Israel Survival Updates — 21 February 2011 — Hizbullah In Iran — Libya Is On Fire — John McCain Promises Aid To Tunisia.

Things are happening fast and furious.

Scroll through it all.

Updates added in the comments section.

=== === === === ===

Presenting the initial entries of today’s totally isolated and unconnected news.

— — — — —

Iran.

Hizbullah Army Help Iran Suppress Massive Rallies.
More than 1,000 Hizbullah terrorist army fighters have joined a huge Iranian police deployment to crush wide-scale protests that have left at least two people dead and hundreds injured or arrested.

The Islamic Republic regime in Iran has apparently decided to deploy an overwhelming army of police, Revolutionary Guards and Hizbullah members to squash the rallies. The government seeks to prevent the kind of momentum that toppled rulers of Tunisia and Egypt, and threaten kings and dictators in Libya, Yemen, Bahrain and other Muslim countries.

Foreign journalists have been barred from reporting on the Iranian demonstrations, and authorities have revoked work permits for 11 foreign journalists, photographers and cameramen for covering protests last week.

Nothing to see here !

There is no coordination anywhere in the Muslim world through The Muslim Brotherhood.

These are not the peace lovers you are looking for.

Move along.

=== === === === ===

Norway.

Norge :  Ond Jøder:  Komm seg ut.  Flytt det ambassade.  Du har en år…… Og tar de skittene Amerikanerne med deg.

The Israeli Embassy in Oslo, Norway was officially notified a few days ago that it must move to another location within a year, the Yedioth Ahronoth daily reported Monday.

According to the Norwegians, the embassy poses a security threat to its surroundings and has had a negative impact on the residents’ quality of life.

Michael Eligal, Israel’s ambassador to Oslo, sent the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem a cable saying embassy staffers were having a hard time finding an alternate site. “Our search has been frustrating, to say the least,” the envoy wrote. “No one wants to sell us property.”  A Foreign Ministry official said the affair is indicative of a new low in Israel-Norway relations. “The authorities in Norway are capitulating to public opinion that is hostile to Israel,” he said. “They are doing everything they can to make things more difficult on the embassy.”

The City of Oslo has also forced the American Embassy to relocate to a suburb.

……and just in case you don’t remember, or haven’t heard this before:

Norway upgrades official Palestinian status.

The boost from ‘general delegation’ to ‘diplomatic mission’ is in recognition of The Palestinian Authority’s efforts to establish independent state.

The United States and Israel should immediately offer the following to The City Of Oslo and The Norwegian Government overall:  Oppmerksomhet Norge : Dra spytt opp et tau.  Du er alene, Dhimmis.

=== === === === ===

Israel.

Duck and Cover !

In Israel, it’s a way of life.

‘School kids hide under desks’.

The Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee held a special session in the Negev on Sunday, with the participation of local council heads and IDF Home Front Command officials.

During the meeting the council heads complained that the government was not doing enough with regards to the fortification of educational institutions in areas that are under the constant threat of rocket fire emanating from Gaza.

Ashkelon Mayor Benny Vaknin said 10 schools and 22 kindergartens in the city were not fortified until he personally raised the necessary funds in the US. “With the help of pro-Israel Christian organizations, I provided these schools with hollowed-out concrete blocks which serve as shelters. Minister Matan Vilnai promised us the State would fortify these institutions.”

I can’t comment on this objectively in any manner, because I became unemployed back in July 2010 due to our county school board eliminating – not cutting back – eliminating the capital budget for electronic security in the schools and chopping about half of the physical on-campus security personnel.

When a nation fails to protect it’s citizens, especially it’s youth, something is terribly wrong.

=== === === === ===

Egypt.

Hey everybody, it’s purge time courtesy of The Muslim Brotherhood.

Yippee !… Hooray !…… Celebration is in the air !……… Let’s par……………

Oh…………… Wait.

Egypt’s Brotherhood calls for purge of old guard.

(Reuters) – The Muslim Brotherhood, once banned and playing a growing role in the new Egypt, rejected a government reshuffle on Monday, calling for a purge of the old guard cabinet appointed by deposed leader Hosni Mubarak.

What could go wrong ?

Nothing, because it’s all a walk through the forest looking for the elusive rainbow-colored, candy-belching unicorn on his magic prayer rug soaring over the hopeychangey clouds of “Coexist” bumper stickers.

=== === === === ===

Gaza.

Hamas Changes Hospital Name From ‘Mubarak’ to ‘Al-Tahrir’.

Hamas is changing the name of a children’s hospital in Gaza from Mubarak Hospital, named for the former Egyptian president, to Al-Tahrir Hospital, named for the square where the Egyptian revolution began and culminated. The hospital, in Khan Yunis, was built in 1993, and then PA chief Yasser Arafat offered to name it after Mubarak in gratitude for this role in the peace process.

The name change was instituted to celebrate the “youth revolution” in Egypt, a Hamas official said, and to show that Hamas does not support Mubarak.

OK, so who’s buying this latest bit of taqyia ?

With it becoming clearer by the hour that The Muslim Brotherhood involved in everything going on, it’s a good bet that the hospital was most undoubtedly renamed for these folks:  Hizb Ut Tahrir.  A Shari’a-is-everything group that advocates anything goes to advance Islam and destroy infidels and Jews.

=== === === === ===

Libya.

It’s the oil, stupid !
(Not hardly, but it sounded good for a moment or two.)

1. (Reuters) – Oil prices charged to a fresh 2-1/2 year high on Monday as traders eyed increasing violence in major producer Libya, feeding fears about rising inflation and restraining gains in equities.

2.  BP shuts it down and readies personnel for evacuations.

Ramping up is an understatement.

=== === === === ===

Iraq.

1 Dead, 57 injured In Northern Iraq Protests.

Sulaimaniyah, Iraq  (AP) — Police and hospital officials in the northern Iraqi city of Sulaimaniyah said Monday that one person has been killed and 47 wounded during overnight protests.

A Sulaimaniyah police official said that around 2,000 people took part in scattered demonstrations around the city, 160 miles (260 kilometers) northeast of Baghdad, late Sunday. Many Kurds are frustrated with the tight grip with which the two ruling parties control the Kurdish autonomous region.

Iraq ?…… Must be Bush’s fault.   [/snark]

Drum roll please…… Will they or won’t they ?

    Egypt.

    Jerusalem Post/AP article.

Two Iranian warships close to southern Suez Canal entrance.

Canal officials say 2 naval vessels expected to start transit of strategic waterway in next 24 hours — Ships expected to pay $290,000 fee.

The two vessels are headed to Syria for a training mission.

    A training mission.

So that’s what they’re calling incitement to war now.

Wait…… $290,000 ?!? Dang, that’s a boatload of money. Get it ? Boatload…… Ships transiting…… Hey, is there a discount if they have one of those electronic thingys that lets you go through the system without stopping at a union-member-staffed toll booth ?

    Oh…… Never mind. ;)

… something tells me our fearless leader has already threatened to be mad at Israel if they do.

November 2012 can’t come fast enough. The next president will need to be very good at foreign relations to repair the damage with our best allies. – very sad to say

      • Kenny Solomon

How close does POTUS have his finger to the ‘attack Israel’ button if something does go down ?

        Yes, I’m serious.

        • Wubbies World

I genuinely believe he is looking for an excuse to do just that I am afraid, and it makes my blood boil he would be that way towards Israel.

The even more bizarre part is that he has just as much contempt for Britain as well. It makes your head spin some days.

          • Kenny Solomon

            I’ll keep saying it.

Israel probably won’t do a thing unless one or both of those Iranian ships cross into as much as one millimeter of Israeli waters, verified by multiple GPS systems.

If that happens, those ships disappear and all bets are off on what happens next.

          • Kenny Solomon

A buddy of mine at the proverbial ‘another site’ sent this on about the frigate:

“Experts” presumed the Iranian frigate to be a Mowj class frigate. It appears now to be the Alvand class.

The Alvand is a bit smaller but appears to have similar capabilities (including the C-802 missiles) but the big difference I see is age. The oldest Mowj class is only four years old and therefore, quite valuable in many ways. The Alvand was commissioned 40 years ago in 1971, during the Shah’s time.

It would be much more…… disposable.

There were apparently only four of those ships built by The UK for Iran and only three are remaining – one being sent to Davey Jones’ Locker by our Navy (Hoo Yah !) in 1988.

Like I said, take this news as you will.

            I’m thinking ‘not good’.

    Morocco.

    Associated Press article.

Morocco: 5 found dead during pro democracy protests.

Rabat, Morocco ? Moroccan Interior Minister Taeib Cherqaoui said Monday that five charred bodies were found in a bank set aflame by troublemakers on the sidelines of one of many nationwide protests pushing for more democracy in the kingdom.

The interior minister told reporters that at least 128 people were injured ? mostly security forces ? in unrest linked to protests a day earlier that drew at least 37,000 demonstrators in dozens of towns and cities

Cherqaoui said that “troublemakers” vandalized dozens of public buildings, stores and banks, including one in northeastern Al Hoceima where the five bodies were found. He said 120 people were arrested.

I bet CNN, MSNBC, The NY Times and others pick that “troublemaker” term up and run with it.

Beats the you-know-what out of calling them “youths” or “students” or “misunderstanders”, eh ?

Let’s start a betting pool on how long it takes the media to call them “typical bitter Allah-clingers”.

Better hold on to something sturdy.

U.S. offers Tunisia security aid for “model” revolution.

(Reuters) – Washington has offered Tunisia help in shoring up security following its “model” revolution, U.S. Senator John McCain said Monday.

“The revolution in Tunisia has been very successful and it has become a model for the region,” McCain, the leading Republican on the powerful Senate Armed Services Committee, told Reuters after meetings with Tunisian government officials.

“We stand ready to provide training to help Tunisia’s military to provide security,” he said.

    Uh oh.

(AP) – Standard & Poor’s cut the Bahrain government’s credit ratings Monday because of concerns that political unrest could roil the small island kingdom for some time to come.

Stock markets across the Middle East took a further hit too, reflecting investors’ wariness as anti-government uprisings continue to flare up from Libya to the Persian Gulf.

Credit rating agency S&P said it was lowering the Bahrain government’s long and short-term sovereign ratings by one notch to A-/A-2 because of what it called a reappraisal of political risks in the island nation. The firm expects demonstrations calling for political reforms to persist despite last week’s crackdown by state security forces.

On a side note, the F1 racing season is set to begin in Bahrain on Sunday 13 March 2011.

    Um…… Yeah.

The announcement canceling all festivities will more than likely be made tomorrow by F1 Chairman Bernie Ecclestone.

The Formula One season opener in Bahrain has been canceled.

The government organizers of the event did the deed.

      Bahrain cancels F1 Grand Prix.

The season-opening Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix, due to be staged on March 13, was canceled on Monday due to the deadly political unrest in the Gulf state, organizers announced.

Bahrain Crown Prince HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa said: “At the present time the country’s entire attention is focused on building a new national dialogue for Bahrain.?

F1 will open in Australia on February 27th.

A quite large and detailed report with photos and video at The London Daily Mail.

Gaddafi flees Tripoli as protesters set the Libyan parliament building alight.

Protesters appear to have taken control of second city Benghazi.

Up to 400 feared dead after dozens killed in overnight clashes.

Justice minister resigns over ‘excessive use of violence’.

David Cameron declares regime response is ‘appalling and unacceptable’.

Gaddafi’s son says: ‘We will fight to the last minute, until the last bullet’.

UN warns that British Government could be guilty of ‘complicity’ in killings.

    Read it all.

    The situation is extremely fluid.

Must have not gotten the memos that were never written, let alone issued.

    Report at Israel National News:

U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS) Mike Mullen, on a pre-planned visit to the Middle East, says he is ?stunned? by the pace of upheavals in region. He is touring Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States.

?The speed with which this has happened has really taken me aback,? Mullen said of unrest that has moved through the region. ?And I think this speed is going to continue.?

CoS Mullen, some unsolicited advice from a civilian: Take a look into something called The Mus…….. ‘The Peace-Loving Brotherhood’.

It’s a good bet you’ll encounter some rather interesting and possibly enlightening things that have a whole lot to do with that children’s game called “Connect The Dots”.

    NO !!!!
    NOT THAT MR. BURNS !!!!

How’d that photo get in here ?

    This one:

US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs William Burns arrived in Egypt on Monday to meet with members of the country’s temporary governing bodies and officials, as well as opposition figures.

Now I’m really starting to wonder about what’s going on, because this dude seems to be one of the good guys, so why is he part of The Obama administration ?

Here’s the gent’s background at WikiPedia, which is much more in-depth than The State Department’s bio page.

Undersecretary Burns was Acting Sec. State in between Codoleeza Rice and “she who will remain nameless” in place now.

This one’s for Read Chesterton in response to a comment here.

    Article at Israel National News:

    Inquiries Into Leftist Funding Postponed.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu decided Monday morning to give members of his faction freedom to vote as they see fit on the establishment of committees of inquiry into the funding of far-left organizations. Following Netanyahu’s decision, Israel is Our Home, the Knesset faction headed by Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman, asked Coalition Whip MK Ze’ev Elkin to postpone the vote on establishing such a committee – a vote that was scheduled for next week.

Liberman called Elkin on the phone from Brussels, where he is currently attending a meeting of European foreign ministers, to request the postponement. MK Faina Kirshenbaum of Israel is Our Home was supposed to head the committee of inquiry into funding of radical leftist groups by foreign governments.

I’ve a sneaking suspicion that the postponement was given a ‘nudge’ by the not-so-invisible hand of J-Street and the rest of the self-hating Jews here in America.

    • Read Chesterton

I started out as a 12 yr old bag boy at our neighborhood deli and worked there one year into my engineering career at age 25. I was so much a part of the family that I was alternately bragged on (“Oy, like a grandson to me, he’s gonna be a bigshot engineer!) and annoyingly compared against the the overachieving cousin who actually made a successful career in Hollywood. I was the only Irish Catholic kid in my school with a Bubbi. The family honored me by sneaking me in as the tenth minyan for her Kaddish. To this day that was the greatest honor of my life next to the blessing of being with my father at his deathbed.

The point of all the above, for me, was that I, an Irish Catholic kid from Fishtown, passing for a regular Northeast Philly Jewish kid at Temple University. I was the one who would remind my otherwise oblivious Jewish classmates of whatever Yontif was coming up, and actually be enthused with the traditions, especially where there was food involved. It was usually appreciated and I made many good lifelong friends. But then there would be those “self-loathing” Jews who made crude anti-semitic jokes and ridiculed the traditions. I didn’t even know there was a name for these people…. I called them “self-loathing” because that’s how they came across… as if they we’re embarrassed to be Jewish. These guys were always too full of themselves, bloviating, insecure, and very annoying.

It’s taken me the better part of a middle-aged lifetime to figure out the syndrome within my own understanding. It’s not unique to Judaism. It’s really nothing more than old fashioned secular liberalism. It’s been rampant in Christian churches for over a century as evidenced by the likes of Obama’s pastor Reverend Wright and similar ilk referring to itself as Christian clergy, attracting a following that truly hates Christianity as it is expressed in the traditional sense. The mainstream Protestants and the dissenting Catholics who rail against all pro-Life causes fall into the mold as well. These are the people who roll their respective “faiths” together as “interfaith prayer” with less respect for Tradition, and G_d than their progressive political agendas, usually including some real bad blood towards Israel.

      Self-hating Jews, self-hating Christians, they’re all of a piece.

As I’ve mentioned elsewhere, I’m Jewish by choice. I converted as an adult, because I wanted to be Jewish (long story).

Deciding whether to use meat or dairy settings (or paper plates, my preference) before a meal creates daily reminders of identity that’s a pain (to be honest) but enriching. I used to be a pretty devout Presbyterian, until I changed paths (long story), and I prefer where I am now, as far as religion goes.

This is why I don’t understand why a Jew would hate his Jewishness. Maybe it’s because no one has held my religion against me (yet, at least). Anyway, David Mamet wrote a book about it that’s on my read-eventually list. Until then, I suppose I’ll just have to wonder.

Forget the inquiries, the Knesset passed a law,

It’s all so inclusive…… The left and the right now have to declare every shekel they get from all sources.

The Knesset passed a bill Monday stipulating that both left and right-wing organizations will have to report each quarter on any funding they receive from foreign agents.

The bill was approved just hours after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced he would allow Likud members to vote freely on bills establishing official committees to investigate foreign funding of left-wing organizations.

Looks like Israel is experiencing the fine art of the ‘nudge’ too.

    Associated Press report:

Valletta, Malta ? Two Libyan air force jets landed in Malta on Monday and their pilots asked for political asylum amid a bloody crackdown on anti-government protesters in Libya, a military source said.

The two Mirage jets landed at Malta International Airport shortly after two civilian helicopters landed carrying seven people who said they were French. A military source familiar with the situation said the passengers had left in such a hurry that only one had a passport. The source, who insisted he not be identified further, said the jet pilots ? both Libyan air force colonels ? had communicated from the air that they wanted political asylum. They had left from a base near Tripoli and had flown low over Libyan airspace to avoid detection, the source said.

    and

    Haaretz Daily (Israel).

Libyan military aircraft fired live ammunition at crowds of anti-government protesters in Tripoli, Al Jazeera television reported on Monday, quoting witnesses for its information.

“What we are witnessing today is unimaginable. Warplanes and helicopters are indiscriminately bombing one area after another. There are many, many dead.”

That’s Al-Jazeera reporting on it’s own people killing it’s own people.

You can only imagine what’s really going on.

Couple of good points, both for and against, getting into this one.

Here’s what I’m seeing….they want us to stand up for the “peace-lovers”, i.e. the Muslim Brotherhood “revolutionaries” that are supposedly “freeing” all these people.

Will Obama do it? Will he put that particular political interest higher than the anti-war interest here? And if he goes into this particular war, how much louder will the anti-war cry become for those us who want nothing to do with MB???

May God have mercy on the souls of the dead, Kenny

Remember this guy from several very recent Israel Survival Updates ?…… Egypt’s New Hitler.

That’s Yusuf al-Qaradawi. Banned from Egypt for over thirty years because the half-crazies over there realized he was a full-on gonzo 12th Imam stormbringer and MB member.

You do realize he’s way up there in The MB, yes ?

A few hours ago, this Sheik, Cleric, Imam and all-around nice guy al-Qaradawi issued an order from his command post in Egypt:

      Kill Gaddafi.

Influential Muslim cleric Yusuf al-Qaradawi has issued a fatwa that any Libyan soldier who can shoot dead embattled leader Muammar Gaddafi should do so ‘to rid Libya of him.’

‘Whoever in the Libyan army is able to shoot a bullet at Mr Gaddafi should do so,’ Qaradawi, an Egyptian-born cleric who is usually based in Qatar, told Al-Jazeera television.

This ‘man of God’ has ordered another man murdered, because in the view of the ‘man of god’, the offender is an infidel for whatever reason.

It’s becoming more and more obvious he and the rest of The MB think the ‘infidel’ Gaddafi isn’t peace-loving enough, kind of the way former Egypt president Mubarak wasn’t and like the dude in Tunisia wasn’t and like the guy in………… Gettin’ the picture yet ?

The MB is not a candy-belching rainbow-colored unicorn ridin’ a magic prayer rug on clouds of “Coexist” bumper stickers, coming to save the day for peace lovers.

They’re coming in to take over.

      — — — — —

By the way, Muammar (Bert Convy’s Evil Twin) Gaddafi is still in Libya and still in Tripoli. He was on TV to prove it too.

Here’s a ‘nice’ write-up at The UK Guardian. ‘Firing for effect’, we’ll use just their headline and sub-text:

Abu Dhabi arms fair: Tanks, guns, teargas and trade at Idex 2011.

British firms are still selling crowd control weapons despite the government having revoked 44 licences.

I really need to do this – No apologies……

Infidel, I don’t need these new toys in three weeks, I need them in three hours. My Brotherhood nation will be eternally grateful to your company in helping our offensive thrust to domination defense until you’re the last infidels standing and we will pay a handsome premium for prompt delivery now and there will be more orders in the future. Do you understand and do we have a deal ?

Silly me. It can’t happen there (or here either).

    Right ?
