Silly Brian Beutler, It’s God, Not Mother Nature
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | December 18th at 10:23 PM |
Over at Talking Points Memo, Brian Beutler chronicles the follies of the Democrats and health care. Joe Lieberman has gone back to Connecticut in advance of the blizzard. This leaves the Democrats needing Republican votes to get back to health care. At the end of the article, Brian writes, “[D]on’t be surprised to hear a new Republican talking point: Even Mother Nature hates health care | Read More »
Senate Democrats on Verge of Deal
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | December 15th at 09:06 AM |
Don’t believe everything you hear. The Senate Democrats are not on the verge of a collapse. They are on the verge of compromising every single thing they want just so they can get a “health care reform” bill passed. Here’s what I’m being told: The Democrats have given Joe Lieberman everything he wanted. Joe will now vote for the bill. Ben Nelson (D-NE) is being | Read More »
Dear Left Wing Bloggers: Thank you for challenging Joe Lieberman!
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | October 27th at 02:44 PM |
Joe Lieberman just announced he will filibuster any health care legislation that has the public option in it. This pretty much guarantees the death of the public option in public form. The Democrats will now have to surreptitiously implement it through some sort of “let the states opt-out” or trigger option nonsense that will still amount to the public option. But at least they have | Read More »
Bill Kristol continues his one man campaign for Lieberman
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | August 25th at 08:10 AM |
For a long time Bill Kristol has used John McCain as the empty vessel of Kristol’s hopes and desires. John McCain may not be what Kristol wants, but Kristol imagines him so. Here is his latest. After floating the trial balloon of a Lieberman nomination a while back, it seems clear with today’s column that Kristol was floating the Lieberman nomination on his own, and | Read More »
Miscellaneous Morning Tidbits

Now that the Dem Veepstakes are resolved, on to the Republicans. Here’s what I can tell you. Joe Lieberman’s (I-CN) star has burned out on the veep spot. I’m told McCain very much wanted Lieberman, but the campaign has heard from enough people to know it won’t happen. Expect Lieberman to be a member of the Cabinet, letting Republican Governor Jodi Rell appoint his successor. | Read More »
Nothing Against Joe, But No
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | August 20th at 12:33 PM |
I like Joe Lieberman. He’d be a terrific Secretary of State. But I don’t want another old guy, particularly an old pro-choicer (though he was pro-life until he ran with Algore), being Vice President. I realize McCain loves history and we had the whole Lincoln-Johnson ticket at the start of the GOP, but this would be the end of the GOP — bookending the life | Read More »
Neither Tom Ridge Nor Joe Lieberman Will Be McCain’s Veep Pick
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | August 19th at 08:10 AM |
There are a lot of people getting really upset of late worrying that Tom Ridge or, to a lesser extent, Joe Lieberman, could be John McCain’s Vice Presidential Pick. That is not going to happen. People should step back from the ledge. Why do I know it won’t happen? John McCain does not get to be the Republican Presidential Nominee without (A) being a smart | Read More »
