Another ACLU Law Suit

I just wanted to share another ACLU suit that is going on. I am from the town and have graduated from the Great Auditorium, as have my siblings, and parents, both grandmothers, aunts and uncles, etc.   I think it is utterly ridiculous.   I would like to keep a low profile on this because I do work there.   So that is all I am going to state.

Invalid Beliefs

According to a “friend” of mine, my beliefs are not valid.  We have had a going back and forth because she is outraged, and rightly so, about a Pastor praying for Obama’s death.  I just asked where the outrage was when people were making effigies of Bush.   I shall post the correspondence below.

My first comment below.  I realize that I should have just left well enough alone, but it bothers me that it’s okay to Bash Bush and not Obama.

It is disturbing and disgusting. The way people use religion to justify hatred.. there are no words. But where was the outrage when just about everyone called for Bush’s death? Where is the outrage over what Reverend Wright has preached? I don’t understand that. It’s okay to make effigies of Bush, but not of Obama. (not that I would and I think it’s digusting to do that about anyone) It’s okay to froth at the mouth and make wild accusations at Bush call him horrible names, and wish death upon him and Cheney. But when we say Obama is too Socialist or Marxist we’re the horrible people? That we’re the people with hatred in our hearts?
Her response back
Kelly, I’m not going to entertain your nonsense.  I definitely thought you were smarter than that. It’s not the same thing.  I don’t agree with some things that are being proposed by Obama, but I’m not calling for the man’s death.  Obama has been in office less than a year.  Bush continued to fail over a span of 8 years…of course people were pissed by the end of it.  Give me a break…you make my blood boil.  You are as bad as the pastor.  Your hate is subliminal…I’m sure you feel the same way, but what you feel only comes out amongst friends and family.  I just pray that extremist make up the minority of the country, but the scary thing is that FOX News ratings have been the highest they’ve ever been.  So, it is evident you’re not alone in your sentiment.
My response
Thank you for calling my opinions nonsense.  =)  I guess what they say is true opinions are like blank everyone has one and they smell.  I definitely thought you were smarter than that. Again thank you.   I in no way agree with calling for Obama’s death.  I don’t hate the man.  I don’t hate anyone!  For Pete’s sake I thought you knew me better.  I guess not.  It’s sad I don’t know anyone who would ever wish death upon someone.  It’s abhorrent to me. I do not like Obama’s policies.  I don’t agree with them.  That simple.  I thought I had that right.  I guess not.

People started hating bush way before he was reelected.  Google it.  I don’t have to give examples it still lives on.  But I guess it’s okay because some people don’t like the direction of Bush it’s okay to hate him.   I get it.  It’s okay to hate one person if  there is a reason you see.  It’s not okay  for me to dislike someone’s policies.  I get it.

We’re not extremist and to use that sort of language is laughable.  I never blindly followed Bush or agreed with everyone he did.  All I like to point  out is the double standard amongst the liberals in this country.  It’s okay to bash Bush, Sarah Palin, their families, republicans in general.  It is NOT okay to say I disagree with this person’s policies because of this.  No no that’s being hate mongering!     It is extremely hypocritical and I am sick of it.  It disturbs me that you can’t see that.

While we do not agree on politics , I have never thought you were stupid.  I just realized we have different beliefs and experiences that cause us to view things in a different light.  It’s a beautiful thing.    I just wanted to point out that no one was outraged over the effigies of Bush and those who wished death upon him and his family.  Where it’s okay for Dave Letterman to talk about Sarah Palin’s 13 year old daughter.  But I guess it’s okay for one side and not for the other.  Thank you for that lesson.
Her response
You’re right there is a double standard.  There has never in history where a president has been so scrutinized from his first day in office or so criticized for every policy he puts forth.  NEVER IN HISTORY.  The antics in reference to health care have been abominable.  I don’t understand the violence or hysteria around it.  What happened to civilized communication????  I can’t take it anymore.  You cannot at all compare this to the hatred of Bush.  This hatred comes from somewhere deeper.  He has been called a Socialist, Marxist….compared to Hitler…do you not call this extreme. You could not go to a Bush rally with semi-automatic weapons if you opposed his policies.  The crazies are coming out of the woodwork.  What I’ve seen since Inauguration Day has been unfathomable!  I am embarrassed to be an American.  I am not proud of my country.  Like I said.  I hope what I see on the news is the exception…is the minority because I have NEVER witnessed what I’ve seen from Americans in the last few months.  You are entitled to your opinion.  I’m sure we probably share some like ideas.  But, the hate that I’ve seen makes me sick.  There is a lack of respect for Obama.  He is our president.  I think the hate comes from a place and era I’m glad I wasn’t born into.  Obama is the first black president and a lot of what is happening is because of it.  I pray for him and his family everyday.  Because, at the rate things are going, someone crazy is going to make that pastor’s prayer a reality.  Wake up Kelly.  Get out of your security blanket and notice what’s going on around you.  Something bigger than health care and stimulus money is going on now.  I hope it doesn’t spiral out of control.

For the record, it is easy to fix problems that are the size of small trenches, but he is dealing with issues the size of the Grand Canyon.  They will take a little longer than close to 300 days to fix. Your pal Bush 8 years to get us in this mess.  I’m sure it will take longer to get us out, especially with all the resistance.

I didn’t respond to this because she sent it right before I went to bed and then she sent this below this morning.
I just woke up and realized I didn’t address this point…Kelly, I don’t think you’re stupid.  I just think you aren’t aware of how other people live. You’ve been very sheltered and taken care of for such a long time, that your comfort zone clouds your judgment about things, you may not 100% understand.  It’s not your fault and not a bad thing.  It’s just you.
So from what I gather.  I have no real world experience, though I am 28.  I guess sheltered from the cruel world because I have traditional values, live in the same town I’ve always lived in, my parents are still together, I’m white, and I’m middle class.
Do you have any friends like this?

The Double Standard

Updated at the bottom.

Have you ever noticed that liberals have a double standard?  Of course you have.  Silly for asking.  I would like to share a response I made to a link someone posted on Facebook.

She commented about this link People are F(*&$(^(& crazy…A pastor of a church…I love the twisted religion…not much more to say, because anything else would probably not be PC and offensive.

The link is a story about a Pastor who has his parishioners prayer for the death of Obama.    Before I go any further I agree with my friend.  It’s disgusting and disturbing on many levels.   I do not in any way condone or agree with that Pastor.

However, where was the outrage when people were making effigies of Bush?  So my response.

But when we say Obama is too Socialist or Marxist we’re the horrible people? That we’re the people with hatred in our hearts?

So that’s that for now.  I have to go to work, but when I receive comments back about how awful I am I will update this entry for you.

P.S.  This is my first time using quotes and posting a link.  I hope they worked.  Sorry if they don’t.

Update:  My friend responded back.

I am not the most articulate person so my response back is not that great.  I hate confrontation.  Even over facebook with a friend.  Sorry for the purple.  I have no clue how that happened or how to change it.

Fed Up

I am fed up.

I am fed up with people’s opinions.  That old saying that an opinion is like a (censored) every one has one and everyone’s stinks is more true than I can ever say.  It seems that everyone wants to express their opinion and their opinion is the right way.  It is a  cacophony that is driving me nuts.  We should take the GOP in this direction.  No, this direction.  We should do this.  We should do that. He’s to blame.  She’s to blame.  They’re to blame.  Around and around in a circle never accomplishing anything.  It has got to stop.

I am fed up with no one taking any initiative.  Do not say then do something about it.  Not all of us are made to be politicians.  I went to a tea party.  I’m involved in my local Republican Club.  I try to shine the light of truth onto liberal friends.  We, as conservatives, need to never stop.   We need to get our message out there.  Get the truth out.  We need to stop the in house squabbling.  I swear adults are worse than children.

I am fed up with the words transparency, community, hope, and change, I’m sorry, I apologize, etc.  They are words that people get too caught up in.  I like action words.  I like words that MEAN something.  Obama changed the liberal party with words and a good sense of timing.  How do we invigorate the GOP?  What is our message and how do we show that ours is a message built upon a solid concrete foundation?   How do we show that Obama’s is built upon sand?  A suggestion.  Something easy and succinct.

I am fed up with the MSM.  Well, truth be told I have never liked them.  It’s just gotten worse.  How do we battle the MSM?  How do we get the facts out there?  People, unfortunately, are sheep.  They will believe whatever the news says.

I am fed up with pop culture.  I’ve never been one to like popular music, TV, or books.  That said I really freaking love LOST and Harry Potter.  With that confession off my chest, pop culture is overrun by liberals.  Liberal ideology.   You watch TV shows or movies and the message is that the conservative ideology is BAD AND EVIL.  How do we counter that?

I am fed up with “friends” making me feel like I am stupid and evil for supporting Bush and being a Republican.  I’ve gotten so irritated by them that I do not want to go to my ten year reunion.

I am fed up.  Are you?

Teach a Man to Fish

Chinese Proverb – “Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime”

Beware this is a somewhat hodgepodge of things running through my mind.

In education there is a teaching strategy called scaffolding.  Students receive assistance early on to complete tasks, then as their proficiency increases, that support is gradually removed. In this fashion the student takes on more and more responsibility for their own learning.  I like to think of this as one of the few conservative teaching strategies in education today as well as the teaching form of the above quote.

This strategy/teaching method is rarely used.  I wonder why.  Teaching methods and strategies are dealing with  character education and emotional health.  The funny thing about that is that there is no evidence that high self-esteem equals success.  By teaching our children to feel good and “values” educators ignore failures and mistakes of the children. The fundamentals of education reading, writing, and arithmetic have fallen to the wayside.  This is why so many people do not know basic math, civics, and grammar. I would like to state that I think there is more to education than the three R’s.  However, it is important to teach them as well practical skills.

My question is why must we have character education in the first place?  Isn’t that what parents and family is for?

It seems, to me at least, that Obama is giving everyone some of our fish, fish we caught and cleaned.  Obama is also implementing the teaching methods, programs, and strategies that make the masses feel good about themselves.  He is hoping that the masses are too busy feeling good about him and themselves to put up much of a stink.  So how do we counteract that?  There have been loads of suggestions that we purchase some MSM, attend tea parties, run for office ourselves, write letters, make phone calls, get into conversations with our liberal friends, attend our local Republican meetings.  Get involved and get out there.  Has it been working?  Well, it’s only been a few months.  We can tell in a few weeks here because we have Board of Education elections coming up.  Then the next test is in November.

For those involved in their local Republican Club, if you lost this last November do you feel that you have learned from your mistakes?

I think an important aspect that no one ever mentions is our message.  People do not know what conservatism is.  Put it up on your twitter.  Be succinct.  This is what a conservative is.  Put it up on your facebook.  Email it out to liberal friends.  Get the word out.   I know people here tell me that Republicans/Conservatives are “old rich white guys”.  Uh, thanks.  Last time I looked in the mirror I was neither, old, rich, or a guy.  Maybe it’s time to purchase a new mirror?

Experiment

Anytime I posted some thing political on Facebook I would receive insulting responses from my liberal friends. I am from Jersey so you can imagine the number of friends I have that our liberal.  I have not posted anything political other than links, which I think no one looks at, in awhile.  Today I decided to experiment and pose the question “do you think Obama is doing a good job”?  I am sure I will get some interesting responses.  I’ll do a follow up entry with the responses.  If you would like to follow along here is my facebook link.  http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/profile.php?id=80800487&ref=profile

Hope, Change, and Fair

This is just an opinion blog.  I leave the hard hitting things to the masters.

Long before Obama came on the scene, I have hated those words.  Those sentiments.  They are very often misused or used entirely too much.

Hope-  Sounds lovely doesn’t it?  Makes you feel all those touchy feely emotions?  Bah humbug!  Hope is a cruel mistress.  You put time, energy, emotion, etc into its greedy grasp and never do you receive a tenth of it back.  People are often inspired by the word.  That’s it just inspired.  They become useless lazy blobs who hope instead of work.  Who hope instead of think.  A great way to get mindless drones.

Change-  I do like change.   If you’re overweight and you change your eating habits, it’s a great idea!  If you change your clothes every day… thank you!  Another great idea for change.  But people use it as a way to get out of work.  Relationship not going smoothly?  Change!  Something not going the way you want it?  No discussion?  No waiting?  No, it’s change!

Fair-  What a lovely word.  In the hands of certain people it becomes a cruel game.  Who determines what is fair?   Fair does not mean 50/50.  If you think that we have a problem.  What’s fair for me is not fair for you.  Why do things need to be fair anyway?  People use it as an excuse.  It’s not fair, so I’m not going to do my homework.  It’s not fair, so I’m not going to pay my taxes.

People are lazy and they cry out “hope!”, “change!”, and “fair!,” then they don’t have to do the work.

Rebuilding

The Republican Party is at a major crossroads with no updated map, GPS, working compass, or the knowledge of navigating by the stars.  Different fractions of the party want to go a different way.  Each fraction believes that they are right.  They often refuse to listen to other people.  I have some advice.  GROW UP.  We, as a party, need to decide what is important.  Establish that and then decide how to work from there.

We have this amazing opportunity to come back bigger and stronger than ever.   We know what this administration’s policies are going to do.  We need to be able to be a leading strong voice to come in and clean house in 2012.  Right now I don’t think we’re on our way to doing that.   We need it at every level.  Get off your bums and go to meetings.

Liberals know how to appeal to the masses.  They know how to talk to them.  They package their ideology very well.  We aren’t so good at PR and marketing.  How do we change this?  How do we show people what conservatism is all about?   The liberals have the media and pop culture.  We need to infiltrate it.  How?  How do we work over our image?  I hate to say it, but it’s true.  Republicans never go after the young voters.  Start programs with high schools and colleges.  It doesn’t have to be political, but about the conservative ideology.  Start having commercials.  Write works of fiction.  While, you may enjoy nonfiction there are a lot of average Joe’s out there who want to escape with a work of fiction.  Write movie scripts.  Write sitcom scripts.  Write conservative based songs.  Infiltrate pop culture.

We don’t need to get Republicans with us.  We don’t want to preach to the choir.  We want new blood.  New ideas.  I think we need to exchange ideas, and the way to do that is to sit down be quiet and LISTEN.  We are not always going to agree.  It would be quite boring if we did.  However, we do need to find a solid foundation on what we want to rebuild.  How we’re going to rebuild.  When we’re going to do it.  Why we’re going to do it.  Let’s make the Republican Party a party made out of brick, not straw.

What is a Republican?

I am sure all of you can answer that question.  Further more, I am sure all of you can answer what the difference between our party and the democrat party.  So if we know the answer then why is it the title?  Simply put the average American who voted probably does not know what the Republican party stands for and what the difference is between us and the Democrat party.

I have been a frequent reader of Redstate since this summer.  I became a member a month or so ago and today is my first diary.  I apologize if I am pointing out things we already know or rehashing things.  But, I wanted to get this out.  I worked as a substitute teacher for four years and am now working outside of the school system while trying to get a teaching job.  Throughout my experiences as a sub, through conversations with friends(I live in New Jersey you can assume which party they belong to), and in my general surfing of the web I have noticed a few things.

People may adamantly state that they are a Democrat, but their opinions and actions say otherwise.  People when spewing their hatred of Bush and all us evil republicans start to show their ignorance on matters because they always have holes the size of a tank in their “facts”.   Who is to blame for this?

1.  The person.  Laziness on their part.  We cannot make people research and find out the FACTS.  This is one problem that will be hard to fix.  You can’t make someone care.

2.  The MSM.  We all know they are biased to the left.  We need hard facts to show this and we need to show it to everyone we know.  Everyone we know who is not a Republican.  Call them out on it.  Call the stations.  Write letters.  Get the word out.  A lot of people believe the MSM without a single doubt.  We know this.  The swallow every lie, omission, and misinterpretation of the facts.  So we know what the problem is here.  I’ve seen all the diaries and comments about the MSM.  So what do we do about it?  What about a MSM army?  I don’t know what the solution is, but I think we can come up with something to battle it.

3. Our education system.  College-  I went to a very liberal school.  In fact, in my Environmental Studies class the professor NEVER talked about the environment.  No no he talked about his hatred of Bush and republicans in general and how we are the reason that “we are all going to hell in a hand basket”.    Now I majored in history and everything was based on “social history”.  It was all a liberal agenda to teach us how evil conservatives were.  I had one class where the professor gave me a D on a paper because the views expressed in the paper “were not those of the class”.  I had refused to write about the evil white men.  I, instead, chose to honor them and write about what and who they were.  I refuse to rewrite history to back up my ideology.   So why did I never do anything?  I didn’t want to fail.  Looking back now, I should have gone to the Dean to complain.  I could have transferred to another school.  Unfortunately, though all of New Jersey public schools are like this one.

4.  Our Schools- K-12- Ah, our lovely public school system.  It is a joke.  Kids today do not learn anything in history classes.  As most of you know teachers in general are liberals.  This effects what is taught in the classroom.  Children are not being taught the full story of our Nation’s history.  They get the bit pieces that further emphasize a liberal ideology.  Students do not know the Constitution.  Students do not know simple economics.  Students do not know the map of the United States.  Yes, I am 100 percent serious.  We I student taught only five kids out of 120 knew where all 50 states where.  I was teaching eleventh grade.  They did not know who Reagan was.  How do we overcome this massacre of our kids’ education?  What do we do?  What can we do?  How do we do it?  What is the solution?

5.  Incomplete biased websites-  So, I decided to pretend like I did not know what a Republican was or what the difference was between our party and the Democrat party.  I did what most people do.  I googled!  (I love to randomly google things when I am  bored)  The websites that come up are garbage.  Nothing is in plain simple English.  It’s easy to understand if you follow politics.  However, most people are lay people and need things to be spelled out in simple bulleted points with visuals to help aid in their understanding.  Here’s a look at wikipedia’s comparison of the parties. I hope that link works.  First time doing this sorry!  I do not know how to copy and paste a quote from a website, but if you go to the above link you will see that it mentions

” Economic performance In Unequal democracy: The political-economy of the new gilded age (Princeton, 2008), Princeton political scientist Larry Bartels presents his research findings that Democratic presidents have generally been more successful in both, spurring overall income growth and creating a more equitable distribution of income since World War II”

It goes on a bit to talk about how the Democrats were better blah blah blah and that’s the end of the page.   Nice.  Not biased at all right?   I have this theory on research and please I want to know what you think about this.  I believe that you can do research, surveys, use charts and numbers (remember numbers don’t lie, oh but people DO or mislead) and validate any number of theories and or ideologies.  You can probably do some really good research and come up with a paper that talks about how great Hitler is.  (Heck, look at all the Obama followers.)  I am sure if you read their stuff it sounds great and look at all the lovely citations they have!  They have studies and this and that.  Oh, my obviously this is telling the truth and wouldn’t leave out anything that didn’t back this up!

So what do we do?  I have a suggestion, though I would put it into someone else’s hand.  People, those who do not follow politics and are not savvy at all when it comes to these matters, need clear concise facts.  Use only facts.  NO OPINIONS.  NO EXCUSES.  JUST CLEAR CUT FACTS.  This is what a republican is.  This is what a democrat is.  Then explain in the simplest terms possible.  You know there are people who have no idea what the term “fiscal” means.  Show voting records.  Use elementary examples.  Something that a twelve year old can understand.  Perhaps when it comes to explaining the philosophy behind each party.  Do not use big words.  Republican-  man is hungry we teach him how to fish.  Liberals- man is hungry okay they take fish from other fishermen to spread that fish around and the cycle continues and continues.
