The Delta Smelt And The Administration, December 2010.

Still in the news.

Still no water.

Still playing legal games with the nation’s food supply.

Remember this ?

Judge reverses decision on California’s Delta Smelt……… So where’s the bleedin’ water ?

If you’ve not seen any of this before, here’s the bottom line on the above link:  The destruction machine known as the current administration through The Office Of Information And Regulatory Policy (headed by Cass Sunstein), shut off 85-90% of the water to California’s San Joaquin Valley farms and ranches in the name of ‘protecting’ a useless 3-inch fish called The Delta Smelt.

Basically, the shut-off had and has nothing to do with the fish and was done on purpose to destroy the economy of the world’s most fertile growing area, taking our nation down a notch, making us even more dependent on foreign sources for food – and the administration was quite successful in creating a dust bowl region with over a 20% unemployment rate.

The matter was made obviously political and agenda-driven when during the past eighteen months, there were in-the-open threats that if the water was to be turned back on even a little bit, current CongressCritters™ from the area and others in California must vote 100% with the administration’s agenda.

Now – two days ago – long after the damage has been done – the same Federal Judge – the same gavel-banger who’s been playing games with this issue, including going along with almost everything the administration mandated to occur – the same gent issues a finding saying the Feds screwed the pooch.

www.contracostatimes.com/ci_16859594

The same federal judge who helped set in motion protests in California’s farm country when he ruled three years ago that Delta pumping limits were too lax to prevent fish from going extinct determined Tuesday the new regulations go too far the other way.

In a sharply worded, 255-page decision, U.S. District Judge Oliver Wanger, of Fresno, concluded: “The public cannot afford sloppy science and uni-directional prescriptions that ignore California’s water needs.”

He ordered regulators to rewrite significant portions of a permit for massive Delta pumps that deliver water to the Bay Area, San Joaquin Valley and Southern California. The permit sets out a host of rules that are meant to prevent Delta smelt from going extinct.

The article is courtesy of The Contra Costa Times – Mike Taugher is the author.  The good gent has been following this from the beginning.

This is not over – not by a long shot.  The water is still not back on and without question, the current bunch of Totalitarian pieces of human filth in the administration will make sure it stays that way, even if they have to write an executive order for signing by our Dictator In Training Pants™.

I was wondering whatever happened to that story.

And while they’re working on killing our “bread basket” they’re also regulating who can and cannot grow food and what type can be grown for what purpose…

Or am I mistaken that’s what the recent FDA legislation was doing? I’d link it but that was a week or two ago that came up so I don’t remember where to find it.

Take as many of the fish they can live-catch, put them in aquariums,
and turn the water back on for the farmers.
When the rains come back, re-introduce the fish back into the water.
It’s sooooo easy, and makes sense.
But making sense is NOT what this administration is about.

They say Republicans are for the rich, Democrats are for the poor.
If they need more voters,
then they have to make more of who they are for.

My wife and I recently went through here visiting our grandchildren in Nor Cal. It is utterly amazing what’s happened to this area. It looks like a dust bowl!
This type of tactic has been used by the left since the early 70′s; that is going to court to shut down various business sections of our economy. The rallying cry has been to damage our industry to damage the US. They figure even if they get overruled in court they’ve still inflicted severe harm. This is why it is vital to elect a Republican President. It’s he who makes the appointment to the federal courts.

Where does Michelle Obama think "healthy fruits & vegetables" come from

izoneguy (Diary) Thursday, December 16th at 7:22PM EDT (link)

Walmart???

Michelle, healthy fruit & veggies that you so much desire for all of America’s children are grown on farms. Farms that use be in California until your husband turned off the water. You see, those little fruits & veggies need plenty of sunshine & water to grow.

So I guess you will have to ask Barack what country we are going to be buying these fruits & veggies from that you so desire for our poor, poor little ones.

Those who had once simpered: “I don’t want to destroy the rich, I only want to seize a little of their surplus to help the poor, just a little, they’ll never miss it!” – then, later, had snapped: “The tycoons can stand being squeezed; they’ve amassed enough to last them for three generations” – then, later, had yelled: “Why should the people suffer while businessmen have reserves to last a year?” – now were screaming: “Why should we starve while some people have reserves to last a week?” – Atlas Shrugged

Do you think she really cares?

LaborUnionReport (Diary) Monday, December 20th at 12:39AM EDT (link)

If the country’s well being was something that she (and the rest of the Left) really cared about, half of what goes on in Washington wouldn’t happen.

She and her family don’t have to pay for those fruits and veggies, will always have it, and don’t care if the rest of the country is bankrupted and starving–as long as they can transform America into their vision of Utopia.

This would be the reason Babs Boxer has asked the area be designated as federally protected land, not for the PEOPLE, but for the stinking fish.

It is part of the federal land grab.

First go the Farmers

and the Nation follows.

When the family farm does well, so does the rest of its citizenry.

What I want to know, is the Delta smelt a native species or something that was introduced decades or maybe even centuries (late 1800′s) ago to deal with mosquitoes or some other pest?

Plus what better place than federally created dust bowl farmland to open the civilian core training camps that were mentioned in the health care bill. How many farms were foreclosed on and taken over?

Maybe it’s time Babs learns what a real days work is. Get down and dirty tending the land to feed her family. Wait, there’s no water available to grow the food to feed families.

The ocean needs to be watered instead of the land, trees, fields, animals and people.

But were Obama and Sunstein for it before they were against it before they were for it ?

Kenny Solomon (Diary) Saturday, December 18th at 7:26PM EDT (link)

This is getting silly.

The Obama administration said Wednesday that it supports plans to build a new aqueduct to deliver Sacramento River water to the south, marking the first time the federal government has endorsed a proposal that has simmered in California for decades. However, federal officials stopped short of endorsing a massive set of intakes and tunnels that state officials want to build.

The Food Safety Modernization Act S510

a_nonny_mouse Sunday, December 19th at 3:27AM EDT (link)

A reply to #1, Steph C Thursday, December 16th at 8:16AM EST

The Food Safety Modernization Act, S510, has been called by some the “Food Fascism act”.

The sleazy Dems had tucked it into the nearly 2000-page omnibus spending bill (which Harry Reid finally yanked Thursday because he didn’t have the votes to pass it).

But, true to form, our dear Dimmies claim they haven’t given up on it. (Do they EVER give up on the power-grab bills? nooooooo.)

The water you're drinking is full of carcinogens, say Los Leftos.

Kenny Solomon (Diary) Sunday, December 19th at 8:01PM EDT (link)

I’m sure this has absolutely nothing to do with anything else anywhere.

A US environmental group has found that drinking water in 35 American cities contains hexavalent chromium, a probable carcinogen, The Washington Post reported Sunday.

The study by the Environmental Working Group — the first nationwide analysis measuring the presence of the chemical in US water systems — is to be made public on Monday, the daily reported. The group found hexavalent chromium in the tap water of 31 out of 35 cities sampled. Of those, 25 had levels that exceeded the goal proposed in California, which has been trying aggressively to reduce the chemical in its water supply.

The federal Environmental Protection Agency is considering whether to set a limit for hexavalent chromium in tap water. The agency is reviewing the chemical after the National Institutes of Health, deemed it a “probable carcinogen” in 2008.

The 8-county average unemployment for July 2010 was 16.74%.
At the time, the national average was 9.7%.

Irony (and danger), thy name is water.

Kenny Solomon (Diary) Monday, December 20th at 4:01PM EDT (link)

Associated Press report:

A storm pounding California with record rain forced authorities in the San Joaquin Valley to call Monday for the evacuation of some 2,000 residents of the farming community of McFarland due to major flooding.

An estimated 400 to 500 homes were in danger, Kern County Fire Department spokesman Sean Collins said.

A sheriff’s helicopter crew was trying to locate the source of the flooding, which possibly was coming from ditches and canals that supply water to farms, Collins said. Two evacuation centers were set up.

I can’t bring myself to comment on this ‘twist of fate’, other than to offer my prayers and thoughts for those affected.

If the flooding is coming from ditched and canals,

gekster (Diary) Monday, December 20th at 4:20PM EDT (link)

and those supply water to the farmers,
then the reasoning in california would be to fill the ditches and canals with EPA approved dirt.

Enviro-Fascists

Juggernaut (Diary) Tuesday, December 21st at 8:04PM EDT (link)

They killed crops for so many miles you can see this area from 30,000 feet. Someone should spray paint the brown with a giant Obama campaign symbol. This issue should have been solved by spring 2009. Turn on the water, then build sump wells in the river so water collects in a confined space with screens to keep the minnow out. Pump the water from the well and tell the enviro-fascists to eff off.

I also remember reading about fertilizer levels in the water being too high but the levels weren’t as bad as the Cali scientists ranted. Hannity did a good job outing the scientists as being fear mongerers and out of touch.

Blame Obama in the 2012 elections because thanks to Obama many jobs, crops and homes were lost while CA sought to import more fruits and veggies overseas. Some decisions only take days to act but no, wait on the courts and still no water.

RomneyCare is Right Wing Socialism –

Romney “severely conservative”? That’s the opposite of a “compassionate conservative” like George W. Bush? Actually, we know what a severely conservative is. It’s Dick Cheney and Mitt Romney is no Dick Cheney.

They will never ever let go......

Kenny Solomon (Diary) Friday, December 31st at 7:45AM EDT (link)

From the venerable Mike Taugher at The Contra Costa Times:

A key annual survey performed each fall showed the Delta smelt population continues to hover at a level some biologists believe is near extinction……

http://www.contracostatimes.com/top-stories/ci_16976494

And while new environmental restrictions on pumping water out of the Delta have had only minor to moderate effects on pumping rates to date — despite the loud claims from politicians and national media figures to the contrary — the new restrictions could have a more substantial effect if 2011 becomes a wet year.

There’s a $12 Billion plan in the works to re-direct water via a new tunnel system…… Gee, I wonder how lovingly the enviro-loons will embrace that…… Plus…… Take a wild guess who’s gonna pay for the project.

At what point does this entire mass of insanity blow up in a firestorm with pitchforks and torches ?
