Message to Beltway GOP: Have Senator-elect Scott Brown deliver GOP response to the State of the Union address

I can think of no better way to “let the people speak”, than to have Senator-elect Brown deliver the GOP response to President Obama’s first State of the Union speech next week (whether he is sworn in or not!).  As it was mentioned in this AP article no less.

“It would make everybody the 41st senator, and it would bring fairness and discussion back to the equation,” the state senator said of a potential victory. He spent the rest of the day out of public view, crafting evening rally remarks that had the potential to be an early State of the Union speech for the national Republican Party.

The 41st vote against ObamaCare, from the “people’s seat”… it would be a very, very smart move.  I do hope the GOP inside the Beltway is considering this.

Except, my one issue: He needs to be re-elected in 2012. He can’t become a national spokesman for the GOP and be an “independent-voice”

I can’t imagine what Obama could possibly have to say in his speech except for phrases like “the last eight years.” He definitely needs writers who can do resume enhancement.

like, “We will solve all of the problems George W. Bush caused me starting in 2013. You can take that to the bank.”

He’s turning out to be our best campaigner.

Well well, aside from Senator-elect Brown being my first choice, Virginia’s Governor McDonnell should be an equal treat (except he is not known as Brown is now; perhaps Rep. Boehner should have waited for the Mass. results?). If memory serves, the response usually rotates each year from Congress to the Governors. It must be the governors turn this year:

Boehner cited McDonnell’s leadership on the economy and solutions to create jobs and put Virginians back to work:

“As the American people continue to ask, ‘where are the jobs,’ Gov. McDonnell has offered common-sense economic policies in stark contrast to Washington Democrats’ job-killing agenda,” he said. “We don’t need a government takeover of health care or a ‘cap-and-trade’ national energy tax – we need a common-sense plan to help middle-class families and small businesses and allow them to keep more of what they earn so they can save, invest, and hire.”

McConnell said the governor understands the frustration of Americans and is a leader who offers common sense solutions.

“Gov. McDonnell understands that the American people are more interested in shrinking unemployment than expanding government,” he said. “He is an impressive public servant and an excellent choice to offer Republican solutions for our country.”

and while I respect the new Governor of Virginia I believe US Senator Scott Brown has the American people captivated right now and he would let more people hear our message who might not do so otherwise. I believe he also speaks to a lot Independents out there nationally.
