Bachmann, Gingrich, and Romney. Oh My! And Then There’s Rick Perry.

I think Mitt Romney did not just win the New Hampshire debate by holding his own, but legitimately won it with his answers and composure. He was unnecessarily defensive on the Afghan question, but largely showed his experience with Presidential debates. The surprise last night was Michelle Bachmann. If there was a winner of the anti-Romney coalition, Michelle Bachmann not only won, but won by | Read More »
The Bachmann Speech
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | January 26th at 01:40 AM |
Much has been made of Michelle Bachmann’s “Tea Party” response to the State of the Union. For days the media has been playing this up as a major conflict within the Republican Party. In fact, a number of Republican leadership aides pulled out all the stops trying to get the networks to ignore Michelle Bachmann. Kudos to CNN for its willingness to cover the speech | Read More »
The Dumb Things I Heard Last Night a/k/a Charles Krauthammer Disappointed Me Last Night
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | November 9th at 07:22 AM |
There are a few dumb things I heard last night that need to be put down quickly. First and foremost was a silly discussion across several news networks that the race for GOP Conference Chair in the House between Jeb Hensarling and Michelle Bachmann was a race between the tea party and the establishment. To say that Michelle Bachmann is of the tea party and | Read More »
Hensarling-Bachmann
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | November 5th at 09:59 AM |
Quickly, I want to follow up on this earlier post to make sure the key nuggets get eyeballs. I think having Jeb Hensarling as Conference Chair and Michelle Bachmann as Vice Chair would be a powerful duo. Hensarling is a very substantive policy guy. Michelle Bachmann gave up campaigning for herself to go all over the country for Republicans this year. She deserves a seat | Read More »
“I’m delighted there are lobbyists in Washington.”
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | November 1st at 07:27 PM |
El Tinklenberg is the man who oversaw the Minnesota roads infrastructure that the nation witness collapse. He is also challenging Michelle Bachmann in MN-06. Here he is talking to a group of people in Minnesota about going to Washington and he is “delighted there are lobbyists in Washington.” Sounds just like the type of guy we need up there. A regular John Murtha.
The NRCC Problem
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | October 23rd at 09:01 AM |
Yesterday I vented about the NRCC pulling money from Michelle Bachmann’s race. A friend at the NRCC emailed me and pointed out that the NRCC is legally not allowed to talk to or coordinate with the Bachmann campaign for independent expenditures. It has to be an independent decision. And Tom Cole did not order the expenditures yanked. There is, in fact, a separate office from | Read More »
NRCC Yanks Funding From Michelle Bachmann (UPDATED)
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | October 22nd at 05:12 PM |
Let’s just call Tom Cole (R-OK), the head of the NRCC, what he is: a douchebag. Some of you will be upset by the language, but I think it is an accurate description. We chronicled for you the need to ditch Tom Cole from the NRCC months ago. Sure, we knew it was going to be a bad year, but Cole seemed more interested in | Read More »
