Any big surprises left

Like rezko or the birth certificate thing?

Why will Obama not provide his birth certificate on the Berg lawsuit? Would it not be the simplest way to approach it. Could this become an issue before this election is over? Does anyone think that he may actually have been born in Kenya?

Also, is the Fitzgerald investigation of Rezko going to ultimately turn up something on Obama? Again, before election day?

Are these both Hail Mary’s or do they have legs?

Back to Square One [Mark Krikorian]

Beth from Washington State responded to my post on George Will’s column:

[The column] Articulates why my vote for McCain has gone something like this:

  1. Stay at home – not vote for McCain

  2. Post Saddleback debate – vote for McCain

  3. Selection of Palin – donate $$ to McCain/Palin

  4. McCain’s reaction to Wall St financial crisis, esp criticism of Cox and suggestion of bringing in Andrew Cuomo – see position number 1

Palin Pick

I am not so convinced as

most of the posters here that she was the right choice, though I certainly like her.

Krauhthammer says that McCain was already gaining momentum and that this was a needless risk. He could be correct. McCain had no need to be desparate. Obama has had a slight lead, but so what. The Dems over the last two elections have had even greater leads at this time and lost. So, why panic?

Also, go over to NRO and read some of David Frum’s comments. He also makes much sense. We are involved in two wars and the appearance of a re-emerging imperial Russia, not to mention the Iran issue. Is Palin ready to step in and handle these situations, should something happen to an aging McCain?

McCain had Obama back on his heels, and now the issue for this campaign is one of whether McCain, who claims to put country first, put politics and identity politics first in the choosing of his VP.

Palin will have several weeks to show her gravitas and comportment and poise. And, given the media bias, any minor failing will be magnified to absurdity.

It gives me little assurance, after the Chris Wallace interview this morning with McCain, that he only met with her very briefly. That is totally amazing. Could he be putting his almost obsessive desire to be the maverick ahead of common sense?

I am deathly afraid of an Obama presidency. I guess I will need to do some serious praying.

What if Obama picks Hillary?

That is my concern

I really think that that would bring him some votes, votes that might otherwise go to McCain, especially in the swing states. At the very least, it might get him voters that would otherwise stay home. This could make the difference in a close election.

Anyone share my concern?

Here is one Israeli who sees Obama for who he is

An Open Letter to Barack Obama by David Ha'ivri

A quite insighful commentary by one who does not want to be used for the political gain of Obama

We know who your friends are:

Barack, your visit here is just a waste of time; you’re not wanted or needed here. We’ll do just fine without you and you’ll probably do better with out us, too. Don’t come around here making as if you’re looking out for the good of Israel. We know who you are and who your friends are.

Can you imagine that? Judging one by the company one keeps. Does this guy not know that all of these people are not “the same people that Barack once knew.”

We can’t really blame you for the beliefs of Father Michael Pfleger, who embraces Black Liberation Theology, which claims that Jesus was Black - so the Jews have no claim to Israel and, therefore, the Muslims are the rightful heirs of the Holy Land. Those beliefs have nothing to do with you, aside from the fact that you have coined the man your “moral compass.” But one must admit that Pfleger is not your only mentor and also is not alone in looking up to Farrakhan.

Barack Hussein, why don’t you just go home? Your visit to Israel this week is not because you’re looking out for the wellbeing of Israel and the Jewish people. You’re coming to Israel looking for the Jewish vote; your goal is to speak with the Jewish American voters through the press coverage of this tour to the holy land. You want them to think that you took the time off from your busy campaign to further peace in the Middle East. Your hope is that enough stupid Jews will misread the message and take it as an act of support for Israel.

Stupid Jews? Geez, I wish we had less stupid Americans.
