Bath Salts — The New Methamphetamine.

Some say the effects of the powders are as powerful as abusing methamphetamine. Increasingly, law enforcement agents and poison control centers say the bath salts with complex chemical names are an emerging menace in several U.S. states where authorities talk of banning their sale.

Mississippi lawmakers this week began considering a proposal to ban the sale of the powders, and a similar step is being sought in Kentucky. In Louisiana, the bath salts were outlawed by an emergency order after the state’s poison center received more than 125 calls in the last three months of 2010 involving exposure to the chemicals.

The last thing I wanted to do is snark this, because Meth is about the worst of the worst destroyer of man that I’ve ever seen.  But – God forgive me – the first thing that I thought of after reading the full article was the song “Because I Got High” by Afroman.

Uh oh.

(Reuters) – Former Haitian dictator Jean-Claude “Baby Doc” Duvalier made a surprise return from exile to his Caribbean homeland on Sunday, saying he wanted to help in the rebuilding of his earthquake-battered nation.

His unexpected return comes at a time when Haiti, still the poorest state in the Western Hemisphere, is facing political uncertainty following November 28 presidential and legislative elections whose preliminary results have triggered fraud allegations and violent street protests.

A source close to Duvalier said he had returned under a diplomatic passport, but was required to inform Haiti’s Interior Ministry of his whereabouts.

“His unexpected return……”

a. The nation is out of control.

b. Cholera is running rampant.

c. So is civil unrest.

d. There’s no accounting for a few billion dollars worth of aid and direct cash sent.

There’s nothing “unexpected” about this at all and his return is not a ‘surprise’.  Not for anyone who’s been paying attention, that is.  This could never have happened without Haiti’s President Preval’s approval and some big-time international diplomatic dealings.

‘International’ meaning solely American and French.

Best to watch the foreign news services, because it’s a good bet you can expect the body count to start rising exponentially.

……and if the entire staff of Haiti’s Interior Ministry ‘mysteriously disappears’ one fine morning – like maybe tomorrow – then Baby Doc doesn’t have to inform anyone of anything.

President Obama and the administration here will either totally ignore this situation – or – what’s more likely to occur in my opinion, congratulate Baby Doc for being back, saying they’re looking forward to working with him as a ‘peace partner’.

Look, just because a senior executive of JP Morgan Chase hopped on board last week as Obama’s Chief Of Staff and is a long-time friend of his from Chicago too, doesn’t mean there’s any kind of shenanigans going on with JP Morgan Chase ordering all foreign embassy bank accounts closed throughout their company.

Of course, it’s a foreign media outlet with the story (AFP).

A top US State Department official on Thursday sought to ease diplomatic anger among UN states about the closure of embassy accounts by US banks. Permanent members of the UN Security Council, such as France and China, are among scores of countries told to find a new bank after JPMorgan Chase told diplomatic missions in Washington and New York to close their accounts by March 31.

Patrick Kennedy, an under secretary of state, met representatives from more than 150 countries at the UN headquarters to answer worries over the accounts.  He told reporters afterwards that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner were involved in efforts to persuade banks to reconsider their decision and to get other banks into the diplomatic business.  US officials have insisted though that the banks had taken a “business decision.”

Obama, a Clinton, a Kennedy, now add a Daley and of course, the ever-present Oval Office insulator, Tim Geithner.

A match made in Hades itself.

At least someone in America is aware of it though.  The following is from The Wall Street Journal dated 20 November 2010.

Some of the nation’s largest banks are exiting or scaling back their dealings with foreign embassies and missions in the U.S. because of the burden of complying with money-laundering regulations.

The moves could strain U.S. foreign relations. The State Department said that about 40 countries have been affected, 16 of which are African nations.

So from where exactly did this generate ?

In other words, who provided the “nudge” to get this whole thing started ?

Some folks who don’t exactly see eye-to-eye with folks on our side of the fence, might call this diary ongoing proof of another crazy lunatic right-winger lying about what’s going on.  Plus they’ll hem and haw that none of it is what it appears to be because the administration only has the good of the nation and her people at it’s core.

Ohio School Cafeterias — Boll Weevils In Noodles And Mold On Strawberries.

The items were served anyway.

Oh don’t worry though, the noodles were washed and the mold was scraped away.

Two articles from The Portsmouth (Ohio) Daily Times.

New Boston Schools notified parents Friday that lunches served to students on Thursday may have contained boll weevil beetles.  Staggs said the tiny bugs were inside one 5-pound bag of dried noodles used to make chicken and noodles over mashed potatoes on Thursday. The kitchen staff at first thought they were pepper flakes.

The lunches were served in all three school buildings.  Superintendent Mike Staggs said he has accepted the resignation of the district’s food services director, Phyllis G. Holsinger, and two kitchen workers have also been placed on unpaid suspension.

But wait, there’s more.

Administrators from Portsmouth City School District confirmed Tuesday that kitchen staff working at the high school found mold on frozen strawberry desserts Thursday, and decided to remove the moldy parts and serve them to students anyway.

The Portsmouth City Health Department says the food isn’t dangerous to students.

Somebody get Michelle “Food Czar” Obama on the line…… She has to be made aware that somebody violated the administration’s orders and put proper food in the bugs and mold being served to kids in a red state !

……legislation passed in the new year, granting police powers to enter homes, is set to stub out the habit, threatening five years in jail for shopkeepers selling tobacco and smokers who fail to provide customs receipts for imported cigarettes.

“When it comes to the penalties in the tobacco control act, it is, in every sense of the word, draconian,” the country’s largest selling newspaper, Kuensel, said in an editorial.

A 34-year-old French national has been charged with assault and interfering with flight personnel who confronted him about smoking in the lavatory during a flight between Nice and New York, officials said Tuesday.

A criminal complaint filed in New York says that Franck Lebrun “did knowingly and intentionally assault and intimidate a flight crew member and flight attendant of the aircraft” during a flight Saturday.

A federal air marshal on the plane intervened and “instructed Lebrun to return to his seat,” and two other air marshals confronted him later but Lebrun “continued to scream and yell expletives and then aggressively positioned himself toward one of the federal air marshals in a fighting stance.  This prompted the air marshals to handcuff and place him in the rear section of the aircraft.  Lebrun nonetheless “continued to verbally abuse individuals around him, yelling in substance ‘I’m French, f**k you!’” the document said.

Mr. Lebrun, I’m American.  Ditto right back atcha.

“Clueless big-mouthed idiot !”

Taiwan — AFP report via Breitbart.com.

The offensive squawks of a pet bird so enraged a Taiwanese man that he sued its owners — his neighbours — for inflicting emotional stress and injuries, a report said Tuesday.  Wang Han-chin, an electrician in central Taiwan, accused five neighbours of teaching their mynah, a parrot-like bird, to curse at him as revenge after he complained to the police that they were too loud, the Liberty Times reported.

Wang alleged that whenever he left home, the bird would see him off with the words “Clueless big-mouthed idiot”, causing serious distress and making him lose concentration at work so he suffered burn injuries, it said.  He pressed charges, but the neighbours denied instructing the bird to curse and prosecutors decided to drop the charges due to insufficient evidence linking the bird to his injuries, it added.

Hey, at least they didn’t teach the critter to get drunk, smoke in a bathroom and say “I’m a bird, f**k you !”

Give it a day or two and PETA plus the rest of the animal rights loons and politically correct maniacs will demand not one hair on a single rodent be harmed…… and the city will more than likely agree, exponentially upping the cost and time needed to get rid of the critters.

Alabama — “She was asleep in her bed when she was struck by a bullet….”

She was six years old.

Elmore County Sheriff Bill Franklin said the capital murder charges, which carry a possible death penalty, were filed against 18-year-old Aaron McDowell and 17-year-old Bernard Nix, both of Alexander City, and 25-year-old Stalandus Slaughter of Eclectic.

The slain child, Kenyatta Kendrick, was a first-grader at Eclectic Elementary School.

She was six years old.

Arizona — The shooter was ‘inadvertently released’ from prison last month.

Shots fired by ‘gunman’ at ‘Full-Of-Victims Zone’.

WitnessKatie Corbin, who was inside Chandler Fashion Center at the time of the shooting, told KTVK-TV that people went to the back of the Victoria’s Secret store after shots were fired. The upscale shopping center includes a Banana Republic, Coach, Nordstrom and other stores. She said the situation inside the mall was “scary.” Corbin says a SWAT team was running on the upper levels of the mall looking for the gunman.

The ‘gunman’ has thankfully been grabbed by L.E.

Idaho — Man abducted his wife and child, then killed his mother.

(AP) – An Idaho man is being held without bail after authorities say he tied up his wife, forced her into the trunk of his car, put their infant in the back seat and drove to his mother’s home, where he ate dinner with his mother and then stabbed her to death.

Michael James Lee, 24, of Meridian was arraigned Wednesday on a first-degree murder charge in the death of 46-year-old Lynn Marie Blake. He was arrested Tuesday night at his mother’s home in Eagle, about 15 miles northwest of Boise.

The last sentence of the article makes one stop and wonder a bit:

During a brief court appearance, he was ordered held without bail in the Ada County Jail, where he worked for two years before being fired in January 2010.

My guess is his neighbors will say he’s a really nice guy, led a quiet life, helped out around the block and yada yada yada……

RAINIER, Ore. – A Rainier police officer was killed Wednesday during an exchange of gunfire in Rainier, a small Oregon town along the Columbia River.

A reported disturbance at a Rainier car audio shop turned deadly this morning when the responding officer got into a struggle with a suspect, and was killed by gunshot.

The officer responded to the disturbance at 75938 Rockcrest Street in Rainier, the location for Rainier Sound Authority. The officer made contact with the suspect at the store and a struggle ensued. The officer was wounded with a gunshot and later was pronounced dead.

Police agencies from Every Columbia County law enforcement agency responded, as did officers and deputies from the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office, Longview Police Department and the Washington State Patrol.

Additional gunshots were fired and the suspect was wounded and taken into custody. The suspect was taken to a local hospital under guard and has not been arrested at this time.

Oakland Tennessee — Kinematics Research Inc.: One dead, one injured in multiple explosions.

OAKLAND, TN (WMC-TV) – One person was killed and another injured when the Kinematics Research plant in Oakland, Tennessee exploded around 2:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Oakland Police Chief Rick Jewell said one person, an employee, was trapped in the plant after the explosion. Authorities later confirmed that person was killed.  A firefighter was also injured, and transported to a local hospital.

The Left, all gun grabbers and other assorted Totalitarians are going to have a field day with these events.

Highlights:

There is established the White House Council for Community Solutions (Council) within the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) to support the social innovation and civic participation agenda of the Domestic Policy Council.

The Council shall support the nationwide “Call To Service” campaign authorized in the Serve America Act (Public Law 111 13)

The Council shall be composed of not more than 30 members from outside the Federal Government appointed by the President.  The Chair of the Board of Directors of the CNCS shall also serve on the Council.  Appointed members of the Council may include individuals with relevant experience or subject matter expertise that the President deems appropriate, as well as individuals who may serve as representatives of a variety of sectors, including, among others, State and local governments, institutions of higher education, non profit and philanthropic organizations, community groups, and businesses.

Bottom line:  The President Of The United States, a.k.a. The Community-Organizer-In-Chief, a.k.a. our Dictator In Training Pants™, has now officially solidified all community organizing under his administration’s authority.

WASHINGTON (AP) – The head of the Transportation Security Administration on Sunday acknowledged that new full-body scanners and thorough pat-downs can be invasive and uncomfortable, but he said that the need to stay a step ahead of terrorists rules out changes in airport screening procedures.

John Pistole told CNN’s ‘State of the Union’ that, despite the public uproar over new screening techniques, “we are not changing the policies” that he said were the best ways of keeping the traveling public safe. TSA screeners, he said, are “the last line of defense” in protecting air travelers.

Pistole’s comments came after President Barack Obama on Saturday said he understood people’s frustrations and had asked TSA officials whether there’s a less intrusive way to screen U.S. airline passengers.

Now I’m thinking this is absolutely deliberate – I though that pretty much right away, but on another diary, a few people, including LadyImpactOhio, really solidified my thoughts.

Just extrapolating a bit…… My opinion and thoughts.

……and this is if nobody does anything stupid, like take a swing at a TSA agent – that’ll bring about some real ‘change’.

But anyway, on a big picture view:

If the aim of the administration is to collapse the airline industry in order to either destroy it completely, or worse, nationalize it under the their Totalitarian boot…… AND…… engage another crisis too good to waste…… then they’re doing a first-class job getting there – in a hurry too.

If enough people – and it’s close already – if enough people get corked off enough, they’re gonna stop flying unless absolutely necessary. Bye-bye industry profits of any kind in the short and medium term and since they’re on the financial edge already, the industry as a whole will collapse right behind that.

But wait, there’s more…… The support industries all around – food service, fueling, building maintenance, etc. And of course, hotels, restaurants, rental car agencies and the rest involved with travel like taxis, limo services, etc.

Still more…… Tax revenue disappears to cities and states from all the losses, making them more and more dependent on the Federal government.

Another speed increase and radius tightening in the downward spiral.

Watch the administration carefully.  My gut instinct is now telling me they’re gonna try and do something to slow movement on the roads – and it won’t be just the price of gas – it’ll be constitutional on ‘freedom of movement’ grounds and the ‘nudge’ will be subtle at first, not even noticeable. Kind of like ‘where did these TSA regs come from.

Extrapolate it a bit further, and after a few more ‘nudges’, the Federally-funded interstate highway system could eventually have some ‘interesting’ aspects added at state borders.

This TSA thing has to be deliberate.

In order to promote uniformity in agencies’ policies that have implications for faith-based and other neighborhood organizations and in related guidance, and to ensure that those policies and guidance are consistent with the fundamental principles set forth in section 2 of this order, there is established an Interagency Working Group on Faith-Based and Other Neighborhood Partnerships (Working Group).

(d)  Membership of the Working Group.  The Director of the Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships and a senior official from the OMB designated by the Director of the OMB shall serve as the Co-Chairs of the Working Group.  The Co Chairs shall convene regular meetings of the Working Group, determine its agenda, and direct its work.  In addition to the Co-Chairs, the Working Group shall consist of a senior official with knowledge of policies that have implications for faith-based and other neighborhood organizations from the following agencies and offices:

(i)    the Department of State;
(ii)    the Department of Justice;

U.S. lawmakers voice concern about Afghan corruption.

Ahead of a meeting with Karzai, Sen. John McCain, the senior Republican on the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee, said he and three of his colleagues will express their concerns about rampant bribery and graft in the Afghan government.

“We are concerned about continuing corruption at all levels of government,” McCain said. “We know that without addressing this very serious issue, long-term success is jeopardized.”

McCain, who was joined at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul by Sens. Joe Lieberman, Lindsey Graham and Kirsten Gillibrand, said the tens of thousands of U.S., NATO and Afghan troops who have been fighting in Taliban strongholds in the south have made progress in recent months, but significant challenges remain.

Afghanistan’s President Hamid Karzai had a few things to say.

US dismayed at Karzai’s pull back call.

President Hamid Karzai has warned that the US military must scale back operations and reduce “intrusiveness” into Afghan life or risk fueling the Taliban insurgency.

“The Afghan people don’t like these raids, if there is any raid it has to be done by the Afghan government within the Afghan laws. This is a continuing disagreement between us.”

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, who met with Karzai this week as part of a congressional delegation, said he was “just stunned” by the president’s remarks.

He’s 12 years old.

Videos of El Ponchis attacking one enemy with a stick and cutting the throat of another have appeared online, as have photos of him posing with various weapons and standing by a dead body.

The boy works for the little-known South Pacific cartel, which has allied itself with the brutal Los Zetas – former government paramilitaries who have gone rogue – to battle the major La Familia cartel for control of southwest Mexico.

Based just outside the city of Cuernavaca, El Ponchis is said to work with a group of girls, including his sisters, who are referred to as Las Chavelas and are often responsible for disposing of the bodies.

“Hizbullah should know that resorting once again to violence in Lebanon runs completely counter to the interests of the Lebanese people, the interests of the region, and of the United States,” Clinton said. “They should also know that if the goal of violence is to stop the tribunal, it won’t work,” she added.  Clinton said “intimidation or threats” from Hizbullah should not be tolerated. “The problem in Lebanon is not the Special Tribunal for Lebanon. The problem is that some are threatening violence in order to try to stop justice,” she said in the interview.

The rising tensions in Lebanon are also affecting burgeoning US ties to Syria.

The US Secretary Of State sat for an interview with a terrorist-nation’s newspaper.

Authorities said a ship meant to take aid to Gaza reached Greece after allegedly leaving Libya with a dozen aid workers and port officials held against their will over a pay dispute.

Coast guard officials said the ship arrived at Greece’s main port of Piraeus, outside Athens, on Friday. They provided no further details.

The Road to Hope charity organizing the cargo said the Maltese-registered boat sailed toward Greece with 10 aid workers — seven Britons, two Irish and an Algerian — on board as well as several Libyan police officers and a senior port official.

The project is taking on the hot-button issue of illegal immigration, and Taylor is well aware that it would probably stir controversy and possible accusations that, with an illegal as the hero, the show glorifies people who are in this country illegally. But “in Los Angeles and in the U.S., people’s lives are built on the labor of those immigrants,” Taylor said. “Our job is to tell good stories as honestly as we possibly can. If everyone is mad at us, we’ve done our job.”

NEW YORK, N.Y. – MSNBC has suspended prime-time host Keith Olbermann indefinitely without pay for making political contributions.

Politico reported Friday that Olbermann contributed to the campaigns of three Democratic candidates this fall, including one on the same day he appeared on Olbermann’s “Countdown” program.

Olbermann is MSNBC’s highest-rated personality and the linchpin of its move to a prime time show of liberal viewpoints. He was one of the network’s anchors for election day coverage this week.  Olbermann was not immediately available for comment.

MSNBC President Phil Griffin said in a statement Friday: “I became aware of Keith’s political contributions late last night. Mindful of NBC News policy and standards, I have suspended him indefinitely without pay.”

Olbermann made campaign contributions to two Arizona members of Congress and failed Kentucky Senate candidate Jack Conway ahead of Tuesday’s election.

Olbermann, who acknowledged the contributions in a statement to POLITICO, made the maximum legal donations of $2,400 apiece to Conway and to Arizona Reps. Raul Grijalva and Gabrielle Giffords. He donated to the Arizona pair on Oct. 28 — the same day that Grijalva appeared as a guest on Olbermann’s “Countdown” show.

Mr. Olbermann should have stuck with sports.  He was good at it.  One of the best too.  A top-of-the-line snarkers snarker who ever snarked a snark.

“We can expect that some travelers returning from Haiti may become symptomatic with cholera en route to, or shortly after arrival in Florida,” the letter warns.

Port-Au-Prince, Haiti (CNN) — A cholera outbreak in Haiti continues to spread to previously unaffected areas in rural communities, killing 442 people and hospitalizing 6,742 others, the Pan American Health Organization said Wednesday.

Health authorities are concerned that the situation may worsen as Tropical Storm Tomas approaches the impoverished nation, still recovering from a devastating January earthquake that killed 250,000 people and left 1 million homeless.

Health officials set up six cholera treatment centers in Port-au-Prince, the nation’s capital. Four of the centers are fully operational, the Pan American Health Organization said. Four more are planned.  Officials hope to create 2,000 beds in the treatment centers, the health agency said.  In addition, the agency said, cholera treatment tents will be established at 14 hospitals in Port-au-Prince as soon as Tomas clears the island nation.

I’d say ‘let’s get there yesterday to help’, but we wouldn’t be allowed to show the flag.
