Rick Scott Wins
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | July 16th at 08:30 AM |
Eric Holder and Janet Napolitano have cried “uncle”. He is throwing in the towel on a legal challenge against Governor Rick Scott (R-FL). Governor Scott’s team down in Florida discovered a large number of people on the voter rolls who were not eligible to vote in Florida. They then discovered that more than a thousand of those people had actually voted in Florida elections. The | Read More »
Happy Birthday RedState. Will You Join Gov. Rick Scott and Me in Florida?
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | July 16th at 04:45 AM |
Josh Trevino posted this on January 24, 2004, at his blog Tacitus. Seven months later RedState.com came online. We’ve come along way since 2004. In our fifth year, we started the RedState Gathering. I put up a post without even telling my bosses at Eagle Publishing what I was up to. I just knew some of us wanted to get together in person after five | Read More »
Former (Ha Ha Ha) Congressman Alan Grayson Still Stupid
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | March 13th at 05:39 PM |
Former (Hahahahahahaha) Congressman Alan Grayson took to a public former to declare Florida Governor Rick Scott like Al Qaeda. He said, “Putting Rick Scott in charge of a state is like putting Al-Qaida as the pilot of an airplane.” He also declared Rick Scott wants to turn Florida into Somalia. H/t to Secular Stupidest.
BREAKING: Rick Scott Wins
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | March 4th at 12:18 PM |
The Florida Supreme Court has ruled that Governor Rick Scott can reject high-speed rail funds from the federal government. Scott had decided to decline high-speed rail funds for a Tampa to Orlando line and two state legislators sued him. The Florida Supreme Court had put the bipartisan lawsuit filed Tuesday on a fast track because LaHood had given Scott until Friday to accept the money. | Read More »
Alex Sink Drips
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | October 26th at 06:00 AM |
Alex Sink and Rick Scott agreed before hand to the rules of their debate. One of the rules was that they’d not take notes messages or converse with staff during the debate. Alex Sink, during the debate, sung her own praises about how she always follows the rules. Then her makeup artist came in and handed her a note with a message. During the debate. | Read More »
Alex Sink Loves Felons
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | October 18th at 05:00 AM |
I am a diehard Karen Handel supporter for Governor of Georgia. I believe Nathan Deal won the nomination by lying about Handel’s record. After Deal’s nomination, we now see what appears to be insurmountable allegations of corruption, bad business deals, near bankruptcy, etc. But all things being equal, I’ll be voting for Nathan Deal while holding my nose because even with all his problems, he | Read More »
The Real Rick Scott
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | October 16th at 11:33 AM |
As you know, I’m a fan of Rick Scott. I’ve known him for quite a while. I realize there is still ambivalence among a number of Bill McCollum supporters to support Rick, but I hope they will reconsider. Please read this article that came out late yesterday profiling Rick Scott. It’s in the Gulf Coast Business Review and really lays out everything you’d want to | Read More »
I love this ad

Rick Scott is back on the air with new ads, including this one. I really like it. Really like it.
Be Careful What You Wish For
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | September 8th at 11:14 AM |
Tom Daschle’s son says Rick Scott is the Democrats’ dream candidate in Florida. “We couldn’t have asked for a better candidate to run against, simply because Rick scott I think represents all that is going on in the Republican party right now and has a very clear contrast with Alex Sink.” He ought to be careful what he wishes for. The Democrats said the same | Read More »
Lessons for Conservatives From the Rick Scott Campaign
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | August 25th at 03:09 PM |
A lot of people are going to want to put their head in the sand and claim Rick Scott bought the Florida GOP’s gubernatorial primary. The facts make it clear that this is nonsense. Yes, Rick Scott did spend $40 million. But more than $20 million was spent just to attack Rick Scott. Scott spent his money not just drawing very sharp contrasts with Bill | Read More »
Rick Scott Wins
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | August 25th at 02:31 AM |
It was one of the nastiest primaries anyone could remember in Florida. Scott and McCollum spent millions attacking each other — Scott with his own fortune and McCollum with a great deal of third party group money. McCollum’s campaign orchestrated stunt after stunt to highlight the baggage Scott would bring to the general election, but it was not enough. Rick Scott, a conservative businessman and | Read More »
I’m Still Perturbed by This
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | August 13th at 12:15 PM |
The Bill McCollum campaign in Florida is lamely trying to deny they had anything to do with that stupid lawsuit against Rick Scott. They’ve also decided that because I am defending Scott in this that I must be a shill for Scott. Were I shilling for Scott, given my track record, I would be endorsing the guy. I am not and that is not the | Read More »
The Bill McCollum Campaign Looks Desperate and Dead to Integrity
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | August 11th at 05:00 AM |
“Here we have the Attorney General of Florida abusing his office to destroy a company all to help his standing in the polls.” Holy cow. I never would have thought I’d see Bill McCollum stoop to cheap political tricks to try to boost his poll numbers. Short of putting a dead girl or live boy in Rick Scott’s trunk, I don’t think McCollum could have | Read More »
Rick Scott Continues to Lead Bill McCollum in Florida
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | August 3rd at 10:10 AM |
The gubernatorial race in Florida continues to surprise me. Bill McCollum, the unquestionably conservative Attorney General and former congressman who played a part in Bill Clinton’s impeachment, is losing to a novice politician and former hospital CEO. With just three weeks until Election Day, and early voting beginning next week, Scott is beating McCollum in every demographic and geographic category of likely GOP voters, said | Read More »
Milquetoast McCollum vs. the Hillarycare Killer
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | May 27th at 07:00 AM |
I have paid little attention to the race for Governor in Florida. But that race is getting more and more interesting. Friends of mine have been pushing me to weigh in on one side, then the other. Lately, however, a multitude of people have asked me to weigh in on this business with Rick Scott. He guest posted once here about Obamacare and I’ve defended | Read More »
Nancy-Ann DeParle is the Non Sequitur of Obama Appointees
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | September 16th at 06:00 AM |
George Will has a good column this week pointing out why no one believes Barack Obama. The man chronically says two things that contradict each other. One of those is on medicare and “waste, fraud, and abuse.” Will writes: He says Medicare is an exemplary program that validates government’s prowess at running health systems. But he also says Medicare is unsustainable and going broke, and | Read More »
The Return of the Politics of Personal Destruction
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | June 16th at 09:14 AM |
During the Clinton years, Newt Gingrich and Ken Starr were household names vilified as Republican Torquemadas. During the Bush years, the Democrats turned the Republicans into the party of Trent Lott, Tom DeLay, Karl Rove, Dick Cheney, and Mark Foley. It was this type of politics that candidate Barack Obama campaigned to end. In fact, Obama was often quoted saying we need to get away | Read More »
The Left’s Distraction on Health Care
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | May 10th at 09:54 PM |
In the battle over healthcare reform, one man has become a thorn in the side of the left and the left’s reaction to his talking points is an interesting story in how the left fights. Rick Scott, the former CEO of Columbia/HCA, has started a group called Conservatives for Patients’ Rights (“CPR”). In a new ad campaign, CPR is doing what we all should be | Read More »
The Health Care Debate Begins
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | March 27th at 09:20 AM |
This is great. It was only a matter of time before someone linked the AIG mess to healthcare. The ad, by Conservatives Patients Rights Action Fund puts in context what a Congressional healthcare overhaul would mean: Just how dangerous are these ads? The left has decided to totally ignore the message and focus on savaging Rick Scott, the head of the organization. They are deeply | Read More »
