Wary of Dems stealing MN Senate race

GOP better be ready to play hardball

I’ve been reading some blog quotes and some online news reports about Minnesota’s tight U.S. Senate race between Coleman and Franken.

It seems that the recount will take 2 weeks to set up, which leads me to be very concerned of WHY it takes 2 weeks to recount ballots and WHAT ‘surprise’ ballots that ACORN and other liberal operatives can come up with between now and then.

The national GOP did NOTHING when the WA Governorship was stolen from Dino Rossi in 2004. It was yet another moment of shame for me (then a member of the Republican Party), that my party leaders let something like this happen.

Will the GOP allow a senate seat to be stolen right in front of them like they allowed Democrats to find ‘missing ballots’ (my a**) and take away a win for Dino Rossi?

We shall see. It will be the first test of whether the GOP has learned to fight or if surrender is the only mode they know.

Keep a watchful eye out!

Our turn to be mean, nasty and obstructionist

Filibustering Obama judges and nominees

Get on the phones and call your GOP Senator or Representative. Tell them it’s our turn now.

It’s our turn to be as obstructionist as possible.

Time to lock up legistlation in committees. Time to filibuster judicial nominees. Time to say we can’t accept nominees who aren’t ‘consensus’ nonminees. Time to act like 5-year-olds and have a member of the Senate show up during recesses to keep business going so President Obama can’t make a recess appointment. Time to be mean, unflinching, nasty.

Two can play this game.

Dems, with the support of radical far-left 527s and interest groups, have done everything to derail our agenda and hurt our president. Time for the medicine to be spooned out to them.

Does the GOP have the guts? They had d* well better!

My advice to the GOP – 1. Ditch moderates (traitors) to the cause like McCain and Graham. Next time they stab their party in the back, the RNC needs to cut off their funding and re-election cash. They need to be shunned and removed from any committee post. 2. Filibuster, filibuster, filibuster, filibuster, filibuster, filibuster and when all else fails, filibuster. 3. Oppose EVERY single appointee that Obama sends down. Call them ‘out of the mainstream’ and slow-walk any confirmations in committee. 4. Get a House and Senate minority leader with some grapes who will use every proceedural tactic in the book to stymie, derail and defeat Obama’s legistlative and government agenda. 5. Boycott NBC, MSNBC, CNN, CBS, ABC and PBS. You are only going to get set-up on these stations and their newsrooms are Democrat PR Offices. And finally, 6. NO COMPROMISES ANY MORE! Bi-partisanship is BS!!!!!!!!!

Think you can do that, GOP? You gutless, grapeless COWARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bizarre spectacle of Dem youth tools outside White House

Still running against Bush

I saw on FOX NEWS last night that masses of Georgetown University students and others took to the streets outside the White House shouting chants of “Obama! Obama! Obama!”

Apparently they did this sometime after THE ONE was declared winner of the presidential election.

How bizarre are these kids and their Democrat masters? Bush isn’t on the ballot and Obama wasn’t running against Bush, yet you would have thought that Obama beat Bush in this election.

It’s funny – hilarious actually – because it illustrates just how badly Bush got these peoples’ goat for all these years. They could never defeat him in either of his elections, so they resort to this football ‘rah-rah’ stuff outside the White House.

I’m sure Bush was bothered not one bit.

I hope they all get colds, sore throats and hang-overs from their pointless escapade. Wendell Goler of FOX NEWS seemed to be laughing at them. Don’t blame him. What a bunch of tools.

Senate GOP take a page from Dems and filibuster judges

GOP had better learn to fight

Well, that was surprising to who? Not me.

Now I want to encourage all my fellow conservatives to call their senators and advise them that BI-PARTISANSHIP will not be tolerated. I want Republican Senators to give the Democrats in the U.S. Senate a taste of their own medicine and FILIBUSTER every single judge that President Obama sends.

And when the press asks WHY, I want every one of those GOP Senators to say that the Presidents needs to send up a ‘consensus’ nominee and that his judicial nominees are not ‘in the mainstream’ and that he is a ‘polarizing’ leader.

Do it, Senate GOP. Show some guts for once and play the game.

Politics is about WINNING, not being liked or ‘getting along’ with the other side.

Think you idiots have learned that after tonight?

Screw you and your BI-PARTISANSHIP you losers!!!

I challenge you because I know you are really just a bunch of scared little girls who have no grapes.

Wrote-in Mitt Romney for President

Cast my vote

Voted around 10:20 CST this morning and cast my first-ever write-in vote for Mitt Romney.

Yes, I have struggled with the thought of an Obama presidency. In the end it was McCain’s failure to support his party and president over the past 8 years that pushed my hand. The ‘Gang of 14′ backstab was what hurt McCain the most. He lost a lot of support that day in 2005, perhaps as much as %20-%25 of the base voters. I was among that percentage.

I feel good about my vote and cast my remaining votes for Republicans Thad Cochran, Roger Wicker and Greg Davis.

If the Republicans lose this election the only bright spot for the country will be that it will force the GOP to go back to their base and become the conservative party again. Maybe then we will have a party of doers who understand that ‘compromise’ with your ideological enemies is foolishness. Maybe then we will have a party who will understand that it’s supporters want them to fight and win.

Regardless of what others feel, I hope everyone gets out and exercises the precious right of voting. Democracy demands it.

McCain is losing because he refuses to fight, much like the national GOP

Bob Dole redux in full cycle

As everyone here can attest, I am NOT a McCain fan. I haven’t been a fan since before the ‘Gang of 14′ and will never be a fan since that horrible betrayal.

Despite my unfavorable opinion (or maybe in light of it), it surprises me to see Senator McCain working so hard to loose this election by failing to take the fight to his Democratic opponent.

Several weeks ago he had clear political momentum. Talking heads on television blame the Wall Street slump for his sudden decline but I beg to differ. I think his fall from the polls is related to who he is and his seeming willing lack to fight when he is under relentless attack by enemies.

In this approach he is repeating the mistakes of 2006. The GOP didn’t loose that election because of Bush or what was happening in Iraq. They GOP lost that election because of their gutlessness, cowardice and unwillingness to stay united and counter-attack their enemies.

McCain is doing the same now and HE WILL LOOSE.

I urge RS posters who support McCain to get in touch with their local McCain campaign offices and urge, insist and berate them to get McCain to FIGHT.

If he doesn’t and keeps using this magnificently flawed ‘nice guy’ approach he will surely lose. This race has echos of 1996 when Senator Bob Dole took the ‘nice guy’ approach and lost an election he might have won if he had taken advantage when he had his opportunity.

Politics is about WINNING, not about being the guy that everyone likes in the end. McCain has never understood this reality and will loose unless he changes course now and starts fighting back at all the smears, lies and media-generated ‘scandals’ that are utter BS.

This is my straight advice to McCain, a man I personally don’t like. That is how bad he is running his campaign that even I am giving him the remedy to his problem.

Will he take it? Likely not.

Too bad for him.

I’m sick of the LIES about the state of our economy

Economy in good shape

When oh when will the idiot GOP learn to quit accepting the premises of the leftwing media and start defending the sound U.S. economy?

For the past 7 1/2 years Americans have been led to believe that our nation is on the verge of economic collapse.

This is nonsense.

The economy has been growing steadiliy since 2003-2004, and there has been NO RECESSION since early 2001-2002. A ‘recession’ is defined as two straight quarters of job shrinkage, and our economy has not had such a period.

If this is so, why do Republicans go along with the media-created premise that things are terrible economically? Are they just politically stupid or blind to economic reality? Could it be both?

I want to see the GOP get some grapes and start defending our economic stability, the free market and jobs creation.

They act like just because there are some problems that everything is going to hell in a handbasket.

Not true and everyone knows better except rubes that listen to the daily forecasts of DOOM and GLOOM from the mainstream media.

Wall Street has some problems and so does the housing sector. Those two sectors of the economy created their own problems and NO ONE should be bailing them out so they can continue following the same policies that got them in this mess in the first place. So why, just WHY are Republicans and the White House trying to salvage these sectors?

Phil Graham was right and McCain booted him off his team because he was bold enough to tell people that our economy was sound (which it is) and not give into the ‘spin’ of the media machince. The rest of the GOP has nothing but raisins. Grow some grapes, GOP and start defending your economic record. You didn’t cause the mortgage or lending crisis and you have nothing to be sorry about or ashamed of.

I’m ashamed of you though. Very ashamed.

GROW SOME GRAPES!

A retort to Oliver Stone’s historical revisionists nonsense

Let's fund a movie of our own

Got a great idea.

Since UFO boy Oliver Stone is coming out with a satirical movie that lampoons and distorts the person and family of President George W. Bush, I suggest conservatives out there donate $ to fund a movie called Billy Jeff that caricatures President Willam Jefferson Clinton.

What do you think our ‘objective’ media friends who see no problem with broadcasting lies about Bush would react to a movie about their poster boy Clinton?

I guarantee that they would go nuts. There would be threats from the Kos segment and other crazies at the HuffPo and DU that would be worth their weight in comedic gold.

Surely there is some imaginative and creative film maker out there who would jump at the chance. Let’s make it worth their while and create a fund to make such a film. Seeing the left get a taste of it’s own medicine is reason enough for such a project.

Breaking News – Dems to let offshore oil ban expire! AP has details

real energy independence

Just saw this article on Yahoo. I have the link and included the title and writer of the article. Check it out. If true, this is a HUGE victory for our side.

‘Drive By’ Media tries to derail more drilling with hit piece about Interior Department

MSM up to it's tricks again

I love how a story that concerns internal ethical issues at the DOI is connected by the ‘Drive By’ to the current issue of oil drilling.

Is anyone else here at RedState SICK AND TIRED of these deliberate attempts by supposed ‘objective’ media to try and influence the issue over tapping our own natural resources?

The RNC and every conservative blog, radio talk show host, conservative news commentators and GOP lawmakers need to fight back NOW and fight back HARD.

Call the press out for the lap-dogs of the enviromental lobby that they most assuredly are and throw this nonsense back in their faces.

I am tired of this garbage.

The wheels are coming off the Obama campaign

Floundering Democrats in trouble

It’s been quite some time – maybe not since Bush vs. Dukakis in 1988 – that I’ve seen the wheels coming off a campaign this early, but Obama-Biden seem to be racing to damage their chances for 2008 beyond repair.

Reading about their attacks on Palin and the garbage that they’ve been spewing from their enablers at Kos and other class websites, they seem on pace to accomplish their own political demolition in record time.

The poll results can’t be reassuring to them, not with Indys and other non-affiliated voters now giving McCain-Palin a second look. Also, a re-energized base has fired the fight back into the GOP.

It’s fun to watch. It truly is fun to watch.

The utter hypocrisy of the AP (Advocacy Press) and their Yahoo facilitators

GOP and Dem Conventions treated differently

My fellow RS posters, you have to go to YAHOO and see this to believe it!

At the very top of the main page is a photo of Governor Palin from last night’s speech, and to your right is this caption for a ‘news’ story.

RNC speeches fact-checked
Sarah Palin and her fellow RNC speakers weren’t completely truthful at times. » Claims versus facts

Now I challenge the AP (Advocacy Press) to go back in their archives from a week or so back and show us here at RS any comparable article on the Democrat National Convention.

What say you, Erick, Brian C and others? Challenge these ‘journalists’ and let’s see what they have to say.

Dear John, I bet you wish you had more Conservatives on your side now

Bitting the hand that feeds you

This is going to be short and somewhat charitable criticism.

Dear John,

After spending the last 8 years sabotaging Conservatives on important issues (free speech, judges, illegal immigration), I wonder how you feel now about the way your friends in the Drive-By Press are treating your VP nominee?

Sad to say that you would have had a lot more on our side in your corner now if you had remembered your real friends. Palin will pay the price for the hands you spit upon and the backs you buried knives in.

As for me, I wish Palin was at the top of the ticket and not you. She deserves better than what she’s getting from our partisan press.

Too bad for you. Remember all this the next time you ‘compromise’ away our majority on judges or try to give citizenship to 12 million criminals.

Yes John, it’s your fault.

Why do GOP leaders and party members talk to the MSM?

Wasting time and words

Here’s my solution to the anti-conservative bent of just about every mainstream broadcast media outlet.

The GOP needs to quit talking to these people, pure and simple.

Don’t let me read any arguments about but,but.. we need to get our message out when that is not an option with the Drive-Bys.

These people are our enemies, again pure and simple. They don’t care about our message, just twisting it and debating against it.

Quit talking to CNN.
Quit talking to MSNBC
Quit talking to NBC
Quit talking to CBS
Quit talking to ABC

Keep talking to FOX. They are the ONLY network that let’s the GOP have a say without constantly trying to deconstruct our message as if they are the opposing party.

Why in the HELL the RNC still allows GOP leaders and spokesmen/women to go on these Drive-By shows and serve as political meat for tenderizing is beyond me.
When the GOP guest has to sit there and defend him/herself against attacks from the Democrat guest AND the so-called news host, it’s obvious what should be done.

Boycott the major news networks. Don’t do anymore interviews at the convention and don’t argue with them on their stupid premises and DNC talking points.
Tell Gulianni, Huckabee, Bennett and others to quit talking to the networks except FOX and don’t let any spokes people go on their shows.

Blackout the MSM Drive-Bys. DO IT NOW FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE CONVENTION. Send a message they get.

Bring back the old REDSTATE web page

I don't like the new site design

This new REDSTATE page design is just not interesting to look at and it isn’t as user-friendly as the last design.

Please go back to the old design.

I have yet to figure out why sites like realclearpolitics.com and redstate.com feel the need to change good formats and page designs just for the sake of ‘updating’ their sites.

Just take this as constructive criticism. No flame intended but I can’t understand why RS had to change their excellent design.

How much do they pay Stephanie Abrams of The Weather Channel?

Silly weather reporters

This is too much.

Watching The Weather Channel and it’s ‘crack’ team of reporters give commentary on Hurricane Gustav that make me look for a bottle of Jack Daniels.

The lovely Stephanie Abrams was on television about 15 minutes ago pulling plant stems and small branches out of a puddle and talking about the size of debris that you might want to avoid in case of high winds. I watched this little segment with creeping annoyance.

I think most people are smart enough to know that if they see a cross-tie, beam or light pole go flying by then they KNOW that the winds are dangerously high.

How stupid is that segment?

Since I’ve got a degree in Journalism, maybe I can go get a job at TWC making 6 figures and taking trips to Florida or other coastal regions to point out roofs with no shingles, trees laying on cars (wow, look at that! It’s a limb on a car!!!), or sticks floating in puddles.

What a bunch of silly-looking people.

The politicalization of natural disasters

What the GOP should have done and should do

The big lesson of Hurricane Katrina that the GOP should have learned in 2005 is that their party has to be pro-active and have a media team ready for battle.

Weather is now effectively politicized thanks to the myths that were allowed to be repeated, without rebuff from our side, by enemies in the MSM.

Now Gutav hits and we are playing along with our enemies YET AGAIN, primarily because our ‘leaders’ in the GOP never step forward and defend their own against frivilous and ludicrous attacks.

The GOP should have gone ahead with their convention, ackowledging their support and prayers for the people, disaster volunteers and national guardsmen/police who are responding in the appropriate manner.

Why do they lend credence to the silliness of the Kartina charges by playing along with liberal talking points and premises?

Grow a spine GOP and learn to fight back.

Weekly news about raids, arrests and deportations prove Enforcement Only works

We should have started this sooner

It amazes me when I look online almost every day now and see a story about large groups of illegal aliens being arrested in Arizona, Illinois, Florida, Iowa, California, Mississippi and all over the country.

I thought that Enforcement Only wasn’t workable? Didn’t Senator Lindsey Graham say that “the votes aren’t there” when it came to the CIR debate?

Of course, they eventually passed an enforcement bill that was signed into law and we all know about the Secure Fence Act.

When I look at the news now, showing successful ICE raids, arrests of corrupt business leaders, deportations and hefty fines, I am forced to ask Why weren’t we doing this sooner?!? Just think if our government had been bothering to enforce the law for the last 20 years, we wouldn’t have the rampant theft of identities, the murders or rapes due to criminal illegals, and our schools wouldn’t be full of Spanish-babbling teens who shouldn’t even be getting taxpayer funded education.

Now is not the time to talk of backing off. Now is the time to STEP UP THE ACTION EVEN MORE!

We as LEGAL citizens need to keep the heat turned UP and the pressure ON these elected officials. We will NOT tolerate another attempt at Amnesty. Enforcement of current laws works and sends the right message that such behavior will no longer be ignored.

When McCain wins, hold his feet in the fire, not to the fire.
