Opinion on healthcare bill


Recently I have been engaged in multiple discussions concerning the H.R. 3200 – America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009.  In this I will attempt to combine these separate discussions into this one article in hopes of being able to direct those who would wish to debate the issue to this post.

I will not begin by providing a biography or background of myself in order to shed light on the reasons behind my viewpoint of the health care bill.  My prior papers and articles should suffice to give an understanding as to the origin of the views made here.  I will say that I am not with any political party, and the Republican Party did not fund my research by paying for my internet connection or the electric bill to keep my computer running.  The anger that I harbor was only manufactured by those that would “fundamentally change America.” Therefore, on that point alone it may be correct in saying that my anger has been “manufactured.”


From communists to anarchists, communist/anarchist, and everything in between have debated their view of the new government health care bill with me.  I need to be the first to admit that I am not a medical practitioner, pharmaceutical, nor a lobbyist with education in any of these fields; however, I am a concerned citizen and that is all the credentials that I require to study and form an opinion of H.R. 3200.  I find it somewhat amusing how all those but the communist and communist/anarchist deny that this bill is fundamentally communist.


First, a short lesson in vocabulary according to the Webster dictionary:


1. communism – a : a theory advocating elimination of private property b : a system in which goods are owned in common and are available to all as needed
2. fascism – 1 : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition
2 : a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control
3. progressivism – 1 a : one that is progressive b : one believing in moderate political change and especially social improvement by governmental action
2 : a member of any of various U.S. political parties: as a : a member of a predominantly agrarian minor party that around 1912 split off from the Republicans\
4. jingoism – extreme chauvinism or nationalism marked especially by a belligerent foreign policy
5. totalitarianism – 1 : centralized control by an autocratic authority
2 : the political concept that the citizen should be totally subject to an absolute state authority
6. socialism – 1 : any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods
2 a : a system of society or group living in which there is no private property b : a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state
3 : a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done


I would say that we are certainly not 2, 4, or 5, but since the there has been an elimination of private property through the TARP program, and the people now owning a large portion of the automotive industry, and now apparently the people will all have the goods of healthcare services I would say that we lean more towards number 1 than number 3, and number 6 is probably more accurate.  We can debate all the live long day as to terminologies; however, for the sake of the argument here I have settled on communism.  You will excuse me for not capitalizing any of these forms of ideologies.  Since I have neither respect nor tolerance for any of these I do not see it befitting to give their names capitalizations.


Personally, I find the entire Health Care bill unconstitutional and anti-American.  I have been asked to point which parts of the bill that fall under the description of this, and my response to this is ALL of it. However, I have spent a great deal of time looking over this bill before a dear friend directed me to a link where this work has already been done for me.  http://bit.ly/b8qWq  It does aid me in pointing out some of the sections in the bill that would fall under the definition of unconstitutional.  Although I do not agree with every aspect of their summary it does seem solid in fact and opinion.


I don’t believe that anyone that has decided to support this bill will even afford themselves the opportunity to read it or consider it unconstitutional.  However, if one were to look at section 123, pg 30 there will be a HEALTH BENEFITS ADVISORY COMMITTEE they would find that this committee will be made up of 26 “medical and other experts,” 17 of which will be appointed by the president while the remaining nine will be appointed by the Comptroller General of the United States, an appointee of the President of the United States.  Therefore, the President will be indirectly appointing all members of the committee that will each serve a staggered term of 3 years and are not held accountable to anyone, but perhaps the President.  This committee will set the health benefit standards upon which your coverage will be based. Is it a Constitutional mandate that the government chooses our medical coverage?

Section 142, pg 42 After reading the ENTIRE section there can be no argument made to the contrary that the Health Choices Commissioner has full authority to force you onto the plan that has been selected for you, by inflicting monetary penalties, “in addition to any other remedies authorized by law!” What other “remedies” has been authorized and by what law??  Where is it in the Constitution that the government has the authority to penalize me for not wanting their plan? Tax my income for not joining a plan that a commissioner has appointed to me and my family as so stated in Section. 401.59B? I think not.
Section 1173A Standardize Electronic Admin. Transactions.  Subsection 2(D) enable the real-time (or near real-time) determination of an individual’s financial responsibility at the point of service and, to the extent possible, prior to service, including whether the individual is eligible for a specific service with a specific physician at a specific facility, which may include utilization of a machine-readable health plan beneficiary identification card.”  I already carry a V.A. Medical card so the i.d. card doesn’t bother me so much, but why should the Federal government have access to my medical records and bank account as so stated in Subsection 4 (E) “require the use of a standard electronic transaction with which health care providers may quickly and efficiently enroll with a health plan to conduct the other electronic transactions provided for in this part.”  One in favor of the bill would simply argue that it is to help pay for the services.  Perhaps King George would have done the same if he were afforded the opportunity.
How does the government claim the right to tell doctors what they may earn as stated in Section 1121, subsection 2(c) Target Growth Rate Computation to Services Covered Under Physician Fee Schedule.  The government is already doing this with CEO’s salaries where companies accepted government funds from TARP, and now they are going to do this again with our physicians.  This is another blatant disregard for the free trade system established in our Constitution; however, proponents of this bill would debate otherwise.
Section 1122 (ii) “COMPONENTS AND ELEMENTS OF WORK- The process described in clause (i) may include validation of work elements (such as time, mental effort and professional judgment, technical skill and physical effort, and stress due to risk) involved with furnishing a service and may include validation of the pre, post, and intra-service components of work.”  In other words the “Secretary” gets to look into the services that would provided to you and determine if you are worth the money, time, or effort to render you the services.
Again, the people as a whole own the goods and services that will be provided = communism.  How then can this bill be viewed as anything but in accord with the communist form of government?  This of course equates to anti-American and anti-Constitution.  Nowhere in the Constitution is there granted a right for the Federal government to take over the healthcare industry.
I could continue, but it is the same pattern throughout the bill. One must chase different sections that they lead you to in an attempt to hide what the bill actually does – give the government more power.  I am not calling all who want healthcare reform communist.  I myself would like to see things improve; however a simple three sentence bill lifting current government restrictions on healthcare would then allow the free trade system to fix the problems.  The Federal government would have you believe that the system is in disarray, and this is simply not true.  Can anyone name someone that has been turned down if they were to show up at an emergency room for treatment?  I personally know people who received medicines from pharmaceuticals when they could not afford it, but the pharmaceuticals are painted as evil, rich, capitalists.  Our system is not perfect, but it is not in such disarray that warrants the Federal government to take over.

Morality is vital to the continuance of a free nation


In 1787, the year our nation’s constitution was written and approved by Congress, this same Congress passed the Northwest Ordinance. This Ordinance stressed the importance of religion and morals to be taught in schools, saying in Article 3:

Religion, morality, and knowledge being necessary to good government and the happiness of mankind, schools and the means of education shall forever be encouraged. (George B. de Huszar, Henry W. Littlefield, and Arthur W. Littlefield, eds., Basic American Documents [Ames, Iowa: Littlefield, Adams & Co., 1953], p. 66)

Notice that formal education was to include among the responsibilities the teaching of three important subjects:

1. Religion, which might be defined as a “fundamental system of beliefs concerning man’s origin and relationship to the cosmic universe as well as his relationship with his fellowmen.”

2. Morality, which may be described as “a standard of behavior distinguishing right from wrong.”

3. Knowledge, which is “an intellectual awareness and understanding of established facts relating to any field of human experience or inquiry (i.e., history, geography, science, etc.).” (W. These inexorable truths combined make up a fundamental principle upon which our nation was founded. That principle, Religious Morality, is necessary to the freedom of our nation and the maintenance of good government.

WAYNE COUNTY REPUBLICAN EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE PASSES RESOLUTION

With strong support, the Wayne County Republican Executive Committee voted in favor of a resolution last evening by a vote of 6 to 1 after a passionate debate during their monthly meeting. The resolution, proposed by one of the members of the committee, was tabled at a prior meeting for further review as to not rush a vote without further consideration. This resolution reaffirms the position of the Wayne County Committee of which the Republican Party was founded upon, but has moved away from in recent years. The GOP has left its foundation of conservatism and away from the nation’s founding principles. Voters have been forced out of the Party or left with no other option but to vote for candidates within other Parties who hold more closely to their own faith and political standpoints.
Now that the resolution has been implemented the Wayne County Republican Committee will begin an aggressive campaign to bring communities together and promote candidates that uphold the beliefs of the people of Wayne County, the State of West Virginia, and the United States of America.

Proposed Resolution


The following is a resolution that I proposed at our last committee meeting.  It was tabled so that one individual could read it before we voted to adopt it.  Out of the several that usually come to the monthly meetings, this one individual is the only voting member that is against adopting it.

Title of Resolution: Resolution to adhere to Religious values, American principles and conservative beliefs.

Purpose: We, the Wayne County Republican Executive Committee of West Virginia, do hereby resolve to stand firm in the teachings of All Mighty God, to the principles set forth in our U.S. Constitution by our nation’s founding fathers, adhere to the laws of the Constitution of West Virginia, and rise to the protection and defense of these.

Description:

Religion, along with our U.S. Constitution and America’s fundamental values and principles, have come under fire and are falling prey to socialism.

Republicans, Democrats, and Independents are no longer any different from one to the other. They bicker and gripe at the other while in the public eye, but behind closed doors they smack each other on the backs in recognition for their socialist ingenuity. Most who call themselves “conservatives” or “Republicans” have taken the Republican Party down a path where most true Americans cannot follow. This path has left the people with few choices as candidates for elected office, and individuals currently in these offices are not in public service for the good of our nation or the good of the people, but for their own self-righteousness and personal fulfillment. Our nation’s leaders aren’t going about the people’s business, or staying attuned to their constituency. These “leaders” are busying themselves by furthering socialist agendas and rewriting the U.S. Constitution through legislation, all the while finding new ways to secure their power in elected office. Our State leaders, though seemingly more conservative than those at the national level, are still playing a game of power politics, political correctness, cronyism, and self-elevation. These problems are not contained only in the executive and legislative branches of our government, but bleeds out into our judicial branches as well. Here in our State, as well as nationally, there has been an increased presence of activist judges overstepping their authority by legislating from the bench. Their findings on court cases are not anchored in the State or U.S. Constitutions, but in their own ideologies of socialism and justified through the policies of foreign nations.

Ours is no longer a debate of Conservatism versus Liberal. It is, however, a debate of Liberty versus Socialism. We, as a people, can no longer afford to blindly follow the Republican political party in name only. We must now resolve to stand strong to the principles and values that we all hold dear, especially in a time when our government has abandoned them.

We must now be resolute in the stand against an already socialist and would-be tyrannical form of government if they are left unchecked. Therefore, this Resolution, if passed, will in effect send a message across the State of West Virginia, that we, the people of the Wayne County Republican Executive Committee of West Virginia will no longer tolerate the current practices of government within our State or nation. We will aggressively seek a way to remove all those who willfully and purposely try to tear down the rights of Liberty afforded us by the grace of God, through our Constitution.

This Resolution will make it abundantly clear that we, the people of the Wayne County Republican Executive Committee of West Virginia, will not simply lay down our religious beliefs, values, and principles so that we can peacefully blend into the status quo of the Republican Party. We will promote a government “for the people, by the people” and do our part to turn our State and our Nation’s eyes once again to the leadership of Divine Providence. So help us God.


Union Attacks


I have just received an unconfirmed report of what can only be described as “union attacks.”  These attacks are described as two or three bus loads of individuals coming into a large retail corporation’s store chain, within the Ohio Valley region, and turning over racks and shelves of merchandise in order to intimidate the employees into voting for a measure that would permanently embed the union into the retail giant.  This comes at a time, less than six weeks, when our U.S. Congress is set to vote on a bill, “Secret Ballot Protection Act” (deceptive name ain’t it?), that will take the right away from American workers to vote by a secret ballot.  The bill will enable this and other unions to see which workers voted against the measure and then show those workers some “special attention.”  The stores are holding management meetings to prepare their people for the “attacks” if they were to happen.

This will ultimately do the same for this company as it did for the American auto industry.  The products’ prices will increase to compensate for the increase in employee pay and benefits, driving people to patronize other businesses to obtain the goods or services they require.  The government will then step in declaring the retail corporation “too big to fail.”  They will then bail out the company retaining a controlling interest in the company while keeping the union in place.  This would effectively begin the first stages of nationalized retail.

Putting words into actions


Where to begin…..If anyone actually read my first post you will understand me when I say that I am actually acting upon what I have said instead of simply shouting out my frustrations. I have become a voting member of my county’s Republican committee and have just attended the West Virginia State Republican Committee’s Winter meeting that was held just this past Saturday. Not only did I get to rub elbows with several political figures I got a lot of good information as well.

Recently I introduced a proposal for a better website to the county committee. The current website allowed us to keep a presence on the web, but had pop ups and didn’t get the traffic that it should. I was asked to be a part of a sub-committee along with another of the other committee members to create a new website. I haven’t ever created a website before, but have just published our new site at www.waynecountygop.org. This is going to be an ongoing work in progress; as my knowledge with such things grows so will the development of the site. I would appreciate any suggestions; just send them to (webmaster@waynecountygop.org).

Part of where I’m going with this is that during the Chairman’s portion of the meeting, where I held the proxy for our chairman, I learned that our state committee offers technology based training to help get those up to speed with websites, video conferencing, and so on. I would suggest to anyone that may find themselves in the same position as I might contact your state level committee and see if they offer any of the training and/or ideas that would assist in getting you up to speed. I have already contacted our tech guy and look forward to any information that he has to offer.

Since I began attending the county meetings we have started having two meetings a month instead of just the one. It seems that now that we have ideas and plans that one meeting a month isn’t enough to keep the level of motivation going for those plans. I can only hope that the level of motivation holds out and we can reclaim our party and our country from a grass roots level.

Tonight I will be attending the second monthly meeting to discuss the progress since the meeting from a couple of weeks ago. As what I am involved in, much has been accomplished, and I have at least three more proposals to make to the committee to add to the growing list of things that we need to work on. We must not relent or cease pushing back the onslaught of socialism now plaguing our nation. I for one have resolved to Hold the line!


Hypocrites!


Even within the members of my own family do I find that hypocrisy runs rampant when it comes to standing up for what we believe.  We’ve all heard of the “fair weather protesters”, those who will demonstrate against various issues but only so long as the weather cooperates.  Such is the case, in a manner of speaking, when it comes to standing up for what you and/or I believe in by simply not taking part in something, banning something, or perhaps simply voting against something.  The “fair weather” part of this is the interference that standing up for or against something will cause in one’s daily routine of their existence.

A couple of years ago certain retailers chose not to promote Christmas, and to promote the homosexual agenda instead.  In return I, along with a number of others, chose not to spend our money at those retailers.  When I approached my family with this they decided that it wasn’t going to hurt for them to shop at these stores, but they would sit and condemn these retailers in the company of others.  They decided that it was too much of an interference on their lives to find someplace else to shop.  “What will you do when they all decide to do that” they would ask.  As a result of the vast numbers of dollars being lost by these retail outlets they decided to resend their decision and stay neutral in political issues.

Last December McDonald’s Corporation decided to begin supporting the homosexual agenda, and again I with a vast majority of people chose not to give them our business.  As a result they said that they will not renew their membership for this coming year in the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC).  During the course of this year my family’s argument for their continued patronage of the McDonald’s foodchain was that their “measly dollar isn’t going to help or hurt anyone. What will you do when they all decide to do that” they would ask.  I wonder how many “measly” dollars they spent over the year, multiplied by all the other “measly” dollars of people  who share the same opinion.

Now, PepsiCo. is up to the same tricks.  Apparently they haven’t learned from the mistakes of the others.  And I have chose not to give any business to Pepsi.  My family, just tonight, as we spend New Year’s Eve together as we always do, could have went a block more to a place that sales Coke products, but that would have put them out too much.  They chose instead to make the argument that “it won’t hurt to drink a bottle of Pepsi ever once in a while.  What will you do when they all decide to do that” they would ask.

This time I choose to call HYPOCRITE! on them all, and to all of those who give lip service to their beliefs but won’t make nary a sacrifice in support of them.  Heaven forbid that you go without your precious BigMac and opt for a Whopper instead.  Oh, the untold horrors of having to drink something other than your sacred Pepsi! Let’s not pass up that great sale their having down at that retail outlet either – probably on a case of Pepsi!  I have a question for all of you so-called Christians out there – hypothetically speaking, not that it could EVER happen, but what will you do when after none of you has stood up against the evils of this world (because it was too much of a sacrafice) that they start forcing these things upon us?  I mean realy force them as to make it illegal to oppose any of it.  That could never happen, right? WRONG!  It’s happening now, but the hipocrites can’t see past their own self rightousness.  Don’t lift a finger, I wouldn’t want you to put yourselves out or anything.  I understand that it may be too much of a strain on you to do the right thing!  It’s okay though, I guess you can go to the altar and ask forgiveness because none of us are perfect right?  Or perhaps tithing will be enough to let you sleep at night.  Maybe just going to your father confessor or pastor will take care of that nagging little conscience.  Whatever it is that you’ve been doing just keep right on doing it.  But, it seems that I read someplace where it said “by their fruits ye shall know them” or something like that.  Where did I read that….I wonder.


Bailout Update


In my previous post I said that I hadn’t heard any senator say that they were against this bill because it wasn’t the role of government.  I would like to say that I just heard Senator Jim DeMint state this very thing.  Thank you Senator, thank you for standing by true American ideals.

Bailout Fails in Senate


Major victory!! It is needless to say that I am pleased with this outcome; however, nowhere, NOWHERE, have I heard or read where the bailout failed because it is unconstitutional! Surely, I am not the only one that has noticed this? Are there any senators that voted against the bill due to the fact that it’s a socialist measure?? If so, I haven’t heard any of them say so. I keep telling myself that in order to get anything done in Washington you have to play the game of politics. Perhaps in doing so, those that opposed the bill had to make arguments that did not fall upon the deaf ears of the Democratics.

If it sounds as if I am unappreciative let me attest that I am not, and I commend the senators that voted against this bill. I execrate that we live in a day wherein a bill such as this is even considered where it should have failed due to its own bad merit of being un-American. Instead this bill failed due to Republicans not getting the accountability for the automakers that they wanted.

Again, this is a great victory, but I’m sure we haven’t heard that last of this bill. We have to keep calling our senators and congressmen and urge them to stand against the later incarnations of this bailout, and any others of a similar nature that is sure to come in the near future.

I thank all of those in the House of Representatives and in the Senate, on behalf of Liberty, who voted against this bill.

During this past year and a half my family and I have been through quite a lot.  Scripture teaches us that the Lord will put no more on us than our hearts can bear.  I trust and believe in that, and have faith that that is true.  But what I have lost faith in is our government.  And what I don’t think my heart can handle is our loss of Liberty.  Knowing what the scripture teaches, and having faith in the scriptures I have to also believe that HE will give us the desires of our hearts.  It seems that the desires of the hearts of man are now to turn this country away towards a socialist state where true Liberty does not exist.  Tyranny has returned to the shores of America, not by the king of England, but by the would-be kings and queens of the socialist movement in the United States.  And we thought one king was difficult to beat!

Some years back the church that I attended went through a split.  There were individuals that didn’t like the rules on which the church was founded and set out to change things more to their liking.  Those that would fight the changes were removed from the membership of the church by these individuals.  They wanted to change everything and blatantly disregarded everything that was in the Rules of Decorum that had been established in the late 1830’s.  Essentially, the church’s constitution, if you will, became no better than the paper which it was printed on.  I ended up leaving a church that I had been attending my entire life.  Both sides of my family attended the church for generations (it was just a small country church for the most part), these other people I barely knew had only began attending the church sometime during the few years I was away serving my country.  That particular church has since become a gathering of very few members leaving only those individuals that sought the change.  In fact, most of those have left to other churches as well.  In short they turned away from the intended existence of the church and sought their own gains, and set out to achieve their own ambitions.

If you don’t see where I’m going with that story I’ll explain.  From the first settlers of the New World and long after the ratification of the U.S. Constitution, the men and women that believed in this country has fought and died for what this country stands for.  Although not everyone agreed with everything that is written in the Constitution they stood by this document, and some gave their life protecting it and the ideals that it contains.  They, we, I have been here for generations.  I have ancestors that fought in EVERY war of this nation.  And now, after we have served our country, after many have died defending her, socialists come in and wish to blatantly disregard EVERYTHING that our Constitution stands for so that they can change all that we know into what they wish it to be. They seek their own gains and place their own ambitions over the good of the nation.

I feel helpless watching events unfold around me.  I look at my children and am saddened when I think of their futures.  What kind of America will we live in?

So, therefore, I am reminded of the writings of Thomas Paine – “THESE are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as FREEDOM should not be highly rated. “ – The Crisis December 23, 1776

So much of what he wrote is applicable to the events of today.

Therefore, I plead with you, the reader, that you take at least some small effort to preserve Freedom, for if there be many that act then the smallest of efforts is great indeed.

I also ask that you pray for our nation’s leaders.  Our country is headed for a dangerous place and we should look to our God and crave his blessings with all supplication that he blesses our leaders and guides their decisions.

One more step for bailouts, one gigantic leap towards socialism


It occurs to me that the current bailouts are nothing more than power plays on the part of our elected officials.  With the bailout of AIG did the federal government not get an ownership stake of up to 80%?  The “lending crisis” is turning out to be just another non-crisis.  West Virginia’s home sells are much higher than national average and foreclosures are nearly non-existent.  This is in contradiction to what we have been told.  People are still spending money on items they don’t need, much of it placed onto credit cards.  The majority of new products fall within the category of “green” products that cost more and do less.  Talk about a non-crisis!  But I digress.  Now even the banks are asking “what lending crisis?”

I heard this morning that the bailout of the auto industry will more than likely come with partial ownership – again by the federal government.  I spoke out against the $700 billion bailout that was so heavily impressed upon us as necessary to save our economy in a crisis situation.  No one listened. The government, for all intents and purposes, becomes an investor in the companies that they bailout.  It was said that this money is to be repaid back to the government over time, but I haven’t come across any information that relieves the government from their partial ownership stakes after said money is repaid.

Look, I don’t know a lot because I’m just a nobody citizen that tries to keep my finger on the pulse of the issues of my time.  But I don’t believe the any power that has been given to the government has EVER been returned to the people.  If we do what is best for our country then we would allow the companies that make bad business decisions to fail.  This was known to our founding fathers as “free trade.”  If the government takes an investment role within the companies which it bails out then it will create a conflict of interests.  Will future legislation reflect good reasoning and sound logic, or will it be more catered to the government’s own special interests? The government can then dictate what products, goods, and services are to be produced and/or rendered from the companies in which they hold an interest.  This isn’t black helicopters folks, this is socialism!

Concerning the auto manufacturer’s requests for another bailout; why not let them fail?  Thousands of people out of work?  I doubt that would last very long.  Through capitalism, a company will see an opportunity to step up and fill the supply and demand gap that would supposedly exist.  This would provide jobs for a large number of the now out of work auto workers.  Retirees won’t get their pension/retirement money?  If the manufacturers are permitted to file bankruptcy (yes I said “permitted”) then they would be restructured.  Nancy Pelosi has said that bankruptcy was not an option.  I doubt that bankruptcy and reorganization would cut out the retirees, mainly because that would be bad PR, but because they do have an obligation to those retirees.

Besides all of this, why aren’t there more people about a possible buyout or a merger.  That would alleviate the majority of the issues that they are facing for immediate financing.  Their issues with the UAW will have to be resolved as well before they can start turning a profit.

As I have said, I’m simply a nobody that tries to keep up with what’s going on.  I’m not a financial advisor, bank executive, or even a CPA, but I know that socialism is not the path that our founding fathers intended for us go down.  Our elected officials don’t seem to represent their constituencies anymore, but perhaps if enough of us call our representatives and tell them where we stand they will at least know how we feel about it.

State of the nation

At one time or another most all of us have been guilty of it. We have sat back and allowed events to take place around us, either because we didn’t concern ourselves with the event or we didn’t believe that we could prevent it from taking place. I have often times done that exact thing – nothing!! Let me introduce myself. My name is Glendon Watts, and I have been doing little more than vote in elections since I was old enough to cast my first vote. I proudly served my country in the army during the mid-90’s. As clichéd as it sounds, I enlisted so that I could in some small way earn a little of the freedoms that have been afforded me. Due to medical reasons I wasn’t able to continue my service and wish that I could have done more to help “purchase” freedom for future generations. My heroes have all been patriotic and iconic, and have unfortunately, passed into the annals of history, all but one. It is that one that I would like to speak mostly about. She has been an influence in most of our lives since birth; teaching me and all those who love her how to stand up for our political and religious beliefs, rights, and values. From her we have learned to hold our heads high and be proud of our country, our heritage, and of ourselves. She has watched over us to see that we grow in relative safety and has afforded us every opportunity to pursue our happiness. Those who don’t know her yearn for her presence; so that they too can find happiness and experience the same opportunities. I am of course speaking of that great lady we know as Liberty.

In the past score of years Liberty has become weakened from the constant onslaught of Marxism, socialism, radical liberalism, and intentional ignorance. We, as a people, are failing our great Lady by allowing our government to grow into more than what our U.S. Constitution defines. I know and understand the fundamental difference between Democrat and Republican, but in the times in which we live these terms have become irrelevant. Socialism and Liberty/Capitalism are now the two philosophies of an ongoing tug of war in our nation where the greatest loser would be Liberty.

Karl Marx wrote “Just as capitalism replaced feudalism, capitalism itself will be displaced by communism, a classless society which emerges after a transitional period—socialism—in which the state would be nothing else but the revolutionary dictatorship of the proletariat” 1

To continue down the road on which we find our nation heading will do little more than to achieve the goals that have been laid out as a blueprint by a man that opposed a way of life that he had never experienced. This would lay to waste the very ideals and achievements that our founding fathers brought forth and scribed into a single document that gave birth to a new nation. Later these ideals were formed into our Constitution that socialists and Marxists have been whittling away at for years. As few in number that they are they have caused much damage; however, they are not fully to blame. We who love Liberty, but yet do not stand to defend her, share the burden of guilt equally as those who seek to destroy her. For as long as we only stand up and shout at televisions, radios, and newspapers. As long as we gripe to our closest friends and families of similar viewpoints as ours, we are no better than they who would tear down our country. No matter how angry or frustrated we get, unless we focus that anger and frustration into motivation to change the course upon which we find ourselves we will be doing nothing more than getting out of the way of the socialist/communist movement in this country! How far will we allow this government to take us before enough of us wake up?

If you are reading this then you have at least realized the importance of issues of our time. But then I’m essentially preaching to the choir. We need to awaken all those who love Liberty, and motivate them, and inspire them. Allow them to see for themselves that these issues aren’t Republican or Democrat, or even liberal or conservative. These are American issues that affect all those who claim to be American. We are at risk of losing Lady Liberty if we continue to allow people into office with socialist viewpoints and agendas. I believe that we the people of this nation get what we deserve. If we elect socialists then we deserve what the socialists will give us. Likewise, if we elect those led by divine providence we then also get what we deserve. But that’s an entry for another time.
