New Mexico U.S. Sen. Udall supported the IRS going after conservative groups
By: Politix Fireball (Diary) | May 15th at 08:18 PM |
Seven Democratic senators on Monday urged the IRS to crack down on groups that organize as nonprofits only to engage in politics — an effort targeted at conservative groups they believe are abusing the law. Signing the letter were Sens. Chuck Schumer of New York, Michael Bennet of Colorado, Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island, Jeff Merkley of Oregon, Tom Udall of New Mexico, Jeanne Shaheen | Read More »

Who is Occupy New Mexico? Another anti-Zionist, anarchist, leftist…
By: Politix Fireball (Diary) | May 14th at 11:57 PM |
The New Mexico Democratic Party supports Occupy I have been acquainted with Occupy New Mexico for some time. The first time I heard of the movement was when the occupy movement started and I ran into an interesting piece which tied ONM to the Democrat Party of New Mexico. Granted there are many in the occupy movement who are not Democrats, but there are many | Read More »

Media Bias: The rationale behind the Santa Fe New Mexican’s censorship
By: Politix Fireball (Diary) | March 27th at 04:32 PM |
After this week’s blogposts about the Santa Fe New Mexican censoring me out of their article on social media and New Mexico’s 2013 legislative session. I finally have received answers which are half-satisfactory! Yesterday I explained here how the Occupy movement pestered Julie Ann Grimm after it was not included in the article, which likely had something to do with his/her lack of response to | Read More »

Media Bias: Santa Fe New Mexican writer taking orders from the left?
By: Politix Fireball (Diary) | March 26th at 01:42 PM |
After the Santa Fe New Mexican printed an article last week detailing the important role which social media played in the 2013 legislative session a nice edit job by the article’s author Julie Ann Grimm was made in the online edition on Tuesday afternoon (March 19). As can be seen here, the current edition does not include the paragraph below: Breaking the mold are the | Read More »

Media Bias: Why did Santa Fe New Mexican edit me out of their article on social media and the legislative session?
By: Politix Fireball (Diary) | March 25th at 12:32 PM |
Monday afternoon I received an email from a reporter of the Santa Fe New Mexican. The email read in part: I’m doing a story about the role of social media in the recent New Mexico legislative session and would like to interview the person in charge of your Twitter updates regarding NM. IF you are interested, please call me ASAP at (505) 986-3017. Thanks. Julie | Read More »

New Mexico Legislator Introduces New York Style ‘Assault Weapon’ Ban to House
By: Politix Fireball (Diary) | February 18th at 05:04 PM |
New Mexico Representative Stephen Easley (Democrat- Dist. 50) of Santa Fe has introduced a bill which is a ban on ‘assault rifles’ and high capacity magazine guns. If signed into law the this legislation would take affect beginning in July and would be very similar to legislation enacted in New York. The entire bill may be read below: No law shall abridge the right of the | Read More »

One Person, One Vote?
By: Politix Fireball (Diary) | November 18th at 07:38 PM |
In New Mexico all one must do to vote is show up at a polling place, verbally provide a name, address and year of birth. No photo ID, no voting card and no other form of ID is required. There is one instance when voter ID is required, but that is relatively rare. These loose laws provide a lot of room for accidents, mix-ups and | Read More »

Election Day Adventure
By: Politix Fireball (Diary) | November 14th at 11:54 AM |
In New Mexico we have not only election watchers and observers, but ‘challengers’ which are generally sent out from the county political party (Republican and Democratic Party’s respectively). Challengers have the power to speak with the election board supervisor, which is called Presiding Judge in NM, and can ‘challenge’ ballots and bring things to the polling place’s election board so they will deal with it. | Read More »

Voter Suppression in New Mexico
By: Politix Fireball (Diary) | November 13th at 11:58 AM |
Update: A reader brought to my attention an error. Sandoval County also had other polling places, but these VCCs were only for the city of Rio Rancho. Other counties listed in the VCC list had other precinct polling places as well. Rio Rancho: Election day our state had what would best be called a fiasco and massive voter suppression. Rio Rancho which is north of | Read More »

Youth and the Presidential Candidate Contrast
By: Politix Fireball (Diary) | October 2nd at 01:36 PM |
I run into people often who say that Obama is the ‘youth choice’ and he will be the better choice for our nation’s young voters. I find that odd enough…sure there was a lot of hype back in 2008, but many have seen reality now– for one thing they may be out of a job or under-employed! The unemployment rate for young adults 16 to | Read More »
