Do You Get It Now, Mr. President?

As the Obama Administration cuts defense spending, a Syrian Man with press credentials was apparently stopped before he could get close enough to stab the President.  This as Mr. Obama declares to Turkey, “We are not at war with Islam.”

The President is right.  We are not at war with Islam.  We are at war with Islamic Extremism.  We are at war with those who would expend their lives to kill as many Americans as they possibly can out of the mistaken belief that this will grant them automatic entry into paradise.  We are at war with the Taliban and Al Quaeda.

We did not choose this war.  In fact, we pretended not to be at war for ten years after the first Persian Gulf War, when Osama bin Laden declared his jihad.  We pretended to not be at war after the first World Trade Center bombing, the bombing of the USS Cole and our embassies overseas.

Only after 3,000 Americans died on September 11, 2001 did we finally acknowlege that we were at war.  Mr. Obama appears keen to return to the viewpoint that we are not at war, that this is all a police action.  Now that his own life has been directly threatened by one of these goons, is he ready to admit that he was wrong?  Is he ready to admit that this is a war of ideology that we cannot afford to lose?

Somehow, I doubt it.

Ironically, in light of the liberal talking point that W was too arrogant to admit he was wrong (when, in fact, he wasn’t), Obama actually IS.

Even on those several occasions in which public opinion and/or actual reality has forced Obama to backpedal, it has always been prefaced with a statement that the new position is, in fact, the position he’s always held. However, even in those instances, he doesn’t actually CHANGE his policy. He simply restates the policy in a way that makes it appear as though he’s doing it YOUR way.

In other words, weakening our national defense IS the Obama policy. In the next week or so, expect a statement to the effect of: “I have always said that religious (he WON’T say “Islamic”) or ideological extremism is the gravest threat to the world’s safety (he WON’T couch it as national security — he can’t even PRETEND to give a damn about that).”

He will then go on to explain how unilateral disarmament (which he will continue to call “multilateral”) and the abandoning of new weapons projects actually STRENGTHENS our position in the world, and positively effects the outcome of our fight against terrorists.

BHO gave you an answer directly from Turkey:

WE ALL FRIENDS OF ISLAM NOW.

Too Bushite, don’t you think? Somehow, BHO is a poor copycat of GWB.
