111th Congress HJ Res. 5 Introduced To Repeal The 22nd Amendment.

Thank you Representative Jose Serrano (D-NY 16).  You have easily enforced my deep-seeded faith in the sole thing Democrats stand for….. absolute power in perpetuity.

With the nationwide redistricting that’s going to happen with the 2010 Census, the no-doubt collective waste of breathable air that is the current makeup of the Congress and of course, The One making sure he gets to nominate at least one Supreme Court Justice……………….May I present to you, the formation of a new species……… Barakus Husseinica Abominationicum Dictatorius Permanente.

I thought the Democrats would wait until they got a 2/3rds majority in both Houses before starting to propose Constitutional amendments to perpetuate their power.

How does this give Obama permanent power?

Do you plan on losing Presidential elections for the rest of Obama’s lifetime? You don’t think after at most two terms, the country will have had enough with him?

They still have “elections”!

Term limits are a pet-peeve of mine, I’ve got some libertarian tendencies and telling us who we can and can’t nominate just because of how many times we’ve nominated them before seems incredibly stupid. If the public wants someone for three terms, why the hell shouldn’t they have them for three terms? Presidents are usually either hated (Bush 43, Carter, Nixon, Truman, Johnson), or loved (Clinton, Reagan, Eisenhower) at the end of their political careers, and I don’t see why if the public wants them back for four more years they shouldn’t be able to have them. Most arguments for term limits tend to involve the “people are idiots” argument, which, while true (see our current government), is not really to my mind an adequate reason for making it illegal for certain people to run for office.

I'm surprised you call this a libertarian tendency

Neil Stevens Wednesday, January 14th at 11:39AM EST (link)

In my experience libertarianism runs directly counter to raw democracy. Because I mean, if the people want to vote for a psychopathic dictator, gosh darn it, that’s their right! :-)

Heck, the whole Constitution is drawn up under the “people can’t be trusted” argument!

Libertarianism Runs With Constitutional Democracy

baseketball Wednesday, January 14th at 11:50AM EST (link)

“If the people want to vote for a psychopathic dictator, gosh darn it, that’s their right!”

Well, yeah. It is. If the public first gets rid of all that constitutional stuff preventing the President from being a dictator by the approved constitutional process, then yes, they can do that.

I just noticed one thing about HJ Res 5 and it's VERY distubring.

Kenny Solomon Wednesday, January 14th at 12:09AM EST (link)

The resolution is dated January 6th.

We’re only hearing about it now because ????????

Hey congressional members of RedState. At least one of you had to be aware of this. Y’all could have said SOMETHING in the media…… at least to The Fox News Channel or posted it here.

I look at Thomas.gov at least once daily since day one of The 111th Congress and didn’t see it, or I’d have ran it up the flagpole instantly.

Which just had me going deep into the gearbox……………………

OK, I think I’ve got it now and seeing this HJ Res 5 brought it all into focus….. It’s coming a whole lot clearer……. it’s happening fast…….. and it’s scary as anything for everyone’s individual liberties and freedoms, along with the literal existence of our country as a sovereign nation and the very lives of many of it’s people.

Everything that’s been going on……. Media Bias and their not even coming close to reporting what’s really going on with the Muslims and attempts to and sometimes success in shutting down ANY and all opposition/dissent, Card Check, SCHIP, The Brady (Bunch) Laws and an Attorney General designate who will more than likely literally try to invalidate The 2nd and 6th Amendments, FOCA, ‘Patriotism’ defined as paying more tax dollars than you earn, The Fairness Doctrine, Border/Immigration ineptitude, demonizing law enforcement and the military, complete indoctrination of schoolchildren, etc……. and our side of elected officials trying to play nice in the sandbox with the very people who want to take us into abject ruin.

IT’S ALL INTERCONNECTED through the same people and they’re the ones who, in just a few days, are officially taking over the third of four branches in governance of our country.

Real problem though…… It’s the behind the scenes people who are the scariest, because we don’t really know who they are yet (of course there’s the ones in the spotlights like Soros, Hollywood, etc.). But it’s the ones you can’t see who have the biggest weapons.

Instead of one single match being struck, the entire book (or box) of matches might be set ablaze at the same time.

What’s the chance these maniacs on the left have an already prepared sweeping set of bills and under the guise of “good of the country” will go for broke and try to run them up in one go and nobody, but nobody will have the time to read any of it, let alone all of it ?

If even three “Republicans” vote with all the Democrats, our country is toast and we won’t know what happened until after the fact.

Also, remember that The One can simply issue executive orders thinking he can just do whatever he wants because he is who he thinks he is.

I’m gonna make dang sure my you-know-what’s are cleaned, locked, loaded and at fast access.

Political Gamble

scarlos Wednesday, January 14th at 1:42AM EST (link)

I have to ask, did Mr. Serrano think this bill through? I mean it’s not like it help his cause to introduce such a bill THIS early.

FDR won his 3rd term only because Hitler was rampaging through Europe and Willike (the GOP nominee) made it a key focus of his campaign and it had serious traction with voters, as even though it wasn’t official, it was deeply respected in the Minds of American voters.

Now, before their guy even takes office they are attempting to repeal the bill passed specifically designed so that wouldn’t happen again . . . this is going to explode in their face if people start to hear of it.

and gloriously, wonderfully, blessedly, phenomenally, perfectly pleasing.

No Way

VanishingNYRep Wednesday, January 14th at 9:30AM EST (link)

This is not going to pass. The Dems will NEVER get the 2/3 votes in either the House or the Senate. Especially the House. They will never get 38 States to ratify it. It was passed in 1950s because most of the people were angry that FDR wouldn’t leave office and although the incorrectly adored him for “ending” the Depression, they didn’t want someone else refusing to leave. This has 0 chance of ever becoming an Amendment.

Yeah, and BHO had zero chance of being President. nt

Neither did Clinton.

mbecker908 Wednesday, January 14th at 9:54AM EST (link)

The only things that have a decent shot at making an amendment is stuff like this. Procedural, no big deal to the status quo, only about 5% of the public would have a clue about it anyway and nobody else cares. Of the 5%, half will be BO supporters hoping for at least three terms. The other half are Rs thinking “We could have run Reagan again in ‘88.” And yes, Reagan sick would be preferable to either B1 or C.

I guess he wanted a 3rd term for President Bush too

shooflyguy68 Wednesday, January 14th at 9:45AM EST (link)

This same congressman introduced this bill in 2005, after President Bush’s re-election. Maybe he saw into his crystal ball and knew Obama would be elected in 2008.

I honestly missed the 2003 submission

shooflyguy68 Wednesday, January 14th at 10:05AM EST (link)

I apologize for the omission. The point is that this has been a long term goal for this congressman for some reason and thus the fear that this is a Chavez-like move to keep Obama in power is a bit overwrought.
