Stop the madness

Election '08

A handup. Not a handout

I agree with Joe. We now all just know him as “Joe, the plumber”. But this simple man like myself makes a lot of sense. This country is not a welfare state. I don’t need or want Senator Obama’s supposed tax breaks (one first has to believe that someone who has not been favorable to giving tax breaks in the past would do it now) if it comes from increasing the taxes of another hard working American like myself. And I definitely do not want to see someone get a tax refund check when they are not paying any taxes at all. During these troubled economic times, no taxpayer should be getting an increase to their taxes. It makes zero economic sense. Senator McCain and Governor Palin want to provide Americans a handup, not a handout.

Stop the madness

All one hears from Senator Obama and his democrat friends in Congress are that we need to spend. Spend more. We are hearing it again today when they are talking about spending another $150 billion of our money, most likely to fund their own pet projects. If there is a problem, the democrats solve it by throwing more money at it. Our tax dollars and our children’s future goes right out the window. There is no excuse for it. Each and every household in this great country of ours has to live on a budget, why can’t our federal and state governments. It’s time to stop the madness and cut our government spending. Senator McCain and Governor Palin have both been leaders in going after wasteful spending and once in office they will continue this process to get our country back on track.

Insurance for all

It’s time that our country provides healthcare insurance to all. Not everyone is fortunate enough to get insurance paid for by his or her employer. To me this would be one of those basic rights that as good and compassionate Americans we would probably all agree is needed. However, is the answer to have our federal government get much bigger in the process? Has our government ever shown that it can provide the most efficient and effective way to solve a problem? I would argue no. Do we really believe that our federal government would reduce health care costs, as Senator Obama likes to believe. Please. Senator McCain and Governor Palin want to provide healthcare to all Americans, but put the burden of cost containment and cost reduction back into the private sector where it belongs. I know one thing for sure, that I do not want some government bureaucrat in Washington telling me what medical care my family needs. This is my choice, not theirs.

It’s the President

How much does it matter that we, as citizens of this great country, trust the character of our leaders, especially the President. Well, that’s simple. It is the most important issue facing a voter. You must start with that fundamental thing called trust. Without it, nothing else begins to matter. This is what my democrat friends on the other side of the political isle seem to be missing when it comes to Senator Obama’s past associations. We all know them so I will not repeat them here. Do we know how deep his relationships with these individuals go. No we do not. Because Senator Obama, his campaign and the media have all been far from truthful in explaining these matters. So until I hear the truth about his associations, nothing else begins to matter.

Spend it wisely

Why are we sending hundreds of billions of dollars each and every year importing oil from countries that do not have our best interests at heart. Does this make sense to anyone in this country? First, we need to drill in our own country. And yes that would mean in Alaska too. We have all recently seen the disastrous results of our reliance on foreign oil, especially from countries that are not truly our friends. It’s time to begin utilizing our own resources. Second, begin working towards energy independence and energy diversification. This means that we need to diversify our sources of energy. We should not only be relying on oil, but moving towards using more nuclear, wind, solar and many other alternate sources to diversify our reliance away from just one energy source. Third, why don’t we import the oil that we need from countries that are our true friends and allies. How about our neighbors. By importing from our friends we end up helping their economies as well as our own. It would be a true win-win situation and would give us time to diversify our energy sources.

Throwing out the good with the bad

It is very apparent to all that American’s are really mad. They should be. We have a great capitalist society that unfortunately at times is overshadowed by greedy and self-serving individuals. This economic cycle is no different. But I would say to those out their that are mad to not throw out the good with the bad. It seems the American public just wants to blame this entire mess on the Bush administration and on all of the republicans in Congress. I am certain that a few probably should be thrown out. But if one really looks into how this mess got started and eventually grew into the problem we are facing today then look no further than many of our democrat leaders in Congress. Individuals such as Barney Frank and Chuck Schumer, Pelosi and Reid were front and center in sending us down this road and when pushed by many republicans in both the Bush administration and Congress to regulate Fannie and Freddie Mac just said that their was not a problem. So I would urge all of you reading this that we need to be wise in our choices of those that will be leading us in the future. Put into office those that are looking out for our interests as Americans. The question that we all have to ask ourselves is what will happen to our great country if, because of our temporarily being mad at our leaders and just wanting to make someone pay, that we throw out the good leaders and put more bad ones in. Do we really want a liberal democrat controlled Congress and on top of that vote in a liberal democrat President who has very little experience, very debatable judgement and what appears to be no tolerance for bucking up against his party. Just think a lot higher taxes and government wasteful spending. Because that is what we will see. I have already answered that question in my own mind.

Tough times

These are tough times. We all know it. We are all living it. But as it has been in the past it will also be in the future. We will get through these tough times. But we need to give ourselves the best chance to accomplish this. I’m not one to listen to rhetoric. It does not pay the bills or send my kids to college and talk has certainly never propelled us into the future. Only actions will accomplish that. Rhetoric is simply that, rhetoric. No matter how fancy they are spoken and lately that is all some people are interested in hearing. Even over substance. What this country needs is a President who has served this country from the time he was 17 years of age. Serving it with honor and distinction. We need a leaders like Senator John McCain and Governor Palin who understand what toughness truly is and understands us as proud Americans. I want a hero for my President, not a wordsmith.
