What spooked Obama to pitchfork Fox News before Halloween

This column has a column topic section titled “pitchforks“, so ubiquitous has been President Barack Obama’s “Chicago Way” tactics to “clear the field” of opposition to his policies.

Obama has long practiced clear the Field politics as opposed to honest debate against opposition, going all the way back to the leaking of his senate opponent’s confidential sealed divorce records. The first such utterance specifically to unleashing a pitchfork wielding populist mob against opponents as President was this exchange with bank CEOs in April:

“These are complicated companies,” one CEO said. Offered another: “We’re competing for talent on an international market.”
But President Barack Obama wasn’t in a mood to hear them out. He stopped the conversation, and offered a blunt reminder of the public’s reaction to such explanations. “Be careful how you make those statements, gentlemen. The public isn’t buying that.”
“My administration,” the president added, “is the only thing between you and the pitchforks.”

Tomorrow night is an occasion celebrating the most famous wielder of a pitchfork, variously known by the appellations of Satan, Lucifer, Beelzebub and, most famously, The Devil.

devil pitchfork

The most recent folks to be pricked by ObamaZebub’s pointed stick have been doctors, insurance companies, and, most famously the evil Television equivalent of evil Talk Radio, i.e. Fox News Channel. But why have the pitchforks been sicked on a non-broadcast cable news outlet that garners but a fraction of the audiences of the CBS, NBC and ABC (all in the tank for ObamaMessiah) news, individually and combined?

Jim Rutenberg of the New York Times recently risked sustaining steel-pointed, fork-shaped injuries when he reported:

By the following weekend, officials at the White House had decided that if anything, it was time to take the relationship to an even more confrontational level. The spur: Executives at other news organizations, including The New York Times, had publicly said that their newsrooms had not been fast enough in following stories that Fox News, to the administration’s chagrin, had been heavily covering through the summer and early fall — namely, past statements and affiliations of the White House adviser Van Jones that ultimately led to his resignation and questions surrounding the community activist group Acorn.

Read the whole column that reports on behind the scenes meetings between FNC’s Roger Ailes and White House adviser David Axelrod, as well as Obama’s meetings with his advisor’s and see if you can think of any President we have ever had with such thin skin and less confidence in his message?

I couldn’t.

The fear that the Drive-By media is being shamed into actually covering news that doesn’t fit their preferred story lines is welcome news for anyone that cares about this nation’s electorate being informed.

Examiner.com has never been in the tank for any politician. We don’t do drive-by hits. We examine the facts and report. And if we have a point of view, left or right, we say so.

You probably knew that, but I’ll point it out. In 1996, running for the IL state senate, his forces got incumbent Alice Palmer (and the 3 other minor candidates) removed from the ballot with some fishy-smelly challenging of signatures on the petitions to appear on the ballot.

“if we have a point of view, left or right, we say so.”

If “ObamaZebub” doesn’t say it, what does? (^:^)

The White House (stately old mansion that it is) is right on this one. If the MSM had reported honestly on Rev. Jeremiah Wright, William Ayers, and Obama’s entanglement with Acorn, while reporting accurately on the impossibility for Obama to fulfill any of his no-tax and spend campaign promises, he might not have been elected, and he certainly would have had to fight harder.

He can’t afford to have them suddenly remember those musty J-school lessons before the next election. I’d look for more threats against Fox, with arched eyebrows and pointed looks at the MSM.

    “Don’t FOX me, Bro!”

Remember Obama said: if not for Fox News, his poll no. would have been even better? He should have said: if not for all the alphabet media, he would be a nobody! Yes! the media made him. He is used to the fawning. Guess what, keep making enemies and the media will turn on him so fast he won’t even have time to tuck his tail between his legs! Remember even Fox News did not (still dosen’t) have the guts to expose his ineligibility to be the president – he was born a dual citizen with divided loyalty, not a constitution article 2 natural born citizen therefore not eligible to be POTUS! Never mind his shady association and background. He is NOT eligible. PERIOD.
See how everyone but the WH is asking why he spends over million bucks to hide his real birth ceritificate:

Obama is scared to death that FOX news will expose his ultimate secret.

caving a bit. They seem to be bending over backward to be extra “Fair and Balanced.”

This morning, I heard Carl Cameron (I think) comment on the newsworthy political races, and he made a point of mentioning Bob McDonnell’s 20-year-old Master’s thesis, including the details that the Dem’s were trying to use to gain ground in Virginia. No harm, probably, but also irrelevant, and it sounded to me like an attempt to be “extra fair.” Brian Wilson followed up with an announcement to the effect that “although Fox News was only at the Republican candidates’ locations today, tomorrow they will be at the Democrats’ headquarters as well.”

On the Fox website, the following comment is included in the NY-23 story:

Meanwhile Hoffman, a wealthy accountant, has been gaining support from big Republican backers….

I’m not real sure why there was a need to include the phrase, “a wealthy accountant.” No similar statement was made about Democrat Bill Owens, a wealthy lawyer.

Perhaps they’re compensating in advance for Rush Limbaugh’s upcoming appearance tomorrow on Fox News Sunday.

Or maybe I just have a case of ObamaEars.

I’ve noticed the same thing. They’re chickening out. No backbone.

FOX is trying to build some interest in the VA governor’s race when just about everyone knows it’s “Put a fork in it” time.

Make some tension, encourage people to pay attention, sell the sizzle, get more people watching.

They continue to refer to Dede as “the moderate Republican” even though as Haley Barbour pointed out on one of their shows, she is demonstrably one of the left most politicians in local NY politics. They don’t need to refer to her as the socialist or fascist candidate the way we can here, but it is certainly more accurate to refer to her as “the liberal Republican candidate” or even “the progressive Republican candidate” if they believe the term ‘liberal’ has become too loaded.

Beck’s been going out of his way to emphasize that for his refounders, he wants only sources who are ratting out their own group. I understand this one as a tactical decision, and that one was probably made well before they started putting the pressure on, but the cumulative effect is still there. C.S. Lewis was probably not the only one to observe that the real moral struggle is usually stealing the first piece of candy, not the triple homicide at the end of the run.

And they aren’t alone. I still read the Washington Times, but they’ve been bending leftward too since Pruden left the helm. Tellingly, their circulation numbers are also starting to drop.
