I should have added that O’Reilly’s book is a very easy read, partly because of the way it’s constructed, and partly because although it’s scholarly, it isn’t a textbook brimming with all the details. Just enough. Like You Are There. And it stresses the personalities involved more than related outside events.

As for the interesting: the Titanic hit the iceberg and Lincoln was shot on April 14th. It was the following day (the 15th) that the Titanic sunk and Lincoln died.
