Oy vey…… Click it:  ……and just like The Greaseman, he apologized…..

The rest is just a mess now.

In the immortal words of the late great NBC news and editorial commentator Ms. Emily Litella…… “Never Mind”.

Can you say “Publicity Stunt” ?

Article at NBC Dallas/Ft. Worth: Mr. Olbermann is back on the air beginning Tuesday 9 November 2010.

CNN Article, Click Here.

Hey, you don’t think this might have possibly been some sort of attempt at a distraction from someone’s trip overseas with 3,000 of his closest friends plus a bunch of warships, could it ?…… Not even a simple “nudge” to such a cross-populated-with-agenda-agreeing-members ‘objective’ media outlet would get that kind of ‘distraction’ done, right ?

Didn’t think so.

AP Report………

NEW YORK, N.Y. – MSNBC has suspended prime-time host Keith Olbermann indefinitely without pay for making political contributions.

Politico reported Friday that Olbermann contributed to the campaigns of three Democratic candidates this fall, including one on the same day he appeared on Olbermann’s “Countdown” program.

Olbermann is MSNBC’s highest-rated personality and the linchpin of its move to a prime time show of liberal viewpoints. He was one of the network’s anchors for election day coverage this week.  Olbermann was not immediately available for comment.

Politico article by Simmi Aujla:

MSNBC President Phil Griffin said in a statement Friday: “I became aware of Keith’s political contributions late last night. Mindful of NBC News policy and standards, I have suspended him indefinitely without pay.”

Olbermann made campaign contributions to two Arizona members of Congress and failed Kentucky Senate candidate Jack Conway ahead of Tuesday’s election.

Olbermann, who acknowledged the contributions in a statement to POLITICO, made the maximum legal donations of $2,400 apiece to Conway and to Arizona Reps. Raul Grijalva and Gabrielle Giffords. He donated to the Arizona pair on Oct. 28 — the same day that Grijalva appeared as a guest on Olbermann’s “Countdown” show.

Mr. Olbermann should have stuck with sports.  He was good at it.  One of the best too.  A top-of-the-line snarkers snarker who ever snarked a snark.

Then he took himself seriously.

http://minx.cc/?post=307921 for Drew’s thoughts and comments thereon.

In short, like Drew, I wonder why the “fig leaf” of “But Olbermann contributed to campaigns!” was used – his whole show had been an in-kind (rather than in-cash) donation to the Dems pretty much since inception.

Group most affected? Probably the Daily Caller, who have now lost one of their more reliable punching bags. (their article here: http://dailycaller.com/2010/11/05/msnbc-suspends-olbermann-without-pay-over-donations-to-democrats/)

MSNBC’s election night coverage was both outrageous and laughable I don’t imagine Olbermann will be alone looking for other career opportunities. Look for other fig leaves to turn up on other folks, notably Matthews and Maddow.

(CNN) – Keith Olbermann, MSNBC’s primetime firebrand host, has been suspended indefinitely for violating the ethics policies of his employer earlier this year when he donated to three Democrats seeking federal office, MSNBC announced Friday.

CNN labels him firebrand, not liberal, left wing, whacko, etc…..I doubt any other lame stream media outlet will label him correctly either.

Except that he was too stoopid to figger out how to mail the bombs. And then one went off by accident and blew away his sense of humor.

. . . that, unlike NPR, MSNBC seems to be equitable in their meting out of punishment according to their own rules.

I’m not necessarily in favor of that rule–it’s not as if it would have given that foaming-at-the-mouth socialist any veneer of objectivity.

Are the bosses at MSNBC sensing a sea change in what America wants in the future?

Notice the requirement to disclose was an internal company policy, something easily ignored by management. It seems to me they wanted him gone and thus took action.

However, given his temper tantrum reputation, it may have nothing to do with the network moving a bit towards the center but rather get rid of him before he explodes. Stories were that nobody could talk to him, only slip notes through his door.

Gosh there are so many lefties soon to be out of work. So, many applicants to sort through. Thoughts?.

Really, Barney Frank would’ve been their big star, if he would’ve had the courtesy to lose.

I think Dolberman could correctly claim that no one heard of much less adhered to any policies or standards at MSNBC.

and I hope this suspension turns into a firing, but someone help me out here.

I read the short articles provided and do not understand why he was suspended. I could care less if they suspended him for combing his hair wrong as it benefits all who watch TV, but on what grounds does MSNBC support this action?

Is it a policy at MSNBC for their staff to not support either side, was it because he supported the ones he then brought on his show, did he lie about the donations, etc? We all know the station supports leftist principles and liberal politicians, so not sure why they have issue with their guy giving them money. If they only wanted to be seen as impartial, they failed in that endeavor a long time ago. Just do not understand how they can order their people to not support the party they like.

There has to be more to this. Is it their way of ridding themselves of the leftist image they have even though he is their top draw or is there more to this story.

If anyone can fill me in, I would appreciate it.

This kind of reminds me of how Bush dumped Rumsfeld the day after the 2006 election. In a world that’s not all Democrats all the time, Olbermann is just too big of a liability.

A contriThere are a lot of options:

    1) Moe Lane guesses that it is a ratings ploy. This would be the most likely situation.
    2) Olbermann is such a tremendous jerk that even the hack fools at MSNBC have grown tired of him. This is my pick, as he is to broadcasting what Terrell Owens and Randy Moss put together are to chemistry on football teams.
    3) MSNBC has seen the handwriting on the wall, and is planning to moderate its views. Of course, that would mean firing every single person there, including the janitor. I can’t believe I just wrote this. Please disregard it.
    4) Some sort of liability situation, like sexual harassment, that NBC would rather keep under wraps.

I really feel like the fact that he got dropped from Sunday Night Football bother him more, and that actually makes me feel better than this.

I know for a fact that the dumb@ss was required to take in-service training and sign off on documents stating that he understood the rules and would abide by them under penalty of being canned without pay. He also knew that the corrupt bast@rds at GE enforced their corporate policies selectively and pro’ly considered himself part of the “protected class.”

What we have here is a sacrificial goat for MSNBC’s ratings problem and a show of good faith and due diligence to MSNBC’s future owners, Comcast.

But who knows if old GE Neutron Jack ways have been swept away. Rank and Yank is probably in force along with Sick Sigma.

      • Read Chesterton

That news somehow didn’t sink in even though its been a while since it happened.

It will take the dissolution of GE by the same horrible death that it inflicted on its victim corporations in the late 20th century before the putrid tide of Corporate Diversity Maturity Models and Sick Sigma (h/t for that one) will even begin to be rolled back. That and the fact that these corporate social engineering tools are beginning to be used against the liberal establishment, as we see here with Olberman. That is already beginning to hasten the demise of the uber-PC workplace.

This is the first and most probably the last time I’ll ever engage in the gossip column side of life.

I do this mainly for the snark factor in projected commentary, along with the high probability of sheer genius creativity from our Photoshopical members.

I shall – with some of the greatest restraint known to exist within the human race – endeavor to maintain proper decorum and report the matter solely with my recently-garnered ‘journalistic integrity’.

Welcome to the first edition of Red National State Enquirer.

    We’ve a source – a ‘well (cough…… ahem) respected’ source…….. Oops…… Proper decorum and all that.

Shortly after Olbermann?s ?shut the hell up? commentary on President Bush last month, conservative radio pounced on the implication that he was calling American troops in Iraq ?cold-blooded killers,? and Olbermann took particular note of criticism from Laura Ingraham, who said on the air, ?I believe MSNBC really needs to bring in a medical team at this point. . . . I don?t know what happened to him. I really don?t. He didn?t use to be this way.? (Olbermann dated Ingraham briefly a decade ago. ?There were a few problems,? he told me. ?There were a few things that I could see were going to be impediments. Oddly, they were not political things.?)

    No they didn’t.

    Yeah, they did.

    http://www.nbcdfw.com/entertainment/television/NATL-Countdowns-Keith-Olbermann-to-Be-Reinstated-Tuesday-106875593.html

“After several days of deliberation and discussion, I have determined that suspending Keith through and including Monday night’s program is an appropriate punishment for his violation of our policy. We look forward to having him back on the air Tuesday night,” said Phil Griffin, president of MSNBC.

NEW YORK (AP) – Keith Olbermann apologized to his fans?but not NBC News?on Monday for the “unnecessary drama” surrounding his two-day suspension for making political donations.

    http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D9JC9MT80

The “Countdown” host complained that he was being punished for mistakenly violating an inconsistently applied rule that he had known nothing about. He said he learned he was being suspended from the media after being assured that form of discipline wouldn’t be taken.

When finally cornered into actually explaining himself once and for all about violating his employer’s policies, Mr. Olbermann fell to his knees, screaming and crying……… No I didn’t, honest ! I ran out of gas ! I had a flat tire ! I didn’t have enough money for cab fare ! My tux didn’t come back from the cleaners ! An old friend came in from out of town ! Someone stole my car ! There was an earthquake ! A terrible flood ! Locusts ! It wasn’t my fault! I swear to God !
