use of S-Corp status to pay himself a salary of $30k, while pocketing millions of dollars at dividend tax rates (and no payroll taxes).

Tax laws clearly require that the persons be paid a salary at market rates. To be safe, most accountants recommend that dividends not exceed multiple X of the salary. I have never heard anyone advise a multiple of more than 3x.

John Edwards should have been sued for owing substantial sums of taxes, not a violation of unconstitutional campaign finance laws. This case shows how stupid (in addition to unconstitional) such laws are.

For the DOJ to bring charges on this bastardization of the 1st Amendment while ignoring the offensive misuse of tax provisions tells us precisely how screwed up DC really is.

This case never should have been brought, so I applaud in the same way that I would applaud for an extremely bad baseball game that just so happens to end the right way.

as the crook he is as well as Scrushy. People from both sides of the aisle in the state cheered the conviction. The fact that political motivation may have been the catalyst for the charges doesn't change the fact that he was rife with corruption and deserved every day he spent in jail.
