?
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | February 20th at 04:46 AM |
Today is a holiday here at RedState, but I’m doing laundry, packing, and preparing to fly out to Arizona. On Wednesday night, CNN will bring the nation what may very well be the last debate in the Republican Presidential Primary season. From Mesa, AZ, Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, and Ron Paul will take the stage one last time. At least we can presume | Read More »
On The Senate
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | December 14th at 11:54 AM |
According to the vote count that leaked out, Senator Roy Blunt became Senate Republican Conference Vice Chairman with 25 votes and Senator Ron Johnson lost with 22 votes. Let me be up front that I genuinely like Roy Blunt. But I also think Senator Blunt is part of the status quo problem in Washington. My support of Ron Johnson was about Ron Johnson being a | Read More »

God Bless America. Jeff Flake is In!
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | February 14th at 09:11 AM |
Jeff Flake is running for the Senate. He’ll be my first campaign contribution for the 2012 season. I know some of you are not fans of Flake’s because he sided with McCain on immigration. But I have to tell you, that he is so uncontrollable and, other than that issue, so much one of us, I’ll forgive him that. His score card for the Club | Read More »
Let Me Pre-Emptively Endorse Jeff Flake
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | February 10th at 12:37 PM |
Senator Jon Kyl (R-AZ) is throwing in the towel and retiring from the Senate. Much speculation will be had over the next few weeks about who to endorse and who to support. Let me be up front and just say I endorse Jeff Flake for the United States Senate. Now . . . now we just need to get him to run. Details. Just a | Read More »
The President’s Speech and Killing Sarah Palin
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | January 13th at 05:00 AM |
What was billed as a “memorial service” in Arizona last night was more of a pep-rally and celebration of life. It was complete with sloganeering, bumper stickers, and t-shirts. It is what was needed. What’s more, Mr. Obama gave a stunning rebuke to his own base who’ve engaged in a horrific blame game all week. But at a time when our discourse has become so | Read More »
The Blame Game and my Tirade
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | January 12th at 03:04 PM |
So Cornell Belcher, as I mentioned earlier, wanted to accuse the tea party movement and the right of being much more vitriolic than the left. That kind of set me on a tirade. With great demand from many of you, CNN was kind enough to get the video into an embeddable file. Here now is my tirade:
What’s Missing
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | January 11th at 02:28 PM |
“Whether you believe it or not, here is the reality: beyond us is a world we cannot see with our eyes — a world of very real angels and very real demons, of a very real God and a very real devil. ” I am tired of talking about the Arizona shooting. The left has done its best to try to pin it on the | Read More »
I’m going to make a political point now
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | January 10th at 05:00 AM |
For those still attacking Sarah Palin for daring to use the word “targets” and maps against Democrats, including Gabrielle Giffords, please note that the DLC and DCCC, the D is for “Democratic”, also had maps with targets in earlier years. Likewise Markos Moulitsas of the Daily Kos targetted Gabrielle Giffords himself. The self-serving attack over the use of maps and the word “target” is both | Read More »
The Media & The Shooter
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | January 9th at 06:00 AM |
“The tea party movement won in November. Winners don’t go on shooting sprees.” This morning we pray for Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, her family, and the other victims of the heinous violence in Arizona. It should not be, but the media, under the guise of “a full exposition” of the evil in Arizona, is back to subtly and not so subtly pinning the blame for the | Read More »
The Blame Game and Prayers Begin
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | January 8th at 02:32 PM |
Editorial Note: This morning, prior to this news, we were running a caption contest on this cartoon. We have suspended that contest and removed the cartoon from the front page. — Erick —————————– A terrible tragedy today. Rep. Giffords of Arizona was gunned down and, though early reports were that she is dead, the hospital is confirming, as of this writing, that she is alive | Read More »
Primary Open Thread
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | August 24th at 08:04 PM |
Take your pick. You’e got Arizona, Vermont, Alaska, Florida, and runoffs in Oklahoma. I suspect we’ll be giving comment amnesty to people in Arizona tonight — within reason.
It is time to get off the fence and support Pamela Gorman
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | August 18th at 09:06 AM |
There are so many candidates running in AZ-03 to replace John Shadegg that fundraising is tough unless your last name is Quayle. Pamela Gorman has up what might amount to a closing argument after a great grassroots campaign. This reflects exactly why I’m supporting Pamela Gorman. Unlike every single other candidate in that race, Pamela Gorman has bled for cause. She stood up to Democrats. | Read More »
A Note To Conservatives Who Wanted to Suck Up to the Quayle Family
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | August 11th at 08:00 AM |
Look, I get it. Dan and Marilyn Quayle are tremendous people. So when they call and say you should back their son who is running for Congress, you tend to say okay. But Ben Quayle is imploding. He did a “rent-a-family” mail piece purported showing him with his daughters, but he has none. Now, it turns out that Ben Quayle has a bit of a | Read More »
Rent a Family
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | August 4th at 07:00 AM |
I hate to take a dig at Ben Quayle, running against Pamela Gorman in Arizona’s 3rd and also son of the former Vice President, but this is just too funny. Quayle sent out a mail piece of him holding one young child with another in a seat. The caption under it reads, in part, “Tiffany and I live in this district and we are going | Read More »
The Prop 187 Myth
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | July 8th at 11:30 AM |
Of all the issues in which inside the beltway groupthink cloud good judgment, none is more obvious than the tales of immigration and the decline of the GOP. The issue is best summed up by the strategic thinkers inside both the Democrat and Republican Parties who say that opposition to “comprehensive” immigration reform will somehow doom the GOP to permanent minority status. They all take | Read More »
Have you donated to Pamela Gorman yet?
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | July 1st at 04:36 PM |
I met with Pamela in Arizona shortly after she’d been to the desert shooting. She and her son are both great shots. And she has a great shot at getting to Congress if we are willing to step up and help her. Give what you can.
The Battle Moves to Colorado
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | June 24th at 08:35 AM |
Conservatives did a marvelous job rallying in South Carolina and Utah. Nikki Haley, Tim Scott, and Jeff Duncan scored major conservative victories in South Carolina. Mike Lee will go on to be the next senator from Utah. The next big race will be Ken Buck vs. Jane Norton in Colorado. And conservatives need to rally to Ken Buck. Already the Norton campaign has gone totally | Read More »
