MEMBER DIARY

Sworn Testimony Of Mr. Christopher Coates To The Civil Rights Commission – September 24, 2010.

The evidence is not yet ‘beyond a reasonable doubt’, or this diary would be titled: “Purposely-scheduled-for-the-day and thoroughly staged ‘celebrity’ appearance before a Congressional committee was a smokescreen for a different hearing and sworn testimony that could assist greatly in taking down the current administration.

Mr. Stephen Colbert, a television host, testified before a Congressional Committee on immigration reform, a topic Mr. Colbert holds no true qualifications for being deemed an expert witness.

The entire multiple-hours-long exercise was and still is well beyond over-publicized and included a seven-man-armed-guard escort to remove Mr. Colbert from the building.

Every bit of research done on the hearing featuring testimony by Mr. Colbert and the Congresspersons involved has left many overtly cynical people from all walks of life the surety of ‘a complete and total coincidence‘ that another Congressional hearing was occurring within the exact same time frame as Mr. Colbert’s appearance.

The other hearing however, concerned many issues involving multiple potential felonious violations of The Voting Rights Act on a national basis and was hosted by The Civil Rights Commission.  The featured witness was a gentleman named Christopher Coates.

————-

Here’s just one short excerpt of Mr. Coates’ sworn testimony in front of The Civil Rights Commission:

In the spring of 2009, Ms. King, who had by then been appointed Acting AAG for Civil Rights by the Obama Administration, called me to her office and specifically instructed me that I was not to ask any other applicants whether they would be willing to, in effect, race-neutrally enforce the VRA. Ms. King took offense that I was asking such a question of job applicants and directed me not to ask it because she does not support equal enforcement of the provisions of the VRA and had been highly critical of the filing and prosecution of the Ike Brown case.

A rather strong accusation directed towards one of The Assistant Attorney Generals Of The United States Department Of Justice, that if true, has far-reaching dire consequences on many levels.

Mr. Coates had best be able to prove his statement.  After all, that’s the cornerstone of our justice system.  The burden of proof sits with the accuser.

Mr. Coates was the second witness testifying in the matter of……. Let’s just say ‘possible violations of The Voting Rights Act and it’s enforcement’, so we don’t get all emotional and bent out of shape.

If you haven’t deduced the next bit of information already on your own, a gent named J. Christian Adams was the initial witness to testify regarding ‘possible violations of The Voting Rights Act and it’s enforcement’.

Both Mr. Coates and Mr. Adams are attorneys and were employed within The Voting Rights Section of The Department of Justice of The United States of America.

To ensure full context is at the forefront, the highlighted in blue text is a link that will take you directly to a PDF offering of Mr. Christopher Coates – Sworn testimony before The Civil Rights Commission on September 24, 2010.    The file is nineteen printed pages and slightly over 1MB in data size.

Following Mr. Coates’ prepared remarks to The Commission, there was a question and answer session – all under oath – that at times, was more revealing on all sides than the prepared text.

A website called Pajamas Media has the following two items that warrant attention:  1.  Complete video coverage of Mr. Coates’ testimony, plus the question and answer session, along with a history of what brought on today’s Civil Rights Commission hearing.  2.  A column by Mr. J. Christian Adams on Mr. Coates’ testimony and more which was written on 23 September 2010.

Mr. Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit has additional information from Mr. Coates’ testimony putting forth the uncovering of a problem with The Voting Rights Act in the US Senate election campaign office of Ms. Robin Carnahan (D).

Four other sources for this diary entry:

Mr. Ed Morrissey at Hot Air.

A column from Mr. Glenn ‘Instapundit‘ Reynolds

An article at FoxNews.com on the matter.

Mr. Josh Gerstein weighs in with a three page missive at Politico.

There now should be enough electronic documentation to get you started on what will undoubtedly be some in-depth thought, additional research on your own to ensure verification and validity of all above information and as I have been known to implore of late, your starting to look at things with a view towards The Big Picture……. No…….. Bigger.

      …….or something like that.

      Thanks, L.I.O.

I’m of the mind we’re looking at a game-changer for our nation, which is exactly why the media isn’t giving this much attention at all.

  • bk

Several of the commissioners (led by Todd Gratiano and the chief counsel for the USCCR) were clearly not happy with how they’d been getting stonewalled up to this point by the Obama team. They helped fill in the picture that Coates was painting.

Two commissioners were the exception. Abigail Thernstrom gave all her time to Michael Yaki, a complete left-wing hack whose job it was to try to catch Coates in a trap or an inconsistency. He failed, but that didn’t keep him from lying about it afterward.

For example, Yaki asked about two other cases. One was in AZ where a Minuteman (legally) wearing a holstered pistol who was some distance away from a polling station filming people coming and going. The other was some case in MS they didn’t give much detail about. Coates explained what he knew about those cases and how they had been investigated and resolved. That didn’t keep Yaki from going on Megyn Kelly’s show shortly afterward and saying (paraphrasing but close), “Coates admitted that the Bush DOJ walked away from Voting Rights Act violations against Hispanics in AZ and against blacks in MS.”

Yaki’s summary, which to save time was obviously written before the hearing, is that Coates and Adams are lying right-wing racists, coming forward now due to sour grapes because they can no longer continue the racist policies of the Bush DOJ.

I’m guessing this makes Yaki the only guy in the room who was truthful if you read WaPo, NYT, etc. today.

    • http://www.redstate.com/etcartman Kenny Solomon

Closing line from the latest article at The Washington Post via The Cleveland Plain Dealer — WaPo is a subscription service and there isn’t a chance in you-know-where I’ll sign up for that………….

Tracy Schmaler, a Justice Department spokeswoman, called the civil rights commission probe a “so-called investigation” that “is thin on facts and evidence and thick on rhetoric.”

And now, on to one Mr. Michael Yaki – Official Website.

From a short Wikpedia page on Mr. Yaki: Yaki was appointed in 1989 by Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi (D-San Francisco) to be her District Director and as a senior advisor. Yaki was also a former member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, serving from his appointment by then-mayor Willie Brown in February 1996. He ran for election and won in November 1996, and served until his election defeat in 2000.

…..and Mr. Yaki’s bio at the newspaper’s website:

Michael Yaki is the consummate 21st century political all purpose player. A former senior aide to Speaker Nancy Pelosi, past elected official (San Francisco Board of Supervisors), current appointed official (U.S. Commission on Civil Rights), past Obama aide (National Platform Director), and current lawyer / political consultant / adviser on federal, state, and local issues, he also finds time to write op-eds for the New York Times and the San Francisco Chronicle and, now, blog. He’s still not sure what a blog is, but if it enables him to download the myriad of thoughts that swirl through his multi-track mind, he’s all for it.

Whether it’s the latest initiative by Obama; the most recent outrage at the Civil Rights Commission where he is outnumbered 6-2 by conservatives; the newest gaffe at City Hall; a really cool song that triggers some deep psychopolitical insight from his undergrad days at Cal or his law school journey at Yale; or, how his childhood wanderings through the Far East influences his perception of our world, he’ll write about it. Speaking of a 21st Century all-purpose man, Michael’s bloodlines run 1/2 Chinese, 3/8 Japanese, and 1/8 Hawaiian.

The Center for American Progress Action Fund Presents:

Internet Advocacy Roundtable – Crowdsourcing Message and Policy Development — Thu, Oct 16, 2008 ;3:00 PM – 5:00 PM.

In 2006, with less money and less name recognition than his opponent for Senate, incumbent Orrin Hatch, Pete Ashdown took an innovative approach to his campaign website. Harking back to a tradition of elected representatives being delegates of their constitutents will (rather than trustees), Ashdown included a wiki on his website where voters could edit and develop his campaign platform. This collaborative process, made easy by the web, foreshadowed a growing practice of letting large groups of citizens to collaborate on developing political messages and policy platforms.

But why should we let the crowd do this? According to James Surowiecki, author of The Wisdom of Crowds, large groups of people are simply smarter than small groups and individuals, on average. For example, Elizabeth Noelle-Neumann, in The Spiral of Silence, shows that long before asking people in surveys “who they will vote for” can effectively predict an upcoming election, asking them “who they think will win” will get the prediction right.

Brian Young, Internet Director, John Kerry for Senate

Along with being a law firm partner and a sitting Commissioner on a most important Federal rights board, Mr. Yaki’s third job title at the time was “National Platform Director, Obama For America/Democratic National Committee”.

All that just a short few weeks before the election to “fundamentally transform The United States”.

    Interesting gent, this Michael Yaki.

Obama’s campaign platform chair AND a sitting Commissioner on the USCCR.

I’ve got an observation that made me chuckle, but no,,,,,,, Just the facts.

Oh, why not……… It’s not anything all that political or divisive.

At the time, Mr. Yaki was partner at a law firm, plus chair of a presidential campaign’s platform board and a sitting major Federal Agency Commissioner. Those three pay checks must have been a real kick…… But when did he sleep ?

Hey, maybe I’m a bit on the odd side when I have a problem with a sitting commissioner of the major Federal civil rights agency in our nation – at least the big one short of actual sworn law enforcement – who’s also the director of a major political party’s campaign platform and for that party’s presidential candidate.

Coates is often presented in this case as ‘from the Bush administration,’ or ‘having been promoted near the end of the Bush term.’ He was actually appointed by Bill Clinton in1996. Also Coates is a former ACLU attorney, has won civil rights awards, and was never seen as a GOP hack..The LA Times 9/24 story minimized the whole thing saying it happened in a largely African American neighborhood. So African Americans can’t be scared of 2 African American guys dressed as cops and holding a big night stick in front of a polling place?

Presenting a paragraph from and link to Mr. Yaki’s post-inauguration entry of 21 January 2009 on something The San Francisco Chronicle called “The Inaugural Journey”. *

My game began in February, when I began talking with one of my oldest friends, Dan Carol, about the state of the Obama campaign after the Hillary resurgence in February. He introduced me to Anita Dunn, one of DC’s sharpest political consultants, who then joined the Obama campaign as a senior advisor, then hired Dan, and then Dan roped me in. Together we began debating how we would manage a Platform process without a presumptive nominee. So over the weeks, as we continued to grind out primaries and super delegates and the nomination became inevitable, we began fleshing this out with other senior advisors like Heather Higginbottom, Jeff Berman, and Karen Kornbluh — people who were in the inner circle since the very beginning.

    —————–

Will dig more. This is barely touching anything.

Have to go back further to find out who Mr. Yaki was bossing around and how he really got there.

    • http://www.redstate.com/etcartman Kenny Solomon

Politico, July 8, 2008 – Mr. Ben Smith published the following column:

The DNC just announced that “Governor [Janet] Napolitano will chair the Platform Drafting Committee. Michael Yaki will serve as National Platform Director and Karen Kornbluh will be the Principal Author of the Platform.”

      ———-

The following two paragraphs are from the DNC Press Release:

      ———-

Also named as members to serve on the Platform Drafting Committee are: U.S. Representative Tammy Baldwin; State Representative Dan Blue of North Carolina; Maryland Lt. Governor Anthony Brown; Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman; U.S. Representative Rosa DeLauro; DNC Secretary Alice Germond; Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm; Donna Harris-Aiken, a National Education Association Policy Advisor; Platform Policy Advisor Heather Higginbottom; Platform Policy Advisor Chris Jennings; Florida Tallahassee Commissioner Alan Katz; AFL-CIO Policy Director Thea Lee; UFCW Local 1428 President Connie Leyva; U.S. Representative Patrick Murphy; Speaker Emeritus of the California State Assembly Fabian Nunez; Obama for America Foreign Policy Advisor Susan Rice; U.S. Representative Linda Sanchez; Youth Representative Giancarlo Sopa of Florida; Ron His Horse is Thunder, Chairman of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe of North Dakota.

The full Platform Committee will meet and recommend adoption of the platform August 9th in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Governor Deval Patrick of Massachusetts, former New Mexico Attorney General Patricia Madrid, and former Discovery Communications President and CEO Judith McHale serve as Chairs of the full Platform Committee.

      ============

During the summer of 2008, Mr. Yaki, a Commissioner on The United States Commission On Civil Rights, becomes the in-effect boss of the people on the presidential campaign platform committee – a panel that includes elected officials from major national, state and local positions, federal agency heads, union leaders and his chairs for the committee include a racist radical state governor.

How’d Mr. Yaki get there ?
