Quinnipiac University has a new poll out of Ohio, Florida, and Pennsylvania: President Barack Obama hits the magic 50 percent mark against Gov. Mitt Romney among likely voters in Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania, with wide support for his plan to hike federal income taxes on upper-income voters, according to a Quinnipiac University/ CBS News/New York Times Swing State Poll released today. Romney and his supporters need to answer this, if he wants support from the Base
By: Finrod (Diary) | April 12th at 11:15 AM |
I keep seeing Romney supporters saying how we need to get behind and support Romney so we can defeat Obama in the general election. The problem I’m seeing is that pretty much it’s the only reason they’re giving, and while it’s a respectable reason, it’s not a motivating reason. Romney has spent the entire primary season burning his bridges with the Base, and it’s our | Read More »
Looking at Rasmussen’s Obama vs Republicans polling
By: Finrod (Diary) | April 14th at 01:02 PM |
Rasmussen has released the results of polling Obama vs a list of Republicans for the 2012 election. What do those numbers say? Well, nothing terribly conclusive, but it depends on how you look at them. First of all, the raw numbers, given with the R number first and Obama second: Romney: 40-45, Palin: 38-48, Huckabee: 43-43, Gingrich: 37-49, Paul: 34-42, Pawlenty: 35-45, Daniels: 32-45, Cain: | Read More »

_TeleprompT Me, Baby_

Hat tip to absentee’s blog of the same name which when combined with that bloody Swiffer commercial that has been overplaying Human League’s _Don’t You Want Me_, swished around in my brain and out came the following parody: (Parody of Human League, _Don’t You Want Me_) You were working as a Senator on Capitol Hill When I met you I picked you out, I shook | Read More »

By: Finrod (Diary) | February 18th at 05:02 PM |
Those of us that are regular readers here are aware of the perils should the Employee Free Choice Act, aka ‘card check’, be passed and made law. But it’s not just us; businesses are taking note as well. In the Feb. 7 issue of Hotel Business, there’s a front-page article titled “Fate of hotel paradigm may rest with Obama“: WASHINGTON — The labor union-supported Employee | Read More »
The disillusionment looks to begin with the inauguration
By: Finrod (Diary) | December 23rd at 01:04 AM |
After reading about the plans being made for the inauguration, I’m very glad that I will not be attending: Tough rules have been instituted for individuals wanting to attend President-elect Barack Obama’s inauguration, forcing some to rethink their plans to come to the nation’s capital on Jan. 20 for the historic oath of office of the nation’s first black president. Among other items, thermoses, coolers, | Read More »

By: Finrod (Diary) | October 20th at 11:32 AM |
Obama’s 30-minute adfest on Wednesday Oct. 29 may backfire, since it’ll be pushing back the start of the World Series Game 6 (that is, presuming it goes to Game 6)– look at the teams in the World Series: the Phillies and the Devil Rays, from Pennsylvania and Florida, respectively. Here’s hoping that baseball fans in those states take an unfriendly view to the start of | Read More »
Good News Overnight Open Thread
By: Finrod (Diary) | October 7th at 12:00 AM |
This Open Thread is for good news, no matter how trivial. Sourpusses should comment elsewhere. My contribution: I was reading stories off a Pittsburgh site about the Steelers’ win over Jacksonville, when I noticed something peculiar. At the bottom of the page it had categories for ‘Today’s Most-Read Articles’, and while four of the five were articles about the Steelers and their hard-fought win over | Read More »
