McCain/Reagan: Taxes, Speakers and the Race Card

Worthy of an mbecker part 4?

Legal Editor for The Minority and HinzSight Reports

By the most basic of criteria, John McCain is running a great campaign. He is defying history by either leading polls or being within the margin of error in July when past Dem losers led by from 7-14 points at this stage.

Nevermind Nirvana, Rush is Right

And Limbaugh has been right for nearly 20 years

Had I smelled teen spirit before I heard Rush Limbaugh, I may never have seen the conservative light.

Rock died for me after Ozzy left Black Sabbath in 1979 and wasn’t resurrected until late 1991, as Grunge, with the release of Nirvana’s Nevermind album, and its signature song, “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”

But I didn’t know the song’s name until a few years later because I first heard The Rush Limbaugh Program in early 1991.

Dobson moments vs. Evangelical Election Days

Single-issue values voters for pied-pipers tag is a bigoted smear

Evangelicals have been the most loyal GOP voters since Ronald Reagan brought them into the party in droves in 1980. They left their previous apathy or Democratic Party allegiance to vote for Republicans based on issues, not instructions from media appointed “leaders.”

Given that, I was quite amused at all the teeth gnashing by certain libertarian and/or secular leaning conservatives last winter when Dr. James Dobson and other prominent Evangelicals vocalized their opposition to pro-choice candidate Rudy Giuliani. I was even more amused at the wailing when Dobson announced he couldn’t vote for John McCain. My amusement was a mask for my contempt for people that have such a low opinion of Evangelicals (as well as Southerners and Christians in general) as to think that they follow pied-pipers rather than vote issues like the enlightened.

The wailing teeth-gnashers were convinced by “leader” statements and those ubiquitous between election polls that liberals put out to torture the political novices or those with memories that seem to wane every four years, that Evangelicals would abandon the party.

‘Cocky Sabbatical ends in Christian humility

Peach State attorney talks Palmetto State, esq. off Roost

The purpose of a Sabbatical is to renew one’s faith and the energy and enthusiasm to act on it. Mine from Redstate was successful, thanks to a Georgia angel sent from its Bar to remind a certain rooster that it’s not all about him.

Its about the Lord’s work first and America’s second as it fits into the first.

The nation-state that God ordained as part of the post-Eden, post Babel damage control plan is under attack from a Citizen of the World; an intellectual and morally bankrupt party kidnaps energy from its owners as it seeks to de-industrialize the nation in search of permanent power over victim-dependency constituency within a world without walls; and the evil we are defeating on the other side of the wall takes heart that their community organizing will be easier if a Chicago version takes American power off the table.

My dearest Redstate: Gamecock announces sabbatical from 3.0

Would like to read his 2.0 blog during vacation

Dear Redstate.com

(including not only Directors and frontpagers, but especially fellow commenters and users that along with me have made Redstate a force in GOP politics over the past few years)

If any Director (or employee thereof) of my beloved Redstate locates my blog (which contains vital information for the book proposal I am trying to write for the book about my 2000 conservative epiphany after 18 years an activist SC Dem Party official) please forward via e-mail.

Redstate has been a huge part of my life in developing as a conservative Republican and my writings here were instrumental in reaching my goal of being a columnist for a major newspaper.

No charge for this re RedHot 3.0, scrolling and carpel tunnel (Open RedHot Thread)

And my aversion to change, generally, has nothing to do with this

We, the unwashed masses that mob this site, want to comment on anything and everything that gets said, and especially now that the 3.0 front page is a two column tunnel vision (instead of the clear view of all that mattered 3 column 2.0), same includes RedHots.

Neil, it would be news if Obama and the Der Speigle MSM ran a truthful headline on the Iraq War. But yes, lets call them out for the lies 24/7. (See, I couldn’t wait for a directorgod to state what I know!, hence, this open REDHOT thread)

The main problem with 3.0 is that it requires more scrolling. And folks, the Book was an improvement over scrolls!

“Let them eat cake” Democrats

Oval Office address must employ a newer tone and out the Jackass enemy of the American Dream that is waging war on lower/middle income families

By Mike DeVine, Legal Editor for The Minority Report and The HinzSight Report

The crisis can’t wait till Inauguration Day, 2009. America is not a TV show whose plot hinges on what camera angle CNN decides to use to make McCain look old and short and Obama look like he has a clue.

Americans are hurting and the fact that we haven’t had two consecutive quarters and can shout “Recession!” to the rooftops, ain’t filling the tank for a trip to Myrtle Beach or leaving enough dough after a trip to the Exxon Station to buy the Leseur peas instead of the Kroger brand. Grandma in Rome, GA still misses seeing the grand kids in Atlanta most weekends since she lives more than a few blocks away.

Democrats speak of windmills as Rome burns.

DeVine Law: DNA is not “Divine law” for JonBenet’s parents or anyone else

Prosecutors could have publicly cleared Ramseys a decade ago

By Mike DeVine, Legal Editor for The Minority Report and The HinzSight Report

DNA is no more a magic bullet for clearing or convicting criminal defendants and suspects than were the ancient practices of seeing if a suspect could survive poisoning of being thrown in a lake tied to a rock.

And neither gamecock nor Mike DeVine, esq. needs assistance from any CockStradamus to forecast that we will soon discover that convicts paroled due to DNA evidence were actually guilty of the crimes for which they were convicted.

This rooster crows the above in the wake of Boulder County (CO) District Attorney Mary Lacy’s public “clearing” of the parents of murdered 6-year old beauty queen, JonBente Ramsey in 1996, “citing new DNA tests.”

Ever heard of the axiom that one cannot prove a negative?

Cockstradamus: Victory in Iraq will help McCain and the GOP

By Mike DeVine, Legal Editor for The Minority Report and The HinzSight Report

Victory in Iraq is ours (see July 13 below), and, as predicted by Cockstradamus weeks ago, the victory will be declared before the November election.

Rooster crowing from from June 22

Accelerated troop level reductions will be announced based on success. For many moons now, this announcer of dawns has been nagged by an idea that dawned on me after Iraq’s security forces started winning battles on their own against Sunni-backed al Qaeda, Shia militias and even Iranian backed militias.

Tony Snow was defined by his Bible Believing Christian Faith

And he guest hosted for Rush Limbaugh

By Mike DeVine, Legal Editor for The Minority Report and The HinzSight Report

Tony Snow made it OK for me to become Republican.

I’ll never forget the first time I heard him. He was guest hosting for Rush Limbaugh in the mid-1990s. I don’t remember the details of that show or of the many other Open-line Fridays he would sit in for the King of Talk Radio that even this, then Democrat, loved.

I remember most vividly that Tony Snow made it no secret that he worshipped the King of Kings and that he considered his Book authoritative for life. He wore his faith so naturally and beautifully even if it was, on his sleeve!

We need sleeves. Ever look at Nadal’s underarm pits?

Pull a Gamecock: GC Recommends that Recommenders post a comment

The Recommended Diary entries section appears random/dysfunctional

Every time I recommend a blog on this Beta-Redstate 3.0, I post a comment alerting the diary writer and the general public. I usually did that on 2.0, but it is imperative that we do it here at the “improved” site since the site does not identify recommenders.

Moreover, there is ZERO stability in the order of the recommended diaries. They jump around from minute to minute or disappear altogether. And since human nature is still 1.0, I suspect either a dysfunction or a heretofore undisclosed new policy diminishing the prominence and importance of user diaries.

Conservatives accept MSM mischaracterization of Gramm comments [updated]

Let liberal meme of GOP as heartless live another day

[See updates at the bottom that include Gramm's clarification. h/t to my Race42008.com colleague, Aron Goldman]

By Mike DeVine, Legal Editor for The Minority Report and The HinzSight Report

I refer to McCain economics advisor and former Sen. Phil Gramm’s “whiny Americans about a mental recession” flap.

The leftist MSM lives for taking conservatives’ words out of context and fitting it into their template of Republicans’ as racist, bigot, heartless warmongers.

What is so sad is that the Hannitys and Gingrich’s on TV and even Hugh Hewitt on the radio don’t see what is being done, and end up accepting the liberal template and gotcha games.
