What is Obama president of again?

The UN? The BBC?

Originally published by Mike DeVine, Legal Editor for The Minority Report

Obama speaks in third person of United States as dictator

His first phone call after re-taking the Oath of Office prescribed for the office of President of the United States (this time sans Bible), was to the leader of the Palestinian Authority, whose Fatah Party does not recognize the right of Israel to exist.

Now, in his first television interview (with Al-Arabiya) after re-taking the Oath, President Obama seems to speak as President of some other entity while slandering my country:

“What I told him [Middle East envoy George Mitchell] is start by listening, because all too often the United States starts by dictating,” Obama told the interviewer

His reference to “dictating” is bad enough, but that he didn’t refer to the US as his country is coldly reminiscent of his “Citizen of the World” self-description during his campaign stop in Berlin, Germany (Obama pictured above in Berlin).

Does he see himself more as President of the World whose duty is to chastise a “United States” he feels no strong connection to? He spoke of “the United States” like he might speak of say Kenya.

I have written often in the past that many on the left love America, just not the actual America that has existed since 1776 and has an actual history. No, many on the left love an imaginary America that they think can be fashioned with socialist, appeasement policies and just the right kind of “smart” bureaucrats.

Obama’s disembodiment of himself from his Office to act as an international critic at large against “the United States as dictator” is especially disappointing coming on the heels of some excellent rhetoric in his Inaugural address praising the Founders and our history.

What has the United States “dictated” in the Middle East?

Somehow I don’t think President Obama bemoans the fact that President Bush refused to cooperate with Israel’s plan to bomb Iranian nuclear sites. Does he think President Clinton was the dictator when, with Israel’s agreement, offered Yassir Arafat all but pushing Israel into the Sea in 2000? Clearly Arafat was the dictator then. Are we dictating when we support Israel’s right to defend itself from attacks on their civilians from the Hezbos and Hamas?

Or is Obama referring to dictating to Saddam Hussein that he could not have Kuwait or commit genocide against the Kurds?

Obama made some great choices for his national security team during the transition, but since taking office he has exuded weakness to would be enemies of the United States like most elected Democrats do. Don’t worry Osama, if we catch you, we won’t harm a hair on your head and we’ll give you an OJ trial.

The deterrence of the United States, re-established with such success after 911 by President Bush, is withering away.

Vice President Joe Biden warned of an international test within six months.

President Obama’s aggression inviting weakness may move the exam up before Summer.

Only those unwilling to accept the true provenance of Obama would expect otherwise.

What we have elected is a person who was raised with vitually no connections established to the mainstream heritage of this nation. His purported father was a vistor from Kenya, his mother was of little influence in his formative years, his grand parents were disaffected liberals, his step father was foreign, he spent early years in Indonesia, his mentors were communists, he grew up in Hawaii where there is a pervasive sentiment of an anti-mainland/anti-American culture and almost a total ignorance or rejection of the cultural traditions of the our founding principles.

He then gets steeped in the liberal culture of Columbia and is groomed by the like of Ayers and Wright while selling his soul to the corrupt Chicago political machine.

Is it little wonder that he has no respect for OUR flag or OUR country?

Some reasonable and accurate knowledge of history vs. a barely literate fantasy . . . this distinction, in my experience, is what often separates conservatives from liberals. Especially, this is the case when it comes to our policies in the Middle East and Muslim countries.

Frustratingly, but not surprisingly (I work at a university), right after 911, many colleagues sniveled about why “they” hate us. The “they” were Muslims in general. May colleagues concluded that it was our hegemony (academia loves these kinds of words!) and our ill will and our blah, blah, blah that caused the hate.

When I pointed out some simple history (and I’m no historian or expert, but I can do a little simple research when called to do so), I was greeted with deer-in-the-headlights stares and then a return to their mantra (“US bad, US bad, terrorist good! Oh, we didn’t mean terrorist, we meant freedom fighter against US oppression good, etc., etc., etc.”).

I have concluded, with some just cause, that liberals of the same ilk as Obama live in a fantasy world. Unfortunately for the rest of us, real dangers exist and multiply when fantasy folk like Obama are in charge.

    Great post, by the way.

    Take Care, mailloux

And to you… Mr. DeVine… a tremendous amount of “Thanks”… for this piece… and for some advice you gave me last week.

Since Monday… I finally found a Rush Limbaugh radio station in the area… and YOU were right, he is a treasure. He concisely puts into words… the things that I care about. After listening to other less organized thinkers and talkers… including moderate O’Reilly… Rush gives me hope that WE… the remaining conservatives… can make a stand before this country goes to far.

    Thanks again…

Unfortunately, we now have beset upon us this “citizen of the world” at the same time that a Congress dominated by his political party, which has dubious ethical qualities in spite of its claims, is in session.  The Republicans, what few of them are of staunchly pro-American conservative leanings are left, are dominated by a so-called “moderate” wing which acts more like dhimmis in medieval Baghdad than an opposition party.  There are no obstacles to the Socialist-Democrats’ operations, whatever they may be, save for the passive resistance of those of us who may still be willing to do so.

As for what the rest of the “world” thinks of us now, much remains to be seen in the coming months.  I wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up reversing the trends set by GW Bush’s responses to 9/11 and the liberation of Iraq from the dictatorship of Saddam Hussein.  As for the nature of that “exam” which Biden so boldly announced would come, may it be of such a shocking nature that the silent majority rises to the occasion to unseat the crowd of arrogant fools which dominates our government and the “housepets” who supported their reign are forever shamed into keeping their peace…

TBone, plus the article GC as well :^)

But wait, you forget, Obama is the first “African-American President of the United States”. I heard that on the radio and TV. It must be a new position in our federal government, from what I gather.

  • http://andrightlyso.com/ civil_truth

Obama takes tremendous effort to script his communications to mask his true convictions or to leave himself an out (i.e. plausible deniability).

However, this is something that is so basic in his character that he didn’t even think about it, and thus didn’t run it past his parsers.

    Good pick-up

  • boyhowdy

Obama has already stated that he would ” Stand with the Muslims”..Where does that leave the Jews? Obama will destroy years of democracy in the Middle East with his pandering to Iran and the Muslims.

If we break this down we will realize that the American side of Obama’s blood relatives are all dead before he even became POTUS. This is the first time the US has elected someone President whose living family members outside of marriage are not citizens of the USA. His brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandmother are citizens of Kenya.

Knowing this why should it shock anyone that Obama speaks about US policy in a passive third-party voice? Unless law is passed to clarify and define the definition of “natural born citizen” in Article 2 of the US Constitution I worry about future US Presidents. What is to stop a couple from Europe, Asia, Africa, or South America from having a child born in a US hospital from being POTUS one day? They obviously themselves do not have to become US citizens for it to happen.

?The United States does not torture? ? George W. Bush

How dare he refer to the United States in the third person!

Is there really nothing more significant that you have to talk about?

  • Vegas_Rick
  • Rusty5329

What is it about the difference in context that makes this so important?

  • Vegas_Rick
  • Vegas_Rick

Brobama was speaking to the enemy.

  • Rusty5329

Why should truth depend upon the audience?

  • Vegas_Rick

It’s about ownership. But, based on your line of thinking, I doubt you’ll understand that. And, if it was about truth, WE don’t torture and WE don’t dictate.

  • mbecker908

  • Rusty5329

we have tortured. Waterboarding is torture. McCain has a better vantage point on this than you do. Not to mention, we persecuted Japanese soldiers for torturing our soldiers. They waterboarded them, and we found it completely unacceptable.

It’s about ownership, why could Bush not take ownership?

  • Vegas_Rick

Waterboarding is not torture. Just as that guy from Fox News who volunteered for it. The scumbag slime balls that caused Americans to jump from hundreds of feet up on 9/11 deserve a whole lot more than waterboarding.

Get lost idiot. DKOS is looking for you.

Having not idiots, but carbon copies of idiots coming through here like clockwork is torture.

Next time send a parrot. He would be far more interesting and save us all some time.

It’s sad, really, that John McCain’s massive, egotistical lust for the Presidency has misled people like you into believing a word he said re: torture was genuine or sincere. He did that torture stunt just to get applause from his buddies in the press, Rusty.

Guys: He’s not a troll. Just wrong. I looked him up. I think I found his YouTube account and he’s just a big fan of St. John the McCain.

  • redneck_hippie

Oh, I like that even better than my trademarked nickname for The One (the novelty President).

Terrorists are not soldiers nor are they Guerillas.

A combatant must be a signatory or follow the GC to be protected. Otherwise they are lumped together with Spies and Mercenaries, which means you can poke their eye out and rape the socket and it is not against the GC.

And the Japanese did worse than waterboard. The Camp commandant of Chichi Jima decapitated via swordstrike American Prisoners and then ate their livers. They massacred all the Prisoners taken at Wake Island, even the Civilian contractors, when we retook the Island. Ever heard of the Greatest Raid, Japanese did immolate Prisoners of War…

Japanese soldiers also tucked one live grenade under each armpit and when they ‘surrendered’ by putting their arms up, out fell the grenades. Hence, GIs and Marines stopped attempting to take prisoners. Which is also a perfectly lawful act according to the GCs.

This gem via AOP… The Associated Obama Press…………..

Samantha Power, an advocate of INVADING Israel will be appointed to the post of senior director for multilateral affairs at the National Security Council.

WASHINGTON (AP) ? Samantha Power, the Harvard University professor who earned notoriety for calling Hillary Rodham Clinton a “monster” while working to elect Barack Obama president, will take a senior foreign policy job at the White House, The Associated Press has learned.

Officials familiar with the decision say Obama has tapped Power to be senior director for multilateral affairs at the National Security Council, a job that will require close contact and potential travel with Clinton, who is now secretary of state. NSC staffers often accompany the secretary of state on foreign trips.

It isn’t about the truth. The network that Obama was on was also a network that Bush did an interview with in 2004. Both of them used this network to express their views to the population of the middle east on touchy subjects. If they wanted to conduct a truthful interview with the middle east, then both of them would have gone to a more balanced networks. Instead, they both went to the network that lobs softball questions.

But for Obama, it wasn’t about the truth but about appearance and political appeasement. In the end it shows that Obama would rather have an arab puff piece then have a spine.

Since half of the force in Iraq are contractors. This line of reasoning justifies any action done against them.. I would try another route.

the result of an election? Or the result of a corrupt media frenzy, celebrity endorsements and power/ money —- from exactly where? How did a one-term Senator rise so quickly? He was elected to be ” the one”, before we even had a chance to say — who?

Sexual assault and mutilation of civilians, even those caught in violation of the laws of wars, is forbidden.

Simply shooting them instead of accepting their surrender isn’t. That was a fairly explicit decision on the part of the signatories.

shoudnt we be able to present our different points of view without resorting to name calling and threats? Seriously, cmon.

  • redrover

From the recent tone of the blogs here it seems as if some of my Red State friends are experiencing a case of political “shock and awe”.

How many here secretly desire a terrorist attack on out country because the president happens to be named Obama?

How many here now harbor desires for the economy to worsen and for thousands to be thrown out of work to prove a point?

The incessant nattering and gnashing on trivialities demonstrates a slavish fealty to a failed ideology rather than a true desire to keep the nation safe and prosperous.
