In recent weeks, the healthcare debate has become increasingly heated, with both sides preparing to make an example of the final results. Republicans want to make Obama’s push for socialized Healthcare his “Waterloo”, and Democrats want to use it to reaffirm their constituent support, which has been waning as of late.
Lately, politicians have taken to holding townhalls on the Healthcare issue.
While one might be led to believe that these meetings are held to solicit public opinion, they are instead being used in feeble attempts to sway public opinion. So far, these endeavors have been met with comically disastrous results.
On April 3rd, Rep. Steve Kagen (D-WI) held a “Healthcare Listening Session.” As you might imagine, the conservatives in attendance were extremely uncivil. They took up their torches and pitchforks and with a rallying cry, ran through the town, flipped over cars and lit them afire, ending the night with a hostage situation.
Okay, I exaggerated just a little. But make no mistake, these people were downright vicious, and the Brown County Democrats say they will not rest until these “unruly radicals” are brought to justice:
This radical group came over two hours before the event took place to pack the auditorium and make sure no one who actually wanted to have debate or ask a legitimate question of the Congressman could.
They showed up Two. Hours. Early. How…radical. In this day and age, how do we tolerate people who show up early to get good seats?

Lest we forget, this is the same group of folks that regulary tries (and often succeeds) to punish people who work hard to get what they want in order to coddle those who do not.

What is the most effective way to protest at a townhall?

Personally, I think it’s more effective to do the latter. The former have their time and place, but I’m not if town halls are it.

ColdWarrior Tuesday, August 4th at 7:11PM EDT (link)I’ve been trying to tell the conservative “leaders” in the Republican Party, at all levels, that these Tea Parties and town hall gatherings are filled with conservative-thinking people who want to “do something” to change the political landscape and are demonstrating that desire by their activism. I met many, and heard many on the conservative talk radio programs, explain they’ve never been to a protest before in their lives but they simply believe they have to “do something” and going to a rally or to their congresscritter’s office is what they’ve come up with.
Bottom line: these are “target rich environments” for recruiting conservatve precinct committeemen for the upcoming 2010 election cycle and beyond.
I hope someone from the Party is going to these rallies and town hall meetings and handing out flyers inviting these good people to consider taking the next step to become a precinct committeeman.
Nationwide, about half of the precinct committeemen slots in the Party are open. We could cause a conservative revolution in we could get conservatives to fill those open slots. Go here for some detailed information:

2. Conservatives are still American citizens and town halls purporting to address American’s concerns on their god awful bill should not anticipate having nothing but scripted questions.
