Freedom’s Slate
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | July 5th at 04:46 AM |
On this Independence Day, it is time to focus on improving the crop of Republican congressmen by examining some of the remaining Republican primaries. Want the GOP to stand up to Barack Obama? Tired of the GOP cutting deals? Want to make sure the GOP doesn’t back out of full and complete repeal of Obamacare if they sweep in November? Then you absolutely must support | Read More »

A Terrible, No Good, Awful Night for Barack Obama
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | May 9th at 04:46 AM |
One initial point to ponder: if the No-H8 campaign tries to fire up in North Carolina as the No-A1 campaign, people will wonder why they are campaigning against steak sauce. Probably won’t happen. North Carolina did not pass a ban on gay marriage as the media reports. Rather they refused to allow their definition of marriage to be changed. The marriage definition was put into | Read More »
Remember to Vote Yes to Amendment 1 In North Carolina
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | May 8th at 04:46 AM |
Today voters in North Carolina will go to the polls to consider Amendment 1, a constitutional amendment to ensure liberal judges and gay rights activists are prohibited from changing the definition of marriage under North Carolina law. Polls suggest the measure will pass. But then polls suggested the Personhood Amendment in Mississippi would also pass and it did not. The Republican Primary is largely over | Read More »
Eric Cantor’s Cage Is Rattled so I’m Giving $100.00 to Scott Keadle.
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | May 2nd at 05:39 PM |
The tea party is rattling Eric Cantor’s cage today. In response to this post this morning and the outcry from conservatives, Eric Cantor has decided to flood the zone in North Carolina to help congressional staffer Richard Hudson beat back local doctor Scott Keadle. Today, Cantor’s Young Guns PAC threw $53,000.00 into the race for a media buy. See the 24 hour notice: YG ACTION | Read More »
Will The Tea Party Fight or Retreat?
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | May 2nd at 04:46 AM |
Last night in Wisconsin the state Republican Party tried a few parliamentary maneuvers to drive tea party members from the ranks of the GOP. For reasons I cannot begin to fathom, the Wisconsin GOP seems willing to sacrifice tea party energy in the Scott Walker recall in order to save Tommy Thompson’s Senate bid. In Indiana, Eric Cantor has weighed in on behalf of Barack | Read More »
Governor Bev Perdue of North Carolina Wants to Cancel Elections
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | September 27th at 04:55 PM |
Would it be a violation of Godwin’s Law to point out that even the Nazis kept having elections even when we were bombing them? Heck, the United States continued having elections in the Civil War, World War I, and World War II. We didn’t put democracy on hold just because we felt like it. There is this thing called the constitution. But the constitution seems | Read More »
B. J. Lawson Might Shake Up NC-4
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | October 1st at 11:09 AM |
I’ve been saying for a while that there are congressional districts out there that’ll flip to the GOP in 30 days that were not even on the radar. Put NC–4 on the radar. Democrat Congressman David Price is running against Dr. B. J. Lawson who is giving Price a run for his money. Several polls have come out in the past couple of weeks showing | Read More »
What to do in Charlotte, NC
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | May 5th at 08:25 AM |
If you’re within a reasonable driving distance of Charlotte, NC and want to learn how to organize for a free America, you need to attend this event this weekend. Bar none, this is the best training you will ever get as a conservative activist. As an added bonus? You get to hang out with me. I’m serious. You need to put down your protest signs | Read More »
“Be A North Carolinian”
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | April 28th at 03:26 PM |
At least the Democrats are giving us a preview of what is in store should Dan Coats win the Indiana Republican Primary.

Kay Hagan Supports Atheists and Segregationists. Only in North Carolina, Folks.
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | October 19th at 03:54 PM |
Yesterday, I pointed out how Kay Hagan and the Godless America PAC are connected. Hagan is running against Senator Elizabeth Dole in North Carolina. To review: Godless America PAC wants to get all references to God off the money, out of the Pledge, and end Christmas as a federal holiday. One of their leaders got Kay Hagan to go up to Massachusetts for a big | Read More »
Kay Hagan Embraces Leaders of “Godless America PAC”
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | October 19th at 03:38 PM |
Two minutes and thirty seconds is all it takes to see why you need to support Elizabeth Dole. Two minutes and thirty seconds is really all it takes to watch this: What is it? It documents Kay Hagan’s ties to the Godless America PAC. Godless America PAC is a legitimate organization that denies there is any such thing as God. They want to remove “In | Read More »
We Must Keep the Democrats Under Sixty
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | October 15th at 09:21 AM |
It is no secret. This will not be a pleasant election for Congressional Republicans. It just won’t be. But we can and must work to minimize Democrat advantages. The best way to do that is to keep the Democrats from getting sixty seats in the Senate. Mitch McConnell, Elizabeth Dole, Norm Coleman, and Saxby Chambliss need our help. I’ve got issues with each of them. | Read More »
Viable Options

Up top one more time. Please note that I’ve added Saxby Chambliss. — Erick With only a few weeks left until election day, let’s be blunt: McCain-Palin ’08 does not seem to be making headway against the polling. McCain has one more debate in which he could, and we should hope that he does. At the same time, the Senate and House Republicans are going | Read More »
I told you guys Georgia was not in play.
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | August 22nd at 04:00 PM |
The Obama team realizes it too. Barack Obama’s presidential campaign has put the brakes on ads that were running in seven states carried by the GOP in the 2004 presidential election, FOX News has learned. Of the seven states — including Alaska, Georgia, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota — Florida and Virginia are considered key battlegrounds this year. Obama’s decision to stop advertising in those | Read More »
Where is Heath Shuler?
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | August 14th at 10:31 AM |
While Heath Shuler is not in Washington helping the voters of North Carolina, he did have time to help himself. TVA has approved a water-access deal for a development group whose investors include U.S. Rep. Heath Shuler, D-N.C., who sits on a committee that exercises oversight of the federal utility. Shuler goes back home and says he is fighting for lower gas prices and energy | Read More »
Senator Burr: Obama Will Probably Ignore Gen. Petraeus
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | July 15th at 10:49 AM |
This morning I talked to Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) about Senator Obama’s shifting positions on Iraq. He made a lot of great points worth repeating here. Initially, I asked him what he thought had brought about all of Obama’s policy shifts on Iraq. He said, as with all campaigns, Obama built his campaign around certain assumptions and then formed his policy positions from those assumptions. | Read More »
