Not a right wing nut, but a true Catholic

In another member’s diary, there was a thought provoking writing on communion for pro-abortion supporters as well as taxpayer funding of abortion. My apologies to the author, but I can’t find the link.

In any case, there was an article today about a South Carolina priest telling his congregation that those voting for Obama needed to seek confession and pennance for their vote before receiving communion. In my response to the above mentioned member diary, I suggested that it shouldn’t be an issue of communion, but such acts could and should result in excommunication.

I don’t believe that neither the SC priest nor myself are right wing nut jobs. I believe in strict adherence to Catholic doctrine and the duty of all of us to follow the teachings of Jesus, and the perpetuated word of God as spoken through the Pope. The likes of Biden, Pelosi, and Kerry are NOT Catholics. Not only do they push aside their stated sacrements of baptism and confirmation, but they hold themselves out as a higher authority and they are somehow more capable of dictating Christian principals than the decendants of St. Peter.

No, we’re not nuts. We understand, embrace, and rejoice in our Catholic faith. We appreciate the sacrifice of those that have served as mouthpieces for the word of God, and we are not Catholics of convienence.

Biden, Pelosi, Kerry, and any other self proclaimed Catholics that unrepentently support abortion and the taking of innocent life should immediately be excommunicated. And yes Father, I agree, a vote in their support requires pennence.

Finally, one more rant, HUSSEIN, HUSSEIN, HUSSEIN!! It’s his middle name, and why is it such a problem to use it?

Our new leadership, and I for one am excited

I had the good fortune of meeting Governer Jindal when he was the Lt. Governor of Louisiana. I also met him once as congressman. I’m sure he doesn’t remember me, but I remember him as someone, that upon hearing him speak, reminded me of what our party is all about. Have a listen here.

I’m really looking forward to 2012.

Also, this is also worth watching for a laugh.

Quietly confident, and at peace

For me at least, this marks the last day of this presidential campaign. All that is left for me is to go vote. I’m feeling pretty good I must admit. I made quite a few phone calls on behalf of McCain/Palin, I went door to door, put up yard signs, and most importantly I got a first time voter to register and have made arrangements for them to vote in the morning. All in all, I’m happy with my efforts.

At the same time, I’m not letting anything get me down. I don’t believe an Obama +10 poll just as much as I wouldn’t believe a McCain +10 poll. I do, however, believe in the American people like myself who work hard every day in the hopes for a better life for their children. We don’t believe government hand outs work, and are quite willing to say “no thanks” even if it’s offerred. I teach my children that hard work and commitment pays off whether it’s our chosen career, faith, or politics.

I believe in the people in places like Ohio and Pennsylvania, and yes, California. I’m confident that we, like our mothers and fathers, will make the right decision.

I’m happy I was able to read thought provoking posts hear, and allowing me to offer my two cents from time to time. Thank you RedState!

Zogby Let’s Me Exhale

Zogby moves to McCain -2.7%. More important to me at least is the trend line. That now consistant direction is very telling!

Our biggest asset

Obama has a huge cash advantage. He’s on TV everywhere (as an aside, can someone get that communist off my Military Channel? Who’s he going after? The veterans that hate veterans vote?). And yes, a minor lead by my estimates. But he doesn’t have the swagger a self serving, over confident, an egomaniac should have. He tells his supports not to “underestimate our ability to screw this up”, but he’s really saying don’t underestimate the passion of clear thinking people to not vote for him.

And this really is our biggest asset. We are a sensible, yet passionate bunch. We believe in liberty and freedom. Freedom to succeed, as well as the opposing freedom to fail sometimes when we try. But we never give up, and certainly never consider giving in.

Now John McCain was not my first choice. He probably wasn’t even my third. But Barrak Obama was someonewhere between satan and a constitutional ammendment giving Clinton a third term. We all know the tailspin Obama would send our country into, and we are not about to go quietly into the night. He knows this. This is why there is an endless effort to get us to give up.

If I may be so bold, I invite all of you here to go to McCain’s website and sign up. If you’re like me, you’re out of contribution money. But we can all find a little time. Make calls, volunteer on election day, do whatever you can do to keep Obama away.

Obama, Pelosi, and the MSM fear us. It’s time to justify those fears and not sit on the bench with our heads in our hands.

Polls and Independants

This is more of an invitation than a statement, so input would certainly be appreciated. Zogby is showing a growing lead by Obama among independants, while McCain’s lead among military families and Catholics are basically non-existant.

Now I know of the arguements of independants not really being independants when it comes to these polls. But the other indicators in his poll just seem really, REALLY wrong to me. If this were a moderate, or even somewhat moderate democrat I might buy into this. I may even believe it if it were Hillary. But I’ve always seen Zogby as one of the better polls, and something doesn’t seem at all right here.

One idea is that the dynamics of this race doesn’t lend itself to traditional polling methods. This would on the surface explain things.

I’m sorry if this topic has been previously covered, but any input would be appreciated.

Suddenly, I feel the wind change…slightly

It’s one of those things you can’t quite put your finger on, but you can just tell something is different. I have a few ideas about this, and it is my diary, so I’ll pontificate.

Fear and anger over the current global economic meltdown is growing by the minute. While the root cause will probably be determined many years from now, the current fire is Fannie/Freddie, coupled with the fat investment firms. This may not prove to be the root cause, but for now it’s the sight of very well placed anger. American’s retirement plans are telling them to keep their job until they’re ohhh…106 years old right about now, and their pissed. Really pissed! I know, I’m one of them.

Did anyone see the video from the McCain Wisconsin campaign stop? It was practically a mob seen. It’s no wonder! Americans are angry, Democrats and Republicans alike. But this seems to be manifesting more in Republicans. Consider the following:

  • Ayers
  • Wright
  • Acorn
  • Fannie/Freddie
  • Muslim Outreach (what the hell is that?) on NBC no less
  • Kenya
  • Socialist
  • No American flag lapel pin
  • American flag taken off the tail of his plane
  • A wife that starting being proud of her country when it benefitted her husband

The water is building behind the damn, and it’s about to bring it down. It just needs a little push.

Senator McCain, don’t hush the voices you heard in Wisconsin, for they are also my voice. Don’t speak of reaching accross aisle, speak of reaching out to the victims. Yes Senator, we are victims. Our retirements are gone, our savings to open a small business is now not enough to shop at a small business, and we are getting Senator Obama forced on us by the elite that don’t have such real concerns. We can live with the pain, and we will recover, but we cannot live with those responsible getting a pass. The one thing you can do to save us is to stand up and fight for us. Tell all those who will listen that anyone, ANYONE who had a hand in this will be investigated and prosecuted. Regardless of party affiliation, wealth, or position held, those that stole our future will certainly lose theirs.

Senator McCain, if you cannot stand up for us now, than you sir do not deserve the offie you seek. The winds are changing, the captain is the only one that can raise the sail.

More McCain possibility thoughts

I was giving some serious thought to Dick Morris’ idea that Obama may have peaked too soon. I’ve heard this argument in previous elections and have usually dismissed them. But Dick’s article has caused me to have a look at this idea in a different light. Obama has, in my humble opinion, peaked as far as any significant gain in support. I don’t believe he’s going to get any new real support. What’s left of the true undecideds are looking for a reason to vote McCain, or stay home (I believe this would be true regardless of who is trailing at this point in the election).

If this is true, Obama has peaked. Now consider the shrinking attention span of the U.S. voter. It’s not our fault really, it’s the seemingly endless information thown at us. We move on pretty quickly. I work in an environment where the public parades past me all day every day. It’s amazing how quickly the topic of the bail out is over, even though the money has not even been distributed yet! If McCain can consistently change the subject over the next few weeks, these will become the new issues. Acorn will be the next story, I can already see where this one is heading.

Dick Morris has this idea that voters will give Obama a second look because is the presumed winner. This might be true, but I also believe that Obama has gotten all of the votes he’s going to get (unless McCain gives any away), and the very topics that gave him his lead are literally yesterday’s news. John McCain can, should, and will push the next topic of discussions (again, Acorn).

By my estimates, our attention span is 10 days. That’s the appropriate time to peak. Not 4 weeks.

Wondering about the economy issue

I’m watching a few of the polls tighten, as one would expect as the end draws near. Most of what I read seems to attribute this to the VP debate or attack ads. I have a different theory. As we watch the financial crunch spread accross the entire globe, it becomes clear that this is much more than a U.S. issue.

Suppose for a minute that some voters start to see this as a more global issue, and as such, one that neither presidential candidate will have an immediate solution. If this is the case, than this is a pretty significant issue in the Obama column that becomes a bit moot.

If it’s perceived that the president of the U.S. will not solve the problem on their own, and we’re in this one for the long haul regardless of who holds the office, than the entire issue becomes a wash.

I certainly welcome any comment on this theory. It’s based on my own experience and how I see this issue, so it’s nothing more than an observation. However if true it could fly in the face of the notion that as this worsens, it benefits Obama. Initially this might be true, but it could get so bad that it outgrows Obama, and the more experienced candidate could look more attractive.
