Dear Kelly Ayotte, Ron Johnson, Mike Lee, Rob Portman, Rand Paul, and Marco Rubio
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | July 23rd at 11:44 PM |
Welcome to the Senate. It ain’t easy, is it? Here’s the thing you need to know. Right now, you are probably telling yourself you need to be reasonable. You are probably telling yourself you need to cut a deal. I’m willing to bet you are telling yourself you should do something short term and in six more months or whenever, after everything has calmed back | Read More »
Jon Kyl and Mitch McConnell Are Whipping Colleagues to Oppose Gun Protections
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | May 26th at 04:48 PM |
I just received an email that Senator Jon Kyl sent out the below email to colleagues urging them to oppose a Rand Paul amendment to the PATRIOT Act that would protect gun rights. The GOP in the Senate is encouraging colleagues to oppose this and, humorously, is doing nothing to take a stand on Paul Ryan‘s budget other than encouraging moderates to oppose it. With | Read More »
The McConnell Defenders
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | May 12th at 12:45 PM |
It never ceases to amaze me that so many self-described conservatives will defend Mitch McConnell and the GOP Senate Leaders to the hilt when it comes to their treatment of Senate conservatives. Last night, I noted that Mitch McConnell had snubbed Jim DeMint by putting Richard Burr in the Finance Committee. “But wait,” whined the alleged conservative defenders of McConnell. “Richard Burr had seniority.” Well | Read More »

Jack Conway is the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Jack Conway’s brother, Matt, was a prosecuting attorney for Jefferson County, Kentucky. Matt has been under investigation for possible drug use or drug trafficking. Louisville, KY narcotics detectives tipped off Matt Conway twice that he was under investigation. The investigation has been compromised. Matt Conway and the tow detectives who tipped him off have | Read More »
Democrats Think Jack Conway’s Desperation Has Grown “Very Dangerous”
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | October 18th at 10:42 AM |
Things must be really bad for Jack Conway. He’s gone on offense against Rand Paul with attacks that (a) reach back to college days and (b) are filled with lies. When asked about it over the weekend, Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill called Conway’s tactics “very dangerous.” Conway is directly attacking Rand Paul’s faith. It’s not only very dangerous, it is also disgusting. As Senator McCaskill | Read More »
Jack Conway Using His Position in Kentucky to Kill Small Businesses
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | September 14th at 09:20 PM |
Jack Conway is the Democrats’ Senate nominee in Kentucky. He is also Kentucky’s Attorney General. And Conway is on a one man mission to kill a large number of small businesses in Kentucky. He’s also abusing his position to help a major Kentucky business in the process. Here’s the deal. When you pass a FedEx truck on the road, you are passing a small businessman. | Read More »
Conservatives Have Won Nothing. You Read It Right. NOTHING.
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | September 1st at 10:24 AM |
It has come to this, I’m afraid. We need to keep our perspective. Conservatives have won nothing. Nothing. Ken Buck you say? Sharron Angle? Mike Lee? Pat Toomey? Marco Rubio? Joe Miller? Rand Paul? Nikki Haley? Here, pay attention: they are all candidates. Yes, yes — we won primaries. Contrary to popular opinion that conservatives wanted a purge of party, we instead played smartly — | Read More »
Democrat Jack Conway Uses Racist Tyler Clay Collins to Smear Rand Paul
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | August 10th at 07:00 AM |
Democrat and Jack Conway supporter Tyler Clay Collins went to the Kentucky Fancy Farm Picnic this past weekend (a big deal in Kentucky) and began mouthing off some vile and offensive racist sentiments. Tyler Clay Collins also held up a sign disparaging immigrants to the country. Tyler Clay Collins wanted everyone to know how much he hates non-white immigrants to the United States. Tyler Clay | Read More »
The Press and Left Are Lying About Rand Paul
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | May 20th at 11:38 AM |
Have you read what Rand Paul actually said about the Civil Rights Act? Because the media and left are out saying Rand Paul would have opposed the 1964 Civil Rights Act. He never said he would have voted against the Civil Rights Act. In fact, he said he supported key provisions in the Civil Rights Act. Here is the relevant portion of the transcript: SIEGEL: | Read More »
Sorry Trey, Try Again
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | May 12th at 05:24 PM |
Now that the DeMint endorsement of Rand Paul and the McConnell endorsement of Trey Grayson have soaked into the bluegrass political landscape, the question is this: whose did more good? I think we now know. Rand Paul is starting the last week of the Kentucky primary 16 points ahead of Trey Grayson. I may need to get up to Bowling Green next week for this.
Everything You Need to Know About Why Voting Rand Paul Makes Sense
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | May 12th at 09:43 AM |
Let’s ignore the lies Trey Grayson is telling about Rand Paul and just look at the debate from the other night. This pretty much encapsulates the debate, except it is really hard to convey the total level of smugness that exudes from Trey Grayson. South Park could do a follow up to their smug cloud episode and move to Kentucky where it’d just follow Trey | Read More »
Trey Grayson’s Own Polling Shows Him Losing Ground
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | May 3rd at 03:13 PM |
There are lots of independent polls out in Kentucky and virtually every single one shows Rand Paul ahead of Trey Grayson. The only poll in the last few months that had Trey Grayson ahead of Rand Paul was Trey Grayson’s own poll. And guess what? According to Grayson’s latest campaign poll, he has lost ground to Paul and they are now tied. This doesn’t help | Read More »
The Good Lord Giveth and the Good Lord Taketh Away
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | May 3rd at 10:18 AM |
Trey Grayson is getting endorsed by Hal Rogers this morning in Kentucky. The man has been in Congress since 1981. In this election year it might not be the image a Republican would want to have, but Trey Grayson is embracing this endorsement with open arms. There’s just one problem. That’s not the big story in Kentucky today. The big story is James Dobson. Last | Read More »
Kentucky’s Republican Secretary of State Thinks Conservative Activists Are Extremists
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | April 26th at 04:00 PM |
Another reason I’m with Rand Paul? In an editorial board meeting in Kentucky, Trey Grayson is asked what he thinks about the “extremist,” Jim DeMint. His response? Well, he does not defend DeMint and likeminded conservatives from the “extremist” label. What he does do is go on about how Jim DeMint has been a harsh critic of Mitch McConnell for working with Democrats, then praises | Read More »
Rand Paul and Me
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | April 19th at 11:00 AM |
I’ve been getting a lot of flack among friends on our side for my support of Rand Paul. It’s understandable. He is Ron Paul’s son. I’m not a Ron Paul fan. Notably, Rand is more often than not accused of taking a position that is not his, but is his father’s. My friend Dan Riehl has captured a lot of it. Erick seems to have | Read More »
The Trouble with Trey Grayson: Attacking Conservative Ideas and Sarah Palin
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | April 15th at 09:00 AM |
I know some of you have a hard time supporting Rand Paul, mostly because of his dad. In fact, most of the attacks hurled at Rand have been about his father’s positions, confusing the two. To be fair though, I don’t agree with all of Rand’s positions. But let’s look at the NRSC’s favored candidate Trey Grayson for just a minute. The man has refused | Read More »
Terrific Article on Rand Paul
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | March 14th at 04:53 PM |
It is looking more and more like Rand Paul is going to make it through the Kentucky GOP Primary. There is a great article out today that I encourage you to read if you are on the fence. Grayson has attacked Rand Paul as being in favor of abortion and legalizing drugs, perhaps confusing Rand’s positions with those of his even-more-libertarian father. Rand Paul calls | Read More »
On Rand Paul
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | March 1st at 11:49 AM |
Were I living in Kentucky on May 18th, I’d willingly and gladly go vote for Rand Paul for the United States Senate. On Sunday, I listed the candidates I was all in for. Rand Paul was not on the list and I’ve gotten a lot of blow back from people for saying I’d support him twitter, but not putting him on that list. I wanted | Read More »
