U.S. President Barack Obama signed a waiver last week that allowed him to transfer funds to the Palestinian Authority, while relaxing some of reporting requirements.

That was four days ago – October 7th 2010.

But hey…… It’s not like The Obama Administration simply up ‘n gave $1 Billion to Hamas via a pseudo-’aid’ grant to The Palestinian Authority.

It was only $900 Million…… on March 2nd 2009.

United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Monday pledged $900 million in aid to the Fatah-led Palestinian Authority, including $300 million for rebuilding Hamas-controlled Gaza.

The sentence just read to you is an incarceration term of twelve months, including time served, an insignificant fine that will more than likely be paid with money from your superiors in The PA [read that as Hamas] – who got the money from this source – and in two month’s time from today, you’re free to go and return to a life of pursuing peace.

Egypt takes new steps to control media prior to elections.

In the latest measure, the telecommunications regulator is canceling the permits of private companies providing live broadcast services in Egypt, requiring them to get new licenses from state television, several of the companies said on Wednesday.

There is widespread discontent over increasing poverty and rising food prices. Vocal opposition figures have emerged and inspired young activists to call for democratic reforms. Resistance to the idea that Hosni Mubarak could pass the presidency to his son is also growing.

Nader Gohar, the owner of one of the affected companies, said the steps to acquire new licenses are unclear and are buried in red tape and crippling requirements. Violators could face jail time.

An Arab boy from Jerusalem who ran at a Jewish man’s car to throw a stone at the windshield and was hit now claims he does not remember the incident. Earlier, he had made detailed accusations regarding the incident in an interview with Ynet.

However, in a more recent interview with the pan-Arab daily Al-Sharq il-Awsat, the boy, 12-year-old Omran Mansour, said, “I only remember seeing the car coming to run me over, and I don’t remember anything else… I don’t know what happened, I don’t remember.”

Israel Invites Chilean Miners To Visit For Christian Holidays.

The Tourism Ministry has invited the 33 Chilean miners, who survived underground for 68 days, to visit Israel for the Christian holidays and give thanks for their rescue.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has arrived in Teheran for talks with Iranian leaders expected to focus on efforts to boost cooperation between the allies’ oil, gas and petrochemical industries.

Israel Demands ‘Real Reform’ of UN Human Rights Council.

Israel is demanding the United Nations implement “real reform” of its Geneva-based Human Rights Council, which singles out Israel in its permanent agenda.

The demand came in context of a mandated review by the Council, which is required to report to the U.N. General Assembly on its “work and functioning” at the end of its first five years of operation.

The Knesset approved in the first reading Wednesday an Israeli version of the “Foreign Agent Registration Act” that requires non-governmental organizations to declare any money that they receive from foreign state entities.

Ultra-leftist groups are very concerned by the bill, which would hamper the ability of groups supported by the European Union to operate freely without disclosing whom they are beholden to.

The proposed law is based on the US’s Foreign Agent Registration Act that was passed in 1938 to hamper the ability of Nazi Germany to use American groups in order to further its aims within the US.

Doesn’t go far enough, but it’s a start.

IDF to train officers to reduce civilian casualties.

Having endured almost two years of heavy international criticism regarding civilian casualties during the Operation Cast Lead assault on Hamas in the Gaza Strip, the IDF is set to hold its first-ever training course for a new military job that will be incorporated into combat brigades and battalions to try to reduce such casualties. The designated purpose of the new post: to help Israel minimize harm to civilians during future operations in Lebanon, Syria and the Gaza Strip.

Titled “population coordination officer,” the post will be mostly held by reservists with the rank of captain or major. The first course is to begin early December, and the officers will be trained to help prepare battalion and brigade commanders for operations within urban settings.

This is going to get many IDF personnel killed…… or worse, taken prisoner.

The New York Times reports that the PA is increasingly considering abandoning negotiations with Israel and seeking international recognition of a PLO state instead.

“If we cannot stop the settlements through the peace process,” Ashrawi said, “we have to go to the Security Council, the Human Rights Council and every international legal body.”

“We don’t have strong cards,” Amireh told Bronner from his Ramallah office, “but we want to convince the world to take a position and gain recognition of a Palestinian state.”

“The United States is pleading with the Palestinians not to give up hope,” the Times article reports, implying that Israel is the impediment to a successful negotiated solution.

Minister Rivlin, I understand your need to be this way, but you’re being way to diplomatic and kind.

Jimmy Carter is blatantly anti-semitic and needs to be called on it, in person, in public, right to his face and often.

I’m guessing if he didn’t have such a high profile and a Secret Service detail, he’d have been on the various flotillas.
