There are conflicting stories here: Donald Trump says that she refused to show up to events she was contractually obligated to show up for, but her lawyer says that she didn’t turn down anything she was asked to do.
It’s hard to tell who’s right and who’s wrong in this, however I’m wondering if the California USA pageant has been looking for an excuse to get rid of her, because it certainly wouldn’t surprise me if multiple folks fueled by ideology maliciously reported bad things about her– just look at the aftermath of Prop 8, there seems to be little that those types wouldn’t stoop to.

I’m sure that there will be a lot of scrutiny - and probably a lawsuit. The likelihood is that Carrie will do well in her future life, and that the dirt will stick to Donald and the whole pagent organization.
Meanwhile the message has been transmitted loud and clear - if you oppose the liberal gestapo by thought, word, or deed, you will get a boot in your face to the cheers of the lynch mob.

Man, if I were Trump, I’d settle out of court if she decided to sue (which I don’t think she will), and for the PR it would bring, I’d consider it a bargain! Trump can’t lose here!
He might also be keeping the attention on the marriage issue peaked, while simultaneously freeing Ms. Prejean of her obligations as Ms. California 2009, allowing her to pursue all the hot irons in her white-hot fire, ready to be struck. She’s not going to squeeze any remaining usefulness out of her pageant title anyway. She would languish as just another beauty queen in a long line of beauty queens.
Now there’s a medium-well conspriacy theory I can sink my teeth into!
She’s borne of integrity. Carrie, the anti-Paris (or Perez) Hilton! She has precisely nothing to be sad or ashamed about. She’ll do just fine sans tiara.

So, it looks to me like the fix was in - they looked for some pretext (Prejean probably missed one minor event or something), and they used that to can her.
The guy who’s going to suffer for this is Trump - he’s made a lot of pseudo-conservative noise the past few years, but this happened on his watch, and I’ll personally never believe another word out of Trump’s mouth.
As for the Miss USA pageant - it’s always been the far more ’sleazy’ of the two (compared to Miss America - I mean, look at some of the other tawdry things that have come out about some of the other contestants over the last decade or so), and I’d personally like to see the whole organization and its affiliated pageants go down the tubes. Maybe we can make that happen…
This will be worth zillions to Carrie.
