Supporting Nikki Haley Must be a Priority, Even if You Don’t Live in South Carolina
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | March 29th at 11:18 AM |
I’m sure some people get tired of me saying it, but we have to get conservatives elected nation wide. It is not enough to focus on Washington. It is not enough to focus on our own state. We need to look across the country and find good conservatives down to the local level. That’s one reason I like groups like American Majority. They are going | Read More »
Nikki Haley’s Money Bomb
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | March 23rd at 12:03 PM |
Folks, if you read my post on how we do it, you need to understand that intrinsically we cannot do it just at the federal level. We must have state leaders who will zealously defend the states’ turf against the feds. We have to raise up conservative leaders in the states because with strong conservatives in the states, we stand a greater chance of rebuilding | Read More »
Another Day Another Attack by a Republican Against Jim DeMint
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | March 18th at 09:43 AM |
This time the Politico is reporting on Senator Inhofe’s attacks. Inhofe, occasionally rated as the most conservative senator in Washington, uses that label with pride to give cover to his huge porkfest. As we’ve seen repeatedly, earmarks always lead to bigger government. Inhofe, betraying his “most conservative” label, just the other day sided with the Democrats on their jobs bill solely because it funneled gobs | Read More »
Mitt Romney does good today. Endorses Nikki Haley.
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | March 16th at 02:21 PM |
We’ve been after Mitt Romney for a while for not going all in for Doug Hoffman or Marco Rubio then coming out for Bob Bennett. Today he is really redeeming himself. Romney is going all in for Nikki Haley in South Carolina. The endorsement comes today. Huge news. CNN is now reporting on it (insert disclosure here related to post below). Haley is going up | Read More »
Getting Jeff Duncan to Congress
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | March 8th at 01:39 PM |
Jeff Duncan’s website is revised and live. I’m all in for this campaign. Duncan is a terrific candidate and true-blue through and through conservative. We can push this seat to the right and keep it in Republican hands. I hope you might consider supporting him. The major competitor in the race is a fiscal squish who is going to not be good on either taxes | Read More »
Nikki Haley On TV

We need this woman in office. Help her.
December 31st Looms
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | December 29th at 10:29 AM |
“The last day of freedom comes if we do not elect freedom fighters. And Nikki Haley fights for freedom.” I would normally put up a post at this time of year with several candidates you might want to give money to. But right now we need to focus on one candidate because we have done a lot for a lot of people, but we need | Read More »
Senator Jim DeMint Steps Up Again to Lead. McClatchy Newspapers Cries.
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | December 29th at 07:00 AM |
McClatchy Newspapers is the alleged “news” organization that runs terrorist propaganda out of Iraq as legitimate news. It’s Washington editor tried very hard to push local McClatchy reporters in North Carolina to write damaging stories on Blackwater. It hired anonymous Iraqis during the Iraq War to write lots of unverifiable stories about the horrors of American soldiers. Today, in another example of its bias, its | Read More »
Nikki Haley Rising
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | December 22nd at 01:24 PM |
A new poll from South Carolina shows State Representative Nikki Haley has moved into third place (PDF) ahead of Congressman Gresham Barrett. Attorney General Henry McMaster and Lt. Governor Andrew Bauer are tied at 22% with Haley moving up to 13%. This is really good news for Haley. She’s moved up in the polling and is now ahead of an otherwise popular sitting Congressman. Significantly, | Read More »
Why we must unite behind Nikki Haley. All of us.
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | December 17th at 12:40 PM |
Interestingly, as I write this, word comes from the paper that one of the GOP candidates for Governor of South Carolina, has been AWOL from his day job. Gresham Barrett, a South Carolina Congressman, has been absent from more votes in the United States House of Representatives than any other Congressman, Democrat or Republican. Barrett is, like the other guys in the race, a good | Read More »
The Poll Republican Establishment Types Would Prefer You Ignore
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | December 9th at 11:08 AM |
What are we told about conservatives by the Republican establishment? Let’s see: they need to be seen and not heard, they are hurting us with independents, their philosophy is outmoded, they stand for nothing but “no,” and if we move right the voters will reject us. What do we know from reality? As Republicans stood up to Obama, their polling among independents went up. Independents | Read More »
Nice Guys Only Finish Last If We Let Them
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | December 7th at 08:50 AM |
We have all heard the saying “nice guys finish last.” Why is that exactly? It seems to me that nice guys only finish last if we let them. In this coming election year, we have the chance to get some nice guys (and ladies) elected. Over the past few years, the establishment GOP has become bloated, corrupt, greedy, inept, licentious, devoid of ideas, and weak. | Read More »
GTMO Terrorists Headed For South Carolina Under Pentagon Orders
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | November 2nd at 09:40 AM |
James Galyean is a candidate running for South Carolina’s 3rd Congressional District. Prior to that time, Galyean was an Assistant United States Attorney and also has some pretty direct connections to the War on Terror. It was Galyean who helped helped write both the Detainee Treatment Act of 2005 and the Military Commissions Act of 2006. As a result, he has a bed of knowledge | Read More »
Familial Fall Out
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | September 15th at 05:26 PM |
Joe Wilson’s son Alan Wilson is running for Attorney General in South Carolina. I know nothing about Alan Wilson, but he’s Joe’s son and he’s coming under a withering attack because of what his father did. Shortly after the revolution, colonials would abuse and often punish the sons of tories, those who had supported King George. When the Constitution was written, the Founders prohibited punishment | Read More »
Reality Check on Joe Wilson
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | September 15th at 04:44 PM |
The left has made a lot of hay over Joe Wilson’s opponent’s stellar fundraising since last Wednesday. But what about Joe and what about his district? I’m told that Wilson now has collected just under $2 million dollars online and has “mountains” of mail to be opened with lots of checks there. As I said the other day, a lot of the people who’d be | Read More »
I’m a Republican
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | September 14th at 12:23 PM |
This is very well done. The South Carolina Republican Party has put together the video below. It launches tomorrow throughout the state. I know a lot of you have all sorts of ideas for advertising for the GOP. I know because many of you email these things to me. It looks like the South Carolina Republican Party has been getting the same stuff, because this | Read More »
Libertarians and Conservatives should rally around Nikki Haley
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | August 2nd at 10:06 PM |
I’ve meant, for a while, to comment on Stephen Gordon’s post from back in May about the GOP needing libertarians more than libertarians needs the GOP. I think he has some merit to his argument, but I would say that libertarians and conservatives both need the GOP and need each other. They are not always going to agree. There will be fights over the drug | Read More »
The Real Lessons of Mark Sanford’s “Hike”
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | June 24th at 06:01 PM |
Well, what I wrote yesterday was wrong. Sanford’s lies spread through his office and out to the rest of us. The left is linking to yesterday’s post to laugh at it. What they are missing is that most of us tend to give people the benefit of the doubt — even people like John Edwards. We live in a fallen world and we ourselves are | Read More »

The Lessons of Mark Sanford’s Hike
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | June 23rd at 10:23 AM |
First, we need to be clear on the facts — not the media speculation: Sanford did tell his staff and family where he was going. Because he was traveling without a security detail, it was in his best interests that no one knew he was gone. His political enemies — Republicans at that — ginned up the media story. When confronted by a pestering media, | Read More »
