I Support Joe Walsh. You Should Too.
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | July 6th at 04:46 AM |
I support Congressman Joe Walsh a thousand percent and you should too. Pony up your checkbooks while you are at it. He’s in the midst of a manufactured scandal because he dared utter an inconvenient truth. His opponent is the leftwing darling Tammy Duckworth. As CNN notes, “A Black Hawk helicopter pilot in Iraq, Duckworth lost both legs and the use of one arm when | Read More »
A Case Study in Why Republicans Do Not Fear Conservatives
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | March 14th at 02:40 PM |
“Paper tigers are desk ornaments, not cause for concern.” The primary battle for Illinois’s 16th Congressional District is a case study in why Republicans do not fear conservatives and do not take conservatives seriously in the House of Representatives. Consider, if you will, that what Jim DeMint has done in the United States Senate is make Republicans understand they might just be seriously challenged by | Read More »
Adam Kinzinger Finally Admits He’s Not Conservative
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | March 13th at 10:57 AM |
It’s not really a surprise, is it? After all, as I pointed out last week, Adam Kinzinger’s scores from the center-right are rather pathetic by themselves and really pathetic compared to Congressman Don Manzullo. Now even Kinzinger is dropping the pretense of being conservative. He told a Boone County, IL Lincoln Day Dinner, “This isn’t a race about who is more conservative, it’s a race | Read More »
Conservatives Should Mobilize to Help Don Manzullo Against Adam Kinzinger in Illinois
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | March 9th at 04:46 AM |
“If we are unwilling to stand up for a man who stands up for conservatives even against his own party, then why should we ever expect any man to stand with the movement against the party?” On February 18, 2011, 98 Republicans joined with the whole of the Democratic Caucus in the House to defeat legislation offered up by Representative Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee designed | Read More »
According to Dick Durbin, Presidents Should NOT Come To Congress Before Going to War
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | March 30th at 05:12 PM |
From the “say or do anything to defend your man” file, Dick Durbin just ingratiated himself to the American anti-war left with a doozie of a tale on the floor of the United States Senate. According to Dick Durbin, a man who once called American soldiers nazis, Presidents George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush broke precedent by going to Congress before initiating hostilities. | Read More »
Will the Durbin Amendment Stay? If So, Consumers Are Screwed.
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | March 30th at 09:58 AM |
I’ve written about this before. The Senate may very well today or tomorrow consider fixing the problem. I hope. After I wrote about Durbin’s amendment to the financial reform package, the Wall Street Journal took him on as well. The Wall Street Journal noted, “Congress’s 2009 effort to regulate credit cards shows what will happen. Do you like free checking? Enjoy it while you can, | Read More »
This is How the Democrats Will Try to Steal the Election
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | October 27th at 05:00 AM |
The old saw is that Republicans try to suppress elections and Democrats try to steal them. We are certainly seeing what appears to be the Democrats trying to steal the election in close races this year. We now know that the SEIU is in charge of the voting machines in Las Vegas where Harry Reid’s name is coming pre-checked. But buried in the news is | Read More »
Debbie Halvorson Goes With the Nazi Card
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | September 17th at 03:18 PM |
Adam Kinzinger is running for Congress against Debbie Halvorson in Illinois. On September 15th, at an Americans for Prosperity event, left-wing protestors showed up with posters depicting Kinzinger as a Nazi. They also had pictures of Sarah Palin with Hitler mustaches, etc. The Kinzinger campaign filmed the protestors and followed them. Guess where the protestors went with their signs? Back to Debbie Halvorson’s campaign headquarters. | Read More »

Late in the Day, a Growing Movement in Illinois Rallies to the Politically Numinous
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | January 28th at 02:47 PM |
For weeks and weeks my email has been peppered with notes from people in Illinois along the lines of this one: You keep talking about Pat Hughes, but what about Adam Andrzejewski? He’s a dream candidate. He’s a Rubio. Everyone these days calls their candidate a Rubio. Guess what? Andrzejewski is a Rubio — well spoken, attractive, conservative to his core, and with a zealous | Read More »
Illinois Republicans are Obligated to Vote Against Kirk Dillard
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | January 26th at 11:45 AM |
Triple P polling shows the GOP race for Illinois Governori si tight. Eight points seperate 5 candidates. Surprisingly, the leader is Kirk Dillard. We must oppose him. Dillard endorsed Barack Obama. He even shot a commercial for Obama. When McCain became the nominee for the GOP, Dillard shut up, but the record is still there. We must oppose this guy. I know folks in the | Read More »
Is it really ‘fringe’? And is the game coming on for Pat Hughes?
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | January 24th at 12:49 PM |
Pat Brady, the Chairman of the Illinois Republican Party, says the anti-Mark Kirk element within the GOP is ‘fringe.’ That’s actually not quite true and is precisely why so many conservatives in Illinois don’t like Brady or Kirk — they feel repeated disrespected and treated as fringe. In fact, considering how active the Illinois Tea Party movement is in opposing Kirk, Brady is, in effect, | Read More »
Patrick Hughes v. Mark Kirk: Illinois May be a Test Case for the Effectiveness of Tea Parties
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | January 11th at 12:00 PM |
February 2, 2010 is the Illinois Republican Primary. Less than one month away. Patrick Hughes is running an upstart campaign against the would be Republican nominee, Mark Kirk. Patrick Hughes is as far right as Kirk is as far left. Patrick Hughes aims to harness the conservatives and tea party activists in Illinois who feel marginalized by Kirk and the Democrats further to the left | Read More »
Do Conservatives Need to Look in on Illinois’s Senate Race?
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | December 15th at 11:57 PM |
Mark Kirk, the front runner in the race for the GOP nomination for Illinois’s Senate seat, appears to be cruising to a sure primary victory in February. His challenger, Patrick Hughes, has not made ad buys yet, has no name recognition, and for all intents and purposes has barely put on a political campaign. Hughes also only has $340,048.00 on hand compared to $2.3 million | Read More »
Good!
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | June 29th at 05:20 PM |
Marathon Pundit went to a Cap and Trade inspired tea party at Mark Kirk’s office. The email about this is timely as we’re having heated discussion among the contributors right now regarding Kirk. All things being equal, I’m happy to support Kirk for Senate because I think he can win statewide and is at least 50% better than what’s there. I don’t want to chase | Read More »
Democrat Bobby Rush (D-IL) Wants To Let Eric Holder Take Your Guns Away
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | March 19th at 11:30 AM |
It sounds innocuous. Congressman Bobby Rush (D-IL), on January 6, 2009, quietly filed the Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sale Act of 2009 (H.R. 45) in the United States House of Representatives. While the nation has been distracted by the bailouts, the stimulus, the AIG bonuses, and Britney Spears’ comeback, Congressman’s Rush’s legislation has been winding its way through Congress. Right now it | Read More »

By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | February 12th at 01:15 PM |
McCain is raising money for his 2010 run. He’s been damn good on the stimulus issue. On Tuesday, the 2008 Republican presidential nominee sent out a fundraising solicitation to subscribers to johnmccain.com asking for donations to his 2010 Senate re-election campaign. Huburris
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | December 31st at 12:09 PM |
Blago, if nothing else, has proven himself a serious narcissist in these past few weeks. It’s all about him. Well, he apparently admires Roland Burris’s narcissist self-infatuation. Burris has named his kids, both male and female, after himself. There is Roland II and Rolanda. Yep. Even more so, brought to us by Wonkette, is the already built Roland Burris gravesite monument with his whole biography | Read More »
It’s Official: Roland Burris is an idiot
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | December 31st at 10:14 AM |
I saw him on the news this morning. Probably $enator Roland Burris tried to defend his appointment by (A) playing the race card, (B) saying Blago’s problems are not his problems, and (C) acting all surprised by the backlash from everyone — everyone including Barack Obama. The man must be a power hunger kleptocrat in typical Chicago fashion to get on television as boldly as | Read More »
Mr. Burris Goes to Washington [UPDATED]
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | December 30th at 03:02 PM |
UPDATED: The Illinois Secretary of State is refusing to certify the appointment. Blago could constitutionally force him to as it is a clerical act, but would he? ————————– Rod Blagojevich has laid hands in the pocket of Roland Burris and extracted a United States Senate appointment for him. That Burris would accept such an appointment means he is (A) an idiot; (B) corrupt as hell; | Read More »
