Chuckie Schumer signals that he knows that SCOTUS will vote to overturn Obamacare
By: gawken (Diary) | April 1st at 09:04 PM |
Friday afternoon, I posted a diary ( the link to which appears at the end of this one) wondering if Kagan would break with centuries of tradition, and leak to the WH the result of the justices’ vote on the Obamacare debate, before it is announced in JUne. I felt sure that she would do so. I also felt that other key Dems would of course | Read More »
Will Kagan leak the SCOTUS vote to the WH? ( but of course) Will the WH show that they’re about to lose? ( probably)
By: gawken (Diary) | March 30th at 01:31 PM |
The Justices may today begin their deliberations on the fate of Obamacare. Though it often takes them months to write the legal opinions, usually they move rapidly to vote on cases they have heard….often within days of oral arguments. From today’s Washington Post: “In a town where secrets are hard to keep, the Supreme Court is a striking outlier. The justices and their clerks know | Read More »
Hey, George Zimmerman..what are you gonna do now? How about running for Congress?
By: gawken (Diary) | March 28th at 03:13 PM |
Little thought has been given to the plight of George Zimmerman, the Neighborhood Watch volunteer who about half the country now wants to see arrested, tarred and feathered, tried, and drawn and quartered, and all before the end of the month. So what’s the guy to do? Can’t go to Disneyworld…he lives right around the corner, so it’s no big deal for him…and besides, the | Read More »
What Jesse Jackson REALLY thinks about Trayvon Martin ( well, sort of..)
By: gawken (Diary) | March 25th at 01:37 PM |
Jesse Jackson, as quoted in the NY Times on12/12/93, by Times columnist Bob Herbert ( who is also black): “Jesse Jackson is travelling the country with a tough anti-crime message that he is delivering to inner city youngsters. In Chicago, he said: ‘There is nothing more painful to me at this stage of my life than to walk down the street and hear footsteps and | Read More »
A modest suggestion for Mitt Romney’s campaign ads
By: gawken (Diary) | March 19th at 09:54 AM |
Mitt is NOT my preferred candidate, but if he is the nominee, he needs to do a much better job of telling the American people why they should vote for him. Telling people that you’re a businessman, a job creator, doesn’t get the point across, even though that is the one key distinction between Mitt and Santorum, Newt, and yes, obviously so, Obama. So why | Read More »
POTUS and SecDef publicly speculate about death penalty for Army Sgt, but nary a peep about Maj. Hassan, the Ft. Hood killer.
By: gawken (Diary) | March 14th at 01:47 PM |
Over the last few days, both President Obama and SecDef Panetta have felt the need to opine that the Army Sgt in custody for killing Afghani civilians could well face the death penalty for his crimes. Where’s the call for patience, the need to wait and let the investigation run its course. Why so eager to toss this soldier under the bus? Aside from possibly | Read More »
By calling Fluke, Obama elevates ( or is it “lowers?) Rush to his level
By: gawken (Diary) | March 3rd at 10:25 AM |
Opening today’s Tampa Bay Times ( formerly the St. Pete Times, aka the NY Times southern edition) I was suprised ( well, not really) to see the bottom of the FRONT page devoted to “Limbaugh’s language” ..replete with pics of El Rushbo and Ms. Fluke and quotes from both individuals. Obviously the left thinks they have an issue here, and Boehner’s quick fold suggests that, | Read More »
Smile, don’t grimace, when you fill up your car. Think of it as a weekly contribution to defeat Obama.
By: gawken (Diary) | February 28th at 10:28 AM |
As I write this, I have no idea who will be the GOP nominee. Indeed, my home, Tampa, may well be the center of the universe in a few months, if indeed we end up with a brokered convention. And as the GOP is again attempting to “snatch defeat from the jaws of victory,” we could see Obama re-elected. Except for…….the price of gas. National | Read More »
Well, I can console myself knowing that I can vote for Ann Romney over Michelle Obama this fall.
By: gawken (Diary) | January 31st at 08:37 PM |
Florida has spoken, and decisively, to my surprise. Newt and Rick will have to do some serious thinking about where they go next. But Ann Romney will be a gracious first lady, and a welcome change from Michelle Obama. And so, Ann gets my vote..
NO way Mitt wins FL: the base that picked Rubio over Crist won’t pick Mitt over Newt
By: gawken (Diary) | January 26th at 05:40 PM |
Ignore all those polls that show Mittens rising, and Newt dropping, and all this supposedly within a few days, and all just because the audience wasn’t allowed to applaud wildly at the NBC debate Monday night? You’ve got to be kidding. Newt wins Florida comfortably, by 10 pts, and possible more if Santorum withdraws. Can I remind all the pundits that it was not too long | Read More »
