Et Tu, Rick Perry?

Well this is nauseating . . .

Seriously, Rick Perry?  This guy claims to be the vanguard governor of the 10th Amendment and limited government, and then his own state offers up one of the very brightest lights of the new limited government movement in Ted Cruz and what does he do?

Ugh.

Is nothing sacred anymore?

I vastly prefer Ted Cruz to Dewhurst.

That said, Dewhurst is probably better than a 1/3 of the Republicans in the national legislature.

If Dewhurst loses the senate race, he will retain his post as Lieutenant Governor, a very powerful legislative position in Texas that the Governor must be able to work with. If Perry burns his bridges with him, that could make it hard to do his job as governor, which includes setting legislative agendas in special sessions.

Also, Rick Perry’s endorsements have never been worth much, and often go to whoever he has worked with most, rather than whoever he has the closest policies to.

you praise that low class dirtbag paul and then slam a genuine conservative like perry??

      • http://masonconservative.typepad.com fairfaxchris

This isn’t about Ron Paul at all. I’m actually quite fond of Gov. Perry and really do admire much of what he has accomplished. It just seems that he’s not backing up his rhetoric here. Fed Up!, the 10th amendment, the Texas Compact . . . that’s the language of the tea party and that is the language of Ted Cruz.

Why Rick is doing this is a real question mark and, for me, a real blemish. I think we all deserve an explaination.

        • gekster

why he supports the one and not the other.
Do you know why he supports him.

  • citizenkh

I am not that impressed with Palin and her endorsement is one from someone who has HURT oil exploration & production in Alaska.

  • expanding_man

I’m a fan of Perry. He’s no Tea Party guy but he’s got a pretty good record of actual governance and accomplishment. Dewhurt is just another establishment Republican. Hopefully Cruz can win this nomination but it will be an uphill battle. We’ll see.

  • citizenkh

endorsed and worked his tail of for Perry.

    Cruz did neither.

The reason that this post is at the bottom of the barrel, has no Twitter buzz nor any recommendations or Facebook Likes is because it’s so utterly hilarious, no one even bothers to reply nor send it out into the internet. The only buzz this post will receive is on 4chan, because that’s how much of a joke it is.

I don’t care whether you’re from Texas or Peru, you legitimately have no clue about the subject you’re discussing. You’re saying that it’s nauseating for Perry to be the loyal guy that he is, and endorse Dewhurst. Mark Levin has REPEATEDLY said that Perry dislikes Dewhurst, so “don’t take it seriously”.

Rick Perry is more conservative than practically anyone who ran, certainly Ted Cruz or any other politician in the state of Texas. I will viciously oppose anyone who is trying to slander him with falsehoods.

Moderate? Be quiet and sit down. Read a damn book and get facts before you try and play with the big boys, let alone write blog post on RedState.com.

No one takes you seriously if you try and call Perry a moderate here, because virtually any conservative with half-of-a-brain knows he is one of the most conservative men in the country

    Nice try.

  • conservativerock5

Perry is not the conservative he is portrayed to be. Neither is Dewhurst. Cruz actually is.

  • Melody Warbington (rwm52)

Because Ted Cruz most certainly endorsed Perry for POTUS. I heard him do so at RSG03.

  • citizenkh

Perry was always pragmatic. I was not aware of Cruz’s endorsement of Perry for POTUS. That being said, a number of Texans who went up to Iowa got a lot of time with Dewhurst who worked his tail off for Perry there and as solid conservatives got behind Dewhurst. Were they hornswaggled? Maybe so.

Once again, I don’t have a dog in the fight and ONLY contribute to candidates who I might be able to cast a vote at the polls for. However, lots of small business owners in manufacturing are behind Dewhurst. I don’t know about internet/computer types or candlestick makers.

I have to disagree with you about Governor Perry. He is a conservative and has walked the walk for a long time. I lived in TX for 16 years and started voting for Perry many years ago in various races. Now I do agree with you that Dewhurst is a moderate Republican and not a conservative. I also agree that Ted Cruz is a good decent man and is a conservative.

  • checkmate2012

of course he had to endorse his right hand man. He’d be labeled a jerk if he didn’t!

Regarding the post, I got “streiffed” for posting a short and sweet diary the moment Ron Paul said he wasn’t going to campaign, not my habit, and this qualifies as a non-diary that should get the same treatment. I at least admited my mistake!

I do have to remind you to watch it as you tread the language boundary, but… yeah.

I read this post a few days ago, but didn’t want to comment because I couldn’t find it in myself to be respectful. You basically summed up what I wanted to say, only in a nicer manner! :)

  • constitutional

is just how I do things, sir.

  • windwaker24

Imagine what kind of chaos that would create in his adminstration. I don’t really know what the Lt. Gov. does in TX, but from listening to some my TX friends on Twitter, he has a big role in what gets through and eventually to the governor’s desk.

The old adage applies here: Don’t burn your bridges unless you have a boat.

With Dewhurst as 2nd in command, Perry has no boat. Still, I don’t even think that’s why he endorsed Dewhurst. As constitutional said above, Perry is very loyal, and will go down with someone until the end. I don’t agree that Perry hates him. Yes, they’ve had disagreements. People will not agree all of time. From what I’ve seen, they seem to genuinely like each other, but then again I live in IL and only get to see what they want us to see. :)
