Alex Sink Gambled Florida’s Future and Lost
“If Rick Scott is the Bernie Madoff of Medicare, is Alex Sink the Charles Ponzi of the Public Trust?” Well, well, well. What do we have here?! It turns out that the Democratic nominee for Governor of Florida is tied a bit too closely to Charlie Crist and Bill McCollum in screwing Florida’s citizens. Sink sunk the state with bad investments. When the investments collapsed, | Read More »
Be Careful What You Wish For
Tom Daschle’s son says Rick Scott is the Democrats’ dream candidate in Florida. “We couldn’t have asked for a better candidate to run against, simply because Rick scott I think represents all that is going on in the Republican party right now and has a very clear contrast with Alex Sink.” He ought to be careful what he wishes for. The Democrats said the same | Read More »
Charlie Crist Secretly Went to See Obama This Past Friday
We now have confirmation from the Crist campaign. Caleb and I have been working on this story. We have eye witnesses who saw Charlie Crist in Martha’s Vineyard this past Friday. Now Crist claims he was not visiting the President at all and was there for a private campaign event, the details of which he is refusing to release. But our witnesses say he very | Read More »
McCollum the Sore Loser?
This is getting disgraceful. I realize the level of acrimony is out of control in Florida, but this behavior is typical of McCollum and one of the chief reasons his opponent barely lost McCollum’s home county — ponder that point. McCollum hired most of Charlie Crist’s 2006 campaign staff, which happened to be former Florida GOP Chairman Jim Greer’s inner circle. Yes, the indicted JIm | Read More »
Lessons for Conservatives From the Rick Scott Campaign
A lot of people are going to want to put their head in the sand and claim Rick Scott bought the Florida GOP’s gubernatorial primary. The facts make it clear that this is nonsense. Yes, Rick Scott did spend $40 million. But more than $20 million was spent just to attack Rick Scott. Scott spent his money not just drawing very sharp contrasts with Bill | Read More »
Rick Scott Wins
It was one of the nastiest primaries anyone could remember in Florida. Scott and McCollum spent millions attacking each other — Scott with his own fortune and McCollum with a great deal of third party group money. McCollum’s campaign orchestrated stunt after stunt to highlight the baggage Scott would bring to the general election, but it was not enough. Rick Scott, a conservative businessman and | Read More »
Primary Open Thread
Take your pick. You’e got Arizona, Vermont, Alaska, Florida, and runoffs in Oklahoma. I suspect we’ll be giving comment amnesty to people in Arizona tonight — within reason.
I’m Still Perturbed by This
The Bill McCollum campaign in Florida is lamely trying to deny they had anything to do with that stupid lawsuit against Rick Scott. They’ve also decided that because I am defending Scott in this that I must be a shill for Scott. Were I shilling for Scott, given my track record, I would be endorsing the guy. I am not and that is not the | Read More »
The Bill McCollum Campaign Looks Desperate and Dead to Integrity
“Here we have the Attorney General of Florida abusing his office to destroy a company all to help his standing in the polls.” Holy cow. I never would have thought I’d see Bill McCollum stoop to cheap political tricks to try to boost his poll numbers. Short of putting a dead girl or live boy in Rick Scott’s trunk, I don’t think McCollum could have | Read More »
Is Karen Diebel Really A Big Taxer?
I haven’t really jumped into FL-24 race other than to raise some concerns I had with Karen Diebel that everyone assures me are actually not big issues. But one thing that has jumped out at me is some of the attacks on Diebel about her voting for tax increases on the Winter Park City Council in Florida. Here are some of the tax increases she’s | Read More »
Rick Scott Continues to Lead Bill McCollum in Florida
The gubernatorial race in Florida continues to surprise me. Bill McCollum, the unquestionably conservative Attorney General and former congressman who played a part in Bill Clinton’s impeachment, is losing to a novice politician and former hospital CEO. With just three weeks until Election Day, and early voting beginning next week, Scott is beating McCollum in every demographic and geographic category of likely GOP voters, said | Read More »
Taxpayer Funded Abortions Come to Florida
Media headlines are saying Charlie Crist’s veto of pro-life legislation is a veto about women receiving ultrasounds before electing to have an abortion. That’s actually only part of the legislation. With Crist’s veto there is more. Taxpayer funded elective abortions are coming to Florida for the first time. Recent federal health care legislation gave states the opportunity to opt-out of federal provisions using tax dollars | Read More »
Is Karen Diebel Okay?
I know nothing about this race, but like Dan, I was given troubling police reports that are either real and very bizarre, or suggests something is not right with Karen Diebel. Diebel is one of two candidates running in FL-24 for Congresswoman’s Kosmas’s seat. The seat leans Republican, but has been held by a Democrat these past few years since beating Tom Feeney. According to | Read More »
BREAKING: Jim Greer Arrested
CNN is reporting that the former Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida, Jim Greeer, has been arrested. Greer was Charlie Crist’s hand picked chairman of the Florida GOP and together they collaborated on destroying Marco Rubio. Part of their plan involved leaking out the credit card scandal and targeting it toward Marco Rubio. Well, it just blew up in their faces.
Florida Voters Realize Charlie Crist is an Orange Opportunist
A couple of weeks have passed since Charlie Crist abandoned the GOP to run as an independent. The orange man moved his campaign into a lingerie shop and started renouncing his allegedly long held positions on life, education reform, etc. And guess what? He is now nosediving in the polls. Rubio leads according to Rasmussen at 39% to Crist’s 31% to Meek’s 18%. And to | Read More »
NRSC Endorsed Charlie Crist Bolts the GOP. Won’t Give Back Donor Dollars.
One year ago today, NRSC backed Arlen Specter bolted from the GOP. Today, the media is reporting NRSC backed Charlie Crist is also bolting the GOP. Seeing a trend here, aren’t we? Charlie Crist will not only run as an independent in Florida, but he has also reserved all of his air time in Florida through November, or as much as he can. Why? Because | Read More »
On Charlie Crist and the FBI: See, I Told You So
Early this morning I made the case that the FBI and IRS investigation in Florida had more to do with Charlie Crist than Marco Rubio despite breathless headlines to the contrary. I’ve gotten lots of emails that I was just shilling for Marco and, said one, need to take the news “like a man.” Well, I told you so. Turns out the investigation has been | Read More »
Charlie Crist’s GOP Comes Under Federal Investigation. Rubio Affected.
As the morning sun comes up in Florida there is big news. The U.S. attorney, IRS and FBI are investigated the Florida GOP for practices Charlie Crist’s hand picked chairman put in place. Remember those credit card expenditures that Crist has been attacking Rubio over? If you don’t, Charlie’s hand picked Florida Republican Party Chairman, Jim Greer, and Executive Director Delmar Johnson, passed out American | Read More »
Charlie Crist Mulling Independent Bid
Well, Charlie Crist is now himself saying he may run as an independent. Don’t expect Rob Jesmer to lose his job. Jesmer, the man who woo’ed Crist into the Senate race thereby throwing the Florida Governor’s race into turmoil and the Senate race into turmoil will no doubt get a pay raise as chief strategist at the NRSC. So what to do with Crist? The | Read More »
Charlie Crist Signals He is Going Independent
Florida political pundits have been saying for a few weeks that if Charlie Crist vetoed a Republican backed measure pushed heavily by Jeb Bush to reform Florida public education, it would be a strong sign Charlie Crist would bolt the GOP. Well, Crist vetoed it. The legislation would have made it easier to remove bad teachers and was heavily opposed by teachers unions. Crist chose | Read More »
