Nebraska State Senator’s Lawsuit Against God Tossed Out, But Not For The Reason You’d Think.

What a surprise. A Democrat filed a lawsuit against God in a County Court.

Once again, I am left speechless, along with laughing and crying at the same time for what has become of our country, our judicial system and some of our people.

I was intending to get all bitingly snarky on every sentence of this story, but I won’t. I don’t know if I’d stop short of calling for permanent mental ward confinement…….for myself.

This case was actually entertained for over a year and dismissed on a technicality. The case was NOT dismissed outright on merits.

Facts of the case: September 14th 2007 in Douglas County Court, Omaha Nebraska, State Senator Ernie Chambers (D-11th District, Omaha) filed documents before the bench asking for a “permanent injunction ordering Defendant to cease certain harmful activities and the making of terroristic threats.” The court documents filed by State Senator Chambers also state that the “defendant directly and proximately has caused, inter alia, fearsome floods, egregious earthquakes, horrendous hurricanes, terrifying tornados, pestilential plagues…” Additionally, Senator Chambers said the defendant caused “widespread death, destruction and terrorisation of millions upon millions of the Earth’s inhabitants”.

The defendant named: God.

Fast-forward to October 16th 2008
(That’s right, 13 months later.)

Douglas County District Court Judge Marlon Polk ruled under Nebraska State Law that all plaintiffs “must have access to the Defendant for a lawsuit to move forward - and this would be rather tricky under the circumstances.”

Judge Polk said: “Given that this court finds that there can never be service effectuated on the named defendant this action will be dismissed with prejudice.”

Translated: We have to serve an appearance subpoena Senator Chambers, so what’s God’s address ?

“So, we are finally done with this”, says the Nebraskan Taxpayer.

Not so fast. Holdeth thine quarter horses.

Senator Chambers is positive he’s found the gateway to assure continuance.

“The court itself acknowledges the existence of God”, said Senator Chambers. “A consequence of that acknowledgment is a recognition of God’s omniscience. Since God knows everything, God has notice of this lawsuit.”

Senator Chambers has been part of the Nebraska State Legislature for over 38 years and has 30 days to file an appeal.

Back up a sec.

More than thirty-eight years he’s been an elected official ? That means citizens of Nebraska put him there and continue to do so ?

I’m sorry Nebraskans, but you now deserve this State Senator, the Judge too and all that they bring.

Notes: I researched this via public databases, UK News Sources and other means, including a phone call to a friend in Nebraska to make sure I wasn’t completely insane.

Just a little paranoid. There’s a lot of crazy people out there who do and say crazy things. That’s just the way life is. I’d suggest ignoring the vast majority of it. I find life is far more pleasant that way.

Kenny, I've lived in Nebraska

for 20 years and Chambers never ceases to amaze us.
Chambers has won re-election several times over because he represents a largely African American district and is a HUGE race-baiter. You’re talking about a man who calls white police offices “crackers” on his public access TV shows, has somehow gotten bizzare laws thrown through the legislature like having all police chiefs in all counties fax in numbers on how many people of each ethnicity they’ve pulled over for the month, does absolutely nothing for all the gang violence in his district, worked to segregate student in the Omaha Public Schools District, and calls other black people “Uncle Tom” or “Aunt Jemaimah” if he disagrees with him.
He’s a hate-filled man who uses the race card to get re-elected; however, the unicameral here now has term limits, so thank the Lord he can’t curse the state senate anymore.
Nebraska, unfortunately, is no stranger to strange laws or strange people. We’ve taken a hit because of a poorly written “safe haven law” that was designed where mothers of newborns can drop them off at a hospital or police station, no questions asked, and without facing charges. The unicameral will go into special session before January to have the law rewritten.
Nebraksa also had an incident last year where a judge would not allow a convicted repeat sex offender back to prison because he was too small and couldn’t defend himself. Of course, the judge was appointed by Bill Clinton. Even though it’s pretty red up here, morons like Bill Clinton, Senator Ben Nelson, and Senator Chuck Hagel have done enough to leave black marks on this state.

Hi LAWizard..........

…….Thanks for your input.

Snarky response first……..You’ve caused a complete change in me and gave me hope.

I’ll forget everything going on, kick back to watch American Idol, Dancing With The Stars and rent every DVD I’ve never seen before.

Now for the serious………I will defend to my death your right to your opinions and the freedom to state them in public and private.

Here’s a thought LAWizard and I’m extremely serious about this: I’d suggest you take a long look through our Declaration Of Independence, The Constitution and The Bill Of Rights.

Try to fathom the depth of what those documents mean and from where they originated.

If you’re a person of solid belief in the human spirit, I’m convinced you’ll truly understand.

If you’re otherwise, I truly have empathy for you, as you know not what is on the horizon for everyone’s freedom.

Cheers !

Of course you can have my guns……. Bullets first.
I didn’t say rounds, shells or magazines……
I said bullets first.
