The heck is that supposed to mean. Have your problems with Huckabee or whoever you want, but don't start doing stupid insults like that. That is something the liberals specialize in doing.

You wanna mock him, do it in a manner befitting someone of Redstate, not Huffpo.

NOT TRUE...

Yes the savages killed a man and walked over his dead body WE can thank heaven that the miscarrying woman was a false story!

I would also note that while this ignorance of death that SEEMS somehow a new breakdown of civilization it even happened in 1964. I remembered this story because HUMANS have been uncivilized since the beginning of time BUT with 24 hour news it always seems as if it is somehow happening to US for the first time...

Kitty Genovese

I read this story back in my youth and was struck by the inhumanity to man and the book I read next was the Manson murders which made me realize that you are never quite as safe as you think you are and you are responsible for you own safety....and I thank the 2nd amendment for allowing me to provide for mine and my families safety!

with regards to our conversations on this SAD matter however we are addressing ROOT causes as we discuss this awful event. You might understand if you never get to the ROOT causes you cannot figure a solution to them and they just get worse.

I am sorry you have lost a son but I do not think you should berate us for our words on this matter....perhaps with your sorrow on this story dredging up emotional issue's for you it might be better served foryou to do a diary on the damage done by people to other people and the ROOT causes of those actions and get it out of your bloodstream....just a suggestion!

We can than address all of that on your diary!

and the lots were full. Cars were improving parking spaces. The traffic was madness.

We ventured to a pretty big shopping complex on the side of a mountain, about ten minutes away, and the lots were bigger thus there was adequate parking. We manged to get an office chair on sale and get home alive.

Still, we're told that people were looking at things rather than shopping.

As for the instances of brutality, they are examples of inhumanity and the malcreants should be considered accordingly. And the stores which pull such stunts.

HOW DARE YOU ALL WHO POLITICIZE THIS !

Did any of you stop for even a second to think the people killed have families ?

There was an unborn baby among those who's lives were ended by sheer stupidity.

What if that was one of your friends or relatives today on either end of the spectrum?

What does a person say to their kid ? "Here Johnny, Merry Christmas, it's an X-Box. By the way, I had to stomp on at least two people including a pregnant woman to make sure you got this gift, so enjoy it !"

This is not anything left or right. This is not anything Democrat or Republican. This is not anything to be legislated by a nanny state.

We are all human beings and need to take a step back for a brief moment.

This nothing more than single-minded greed on steroids, pure and simple. The "I'm gonna get mine and screw the other person"-ism goes way beyond political points.

If any groups are faulted here, it's parents for not instilling right and wrong in their families, along with the retailers themselves and the media for whipping up people into a materialistic frenzy.

Yes this has gone on for years, but enough is enough.

On some levels, the people who committed murder today (2 dead in New York and 2 dead in California) are no better than the terrorists who are running rampant in Mumbai. They did what they did because it's how they are. Greed and evil go hand in hand.

Do I have a solution? No.

But I do have one question to everyone going shopping at 4am/5am: "Why are you really there ?"

If it had been your own father who 'd been killed in that stampede - would it really matter to you if the homes in the area were mansions or shacks?

If it had been your baby that was lost - would it really matter to you if democrats or republicans were running the town??

If it had been your family that was grieving right this minute - would you really care what ANYONE was shopping for ???????

People DIED today.... shouldn't it mean more than just another event that proves a point you've been trying to make?

How can you people politicize this? HUMAN BEINGS are gone, and there are loved ones who are grief stricken right now because of a bunch of animals who couldnt bother to stop for a minute and help someone get up, and you're sitting at your computers detached and analytical - blaming stores, blaming politcians, the economyand hoarding, unrestricted abortion, and realizing there will be other SALES?????? Don't you FEEL anything??? Where is your OWN compassion????

it's disgusting!!!
I do hope those who are grieving and their families and loved ones will somehow know that they are in my thoughts, and prayers. Having lost a son - I greatly understand the loss that mother is going through - and will go through - and my heart aches for her. But what I know for my part- i will be even more aware of what is going on around me - and will never make any THING or EVENT more imporant than any human life.

Ether Hispanic gangs going after each other or Black on Brown gang types. Sadly the LA media won't tell all the facts on this story, including the gang affiliation if there is one.

Gonna upset the the old folks out in Palm Springs with this stuff though.

The original Cabbage Patch Kids were probably the most emotionally exploitative product ever sold in America, and there was and is a very good reason to dislike them on that basis alone. For a while there were actually a lot of people who really believed they had "adopted" a "baby" and treated the dolls as though they had.

In fact, they treated the dolls better than they would have treated an actual adopted child.

Nothing is as surreal as the way people actually behave.

It's due to the devaluing of life that continues in our Country.

Notice in the news article how most people just ran right past the injured without stopping to help.

It reminds me of the time when a woman was dying in a convenience store and people just stepped over her to go on about their business. One even stopped to take a picture with her cell phone, but didn't try to assist her. I wrote about it here.

Look for things like this to get worse as unrestricted abortion on demand becomes acceptable, along with a wider acceptance of ESCR and euthanasia.

is a mob of women at six am in a frenzy to get whatever it was that the brats demanded. There was some stupid something or other that we were going to jail for child abuse over unless it was procured at the KayBee Toys store at 6 AM on Black Friday. SWMBO insisted, no demanded, well, really ordered that I was to accompany her. Sorry, my nerves were completely shattered by the experience and I've never been able to go near a toy store since.

That's another example. I was thinking also of the Cabbage Patch Kids frenzy but you managed to find the video clip.

I knew people who would have killed for one of those things when they were hot. There was no eBay, so people just sold them amongst themselves the old fashioned way -- immediate neighbor extorting immediate neighbor. There was briefly an entire "alternate universe" social hierarchy in the town I lived in that revolved around whose children had which Cabbage Patch Kids, how soon.

The Internet didn't exist at the time the of the original Cabbage Patch Kids riots and when the subsquent intra- and inter-community wars were being waged. But it was brutal -- BRUTAL, I tell you.

There were also a lot of casualties that resulted from the original Battlestar Galactica and Star Wars toys and those skirmishes are similarly lost to history, even though the battles were real...very real, my friend. ;)

That’s another example. I was thinking also of the Cabbage Patch Kids frenzy but you managed to find the video clip.

I knew people who would have killed for one of those things when they were hot. There was no eBay, so people just sold them amongst themselves the old fashioned way — immediate neighbor extorting immediate neighbor. There was briefly an entire “alternate universe” social hierarchy in the town I lived in that revolved around whose children had which Cabbage Patch Kids, how soon.

what has it been called the lst 15 years or so as it has been this way for some time....there is no hoarding and there is no recession! OBTW a 388 dollar tv at Walmart is not going to help you when electricity shuts down during the hoarding phase of a recession or depression....hoarding comes in the form of food!

Valley Stream is the home to a lot of celebrities and media personalities who live on Long Island. It almost qualifies as an "enclave."

Leslie Moonves of CBS lives there, for instance. It must be very awkward for them to have such a terrible thing happen right around the corner from their multimillion dollar houses.

and I didn't lose anything there to cause me to want to go back! I must say that it was less disgusting in '89 than it was when I used to go there frequently in the '70s.

I was in your neighborhood in '04, and frankly don't know how anyone stands to live in Boston or the old seaport towns down towards Bridgeport, CT. A couple of members of my staff and I took a weeklong seminar on collective bargaining put on by Hahvud/MIT (waste of money but the certificate looks good on your resume). We had a new ferry being christened at Direcktor Shipyard in Bridgeport, CT, so we took the train down there. All we saw was rust, rot, and ruin on and alongside the old New Haven mainline. The catenary was late-19th, early 20th Century lattice work steel and even some earlier cast iron work. There isn't enough money in the World to replace all that stuff as it wears out, not to speak of replacing all the cut stone tunnel portals, retaining walls, etc. The trip was just one long view of abandoned factories, rusting plant, and working class housing in disrepair. And to top it off, the train just stopped in the middle of nowhere on the way back so we got to sit there until they could run another engine out and bring us in. Apparently, they have some rule that they can't serve food or drinks when the train is stopped, so we got to sit there for two hours with no food and more importantly, no drinks to ease the pain. Go West young man! (or South)
