Nikki Haley at the NRCC
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | March 23rd at 03:36 PM |
I was at a separate meeting in Florida a few weeks ago where Nikki Haley spoke. She left such a good impression people were still taking about her the next day. It’s not often you hear people putting Thatcher’s name in the same sentence with the Governor of one of the fifty states. She really left a strong, positive impression. Here’s her speech to the | Read More »
Time to Fire Up the Ed Rollins Strategy
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | September 14th at 08:18 AM |
It is time for the Democrats to fire up the Ed Rollins strategy. Back in 1990, Ed Rollins, who earlier this year had served as Michele Bachmann’s campaign manager, ran the National Republican Congressional Committee. This was “read my lips” time and the country really felt betrayed by President George H. W. Bush. Rollins took a gamble. He wrote a memo to GOP candidates in | Read More »
Targets
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | March 9th at 09:53 PM |
The NRCC has a list of targets in the House of Representatives on the health care vote. Go check the list, see if your congresscritter is on it, and pick up the phone. Tell ‘em to vote no on Obamacare.
James Carville Upset Over Something Called ‘Heath Insurance’
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | December 2nd at 08:00 AM |
The NRCC The GOP has come up with a great way for activists who do not trust the NRCC to get involved in defeating Democrats. [Editor’s Note: A friend at the NRCC highlighted this and so I thought the NRCC put it together. I’m told that, per the disclaimer on the website, this is a project of the various victory funds for the 24 races | Read More »
Leader Boehner Should Have Led
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | November 2nd at 03:48 PM |
These guys keep shooting themselves in the foot. “This lady clearly has as agenda that’s different than most Republicans, she was out there promoting herself,” Boehner said, noting that he has encouraged all members of the GOP conference to support Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman. Mr. Boehner, with respect, this was blindly obvious to all of us outside the Beltway. You guys have spent $900,000.00 | Read More »
It has been 48 hours and no one has been fired. The Pauline Kaels of the GOP Remain in Charge.
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | November 2nd at 08:00 AM |
On Friday, when Dede Scozzafava dropped out of NY-23, she said she hoped to work toward a “stronger GOP.” Yesterday, word began to break that Scozzafava and her husband are working with union activists to push her voters toward Bill Owens, the Democrat. I guess for Scozzafava, a stronger GOP means one in which the Democrat wins. It has been 48 hours since Dede Scozzafava | Read More »
The one way street: “conservatives better play nice.”
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | November 1st at 04:55 PM |
We hear this all time — conservatives in the GOP have to play nice with the moderates. We never hear the other, that moderates should play nice with conservatives. Why is that? Consider the facts: In Michigan’s 7th Congressional District, conservative Tim Walberg challenged the very liberal Joe Schwartz in the 2006 Republican Primary and won. Walberg went on to win the general election. In | Read More »
It has been 24 Hours and Pete Sessions Still Remains Chairman of the NRCC
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | November 1st at 12:00 PM |
It has been 24 hours since Dede Scozzafava dropped out of NY-23 and neither Pete Session nor any of his loyal lieutenants have lost their jobs or quit to save face. Until that happens, there will be no real sign that they get it. Without heads rolling we cannot roll on to victory. Sadly, it is that simple.
Having Sat on His Hands Refusing to Help the GOP In Its Suicide Bid, But Remaining a Loyal Lieutenant, Mike Pence is Finally Free to Do What He’s Always Wanted
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | October 31st at 03:40 PM |
Mike Pence refused to endorse Dede Scozzafava. Being, however, the Chairman of the House Republican Conference, it really would have been bad form of him to go all in with Hoffman. Being in that position demands some party loyalty. So behind the scenes Pence has made clear he was unhappy with this whole sordid mess and has refused to cooperate or fund the madness. BREAKING: We PWND The NRCC. Dede Scozzafava Drops Out. GOP Establishment Dies on Our Hill.
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | October 31st at 11:32 AM |
Dede Scozzafava has dropped out of the NY-23 race. In her statement, she said I hereby release those individuals who have endorsed and supported my campaign to transfer their support as they see fit to do so. I am and have always been a proud Republican. It is my hope that with my actions today, my Party will emerge stronger and our District and our | Read More »
The NRCC Concedes Defeat in NY-23
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | October 30th at 12:12 PM |
That’s what it looks like and it reflects what I’ve been hearing too. The NRCC tells me directly that they are only spending money on anti-Owens ads. The anti-Hoffman YouTube? Gone. The anti-Hoffman press releases? Gone. The anti-Hoffman everything else? Gone. The pro-Dede Scozzafava stuff? Gone too. The RNC ground crews? They are pulling out to New Jersey. The Dede Scozzafava campaign says this is | Read More »

By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | October 27th at 04:53 PM |
Of course they want you to help Dede Scozzafava, but this could be fun. I guess I accidentally got put on the mail list: Subject: NY23 Phone Banks Date: Tue, 27 Oct 2009 11:40:26 -0400 From: calltoarms@NRCC.org To: calltoarms@NRCC.org We want to reward your hard work! Tom Cole Goes With Hoffman
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | October 27th at 02:34 PM |
I leveled withering criticism at Tom Cole two years ago for what I thought were some seriously wrong decisions while chairing the NRCC, but I may have to take it all back. He just endorsed Doug Hoffman. Yeah, you read that right — Rep. Tom Cole, the former head of the National Republican Congressional Committee, just endorsed Hoffman over the establishment GOP’s pick. Well done, | Read More »
David Harmer and the National GOP’s Screwed Up Priorities
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | October 20th at 03:27 PM |
There could be a serious upset in a congressional special election this year and it is going under the radar. John Fund took notice of it yesterday. David Harmer is the Republican running in a special election to fill Ellen Tauscher’s seat in Congress. The Democrat, Lt. Governor John Garamendi, is favored to win, but is only polling 41% to Harmer’s 34%. Interestingly, poling in | Read More »
Do the RNC, NRCC, and Dede Scozzafava condone eugenics and sterilization of the poor and minorities?
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | October 16th at 08:28 PM |
I hate to have to ask the question, but in light of this news broken by Michelle Malkin today, we must. Scozzafava is the proud recipient of the Margaret Sanger award given by an abortion group in New York. Margaret Sanger was a noted eugenicist. Though Planned Parenthood, the group Sanger found, denies it, evidence from a variety of sources points out that Sanger was | Read More »

We may soon see if there is significant fall out over the comedy in Albany
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | July 14th at 03:30 PM |
For the past month, New York residents have been treated to a comedy of the absurd it their General Assembly. First the Democrats controlled the Senate. Then a man who beat up a woman jumped ship to the GOP along with another guy. The GOP took over. The Democrats walked out leaving the State Senate without a quorum. Then the Democrats boarded themselves up in | Read More »
Democrats Could Pick Up a Seat in PA
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | July 14th at 02:30 PM |
Not good for House Republicans. Rep. Jim Gerlach has told National Republican Congressional Committee officials that he is running for governor, a GOP source confirmed Tuesday, making his competitive southeastern Pennsylvania district a prime Democratic pick up opportunity in 2010. The Allentown Morning Call first reported that the four-term Republican has opted to run for governor, ensuring that his suburban Philadelphia 6th district seat will | Read More »
Um . . .
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | June 23rd at 09:29 AM |
No thanks. It’s not that I don’t want the GOP in charge, it’s just I’ve never seen running against a personality to be an effective approach. God knows Jim Marshall would be toast in GA-08 if running against Nancy Pelosi were a winning strategy. And perhaps we don’t need to make it about incumbent personalities, but actual, factual, challengers to Democrat incumbents. Oh, and, unless | Read More »
The NRCC Needs Some Help Meeting Their Fundraising Goal
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | March 31st at 09:28 AM |
The NRCC needs our help. They are only $50,000 away from their March 31st fundraising goal. Please help them reach their goal by making your contribution before Tuesday at midnight. John Boehner, Pete Sessions, Eric Cantor, Mike Pence and Kevin McCarthy, have pledged to match the first $50,000 in contributions to double their strength – meaning every dollar contributed up to $50,000 will be doubled. | Read More »
