I am simply asking for a subscription-live-feed with ability to playback all speeches and breakout sessions. You might dare highlight a few of such Q&A sessions using Adobe Connect (or something akin to it that’s better as it uses *Flash player, hence, incompatible with Apple’s iPhone) — which would allow participants around the globe to chime in with questions.

Fellow conservatives, Be Well,

p.s. Perhaps include a one hour “free” feed from a keynote address to bloggers’ row

Someone is going to make money dissecting how Team Perry imploded, and they’ll source a lot of what was written on RedState by Erick, this great Governor of Texas himself, and many others (warning: be prepared for a few minutes of fame in a book’s reference section).

Learning from President Clinton, Speaker Gingrich’s often quoted partner-in-crime,

was another lesson via Dick Morris: ‘triangulization‘. Somehow my ‘friend’ Newt Gingrich got to the Texas governor to include him in a 10th Amendment brigade, knowing he had to, in order to prevent Governor Perry from watching and waiting, unlike the Tea Party grassroots’ favorite candidates of Rep. Michelle Bachmann (who BTW, may challenge Speaker Boehner in less than 50 weeks), Gov. Sarah Palin, and CEO Herman Cain, once again, Gov. Perry jumped the shark.

Now we have this from Erick. It would seem Newt Gingrich is on the verge of being Rick Roll’d, but not the way those annoying viral videos took hold, but by a nexus evangelical & catholic Pro-Life voters and Tea Party grassroots activists who will remind America again about the core of Reagan conservatives. This is A Time For Choosing of this on the 39th anniversary of the disastrous SCOTUS Roe v. Wade decision:

p.s. Question. How would a President Gingrich govern? Like his idol Winston Churchill? I for one prefer an American republic to a prime minister-ship, given the choice… But heck, what didn’t the Founding Fathers know that Newt does?

p.p.s. Georgia just became a bell weather for Super Tuesday. Speaker Gingrich abandoned it, like so many other things, when they became too inconvenient.

In the age of AlGore’s internets, one would think a democrat congressman could reply to an email faster than 19 days later, especially when he’s trying to hold onto the coat-tail garnered seat he squeaked by being elected to in 2008. But no. At least he offered an apology for it.

Background. Liberty Central (yes that Liberty Central of the now ‘Ginni’ Thomas fame) somehow goads me into using their handy tool to write my representative, one Mark Schauer (MI-7) and the jackass (huge h/t to Thomas Nast) Michigan Senators Levin and Stabenow to forewarn them to stop the threatened Obama-Tax-Hike 2011.

I dislike using the auto-format of such letters, so I co-opted it and went with this, word for word:

Unless Congress acts in the coming weeks, every taxpayer will see tax increases starting on January 1, 2011.

Income taxes will rise for all earners, including my own middle-income family of four. With the marriage penalty will be re-instated and child tax credits being cut in half, we will be forced to do more with less. All while the federal government continues to spend, borrow and waste more of our tax dollars. The departments of Agriculture, HHS, Education, Justice and the GSA alone have lost over $144 million in “stimulus” dollars.

Who do I blame for this? Those senators and representatives who have voted for the over $1,000,000,000,000.00 (trillion) “government stimulus”. Those politicians that would sooner not finish the jobs of their terms, like passing a FY11 federal budget and those who would sooner follow Sen. Reid and Speaker Pelosi’s lead. Who will I be showing the door to on November second and again in 2012 and 2014?

Furthermore, the “death tax” will go from zero to as high as 55%. Taxes on investments will increase. Some exemptions and deductions will be eliminated. The Alternative Minimum Tax will hit 15 million people.

Unless Congress acts, taxes will increase by $200 billion next year alone – and $3.8 trillion in the next 10 years. Small businesses, who employ over 70% of working Americans, will be hit particularly hard. They will pay more than half of the taxes raised by increasing the top rates. Job creation will continue to suffer as individuals and businesses find their finances badly hurt by more taxation. Coupled with a second coming housing foreclosure crisis, rising health care costs due to ObamaCare (a/k/a PPACA) our country will face another, yet longer recession.

$170 less per month in 2011. What will my family do less with next year? Travel less to Michigan, buy less from manufacturers, cancel Spring break camps for our children, limit dining out to once per month (vice four now), and finally cut back on charitable contributions.

Congress needs to act now to hold the line on all tax increases. Economic recovery and job creation are more important. And quite frankly, my family, and yes my neighbor’s job, are more important than anyone in Congress or the White House.

This was Schauer’s response <del datetime="00">today</del> yesterday, finally:

October 25, 2010

Dear Mr. Smith:

Thank you for writing to me about your opposition to any increase in taxes. I appreciate your concern about this issue and I apologize for the delay in responding.

Like you, I believe that middle-class and working-class families are already paying too much in taxes. That is why I supported the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (also known as the “stimulus bill”), under which most American families will receive an $800 annual tax cut in 2009 and 2010. For the many people who have lost their jobs and are still having difficulty getting a new one, we made sure that health insurance remains an affordable option by lowering COBRA premiums and expanding coverage. We also increased unemployment benefits by $25 a week and extended the emergency unemployment compensation program.

I understand the concerns that many Americans have over how their government is spending taxpayers’ money. One of the reasons I ran for Congress is because I believed we needed to end the fiscal irresponsibility that turned a $234 billion surplus into a $1.2 trillion deficit by the time I took office.

One way to impose budget discipline is through Pay-As-You-Go (PAYGO) rules, which require that spending and revenue legislation be deficit neutral. When I served in Michigan’s State Legislature, Democrats and Republicans both had to follow a simple rule: you must balance your budget. This meant that we had to worry less about what we wanted to do and more about what we could afford to do. On a national level, Congress followed this Pay-As-You-Go rule in the 1990s and it led to a balanced budget and surpluses. Unfortunately, this law expired in 2002 and Congress did not renew it. Ever since I came to Washington, I have been pushing Members from both parties to come together to put in place this common-sense rule. On February 4, 2010, I joined a bipartisan majority to pass this bill and I am pleased President Obama signed it into law on February 12, 2010.

I also supported the Fraud Enforcement Recovery Act, which will crack down on the fraudulent use of taxpayer dollars. Sen. Patrick Leahy (VT) introduced S. 386 in the Senate on February 5, 2009, and when it came to the House floor for a vote on May 6, 2009, it passed with an overwhelmingly bipartisan vote of 367-59. President Obama signed this bill into law on May 20, 2009.

Another bill that you may find of interest is S. 454, the Weapons Systems Acquisition Reform Act of 2009, which was introduced by Sen. Carl Levin (MI). This bill will provide a much needed overhaul to our defense acquisitions spending to ensure that American tax dollars are being well spent. With my support, the bill passed the House and I am pleased that President Obama signed this bill into law on May 22, 2009.

While I will continue to fight to eliminate wasteful spending and lessen the burden on working and middle class families, I do believe that our government has a key role to play in making sure people who play by the rules have a fair shot, promoting quality, affordable health care for all Americans, giving our kids access to a decent education, keeping our water safe, treating our senior citizens with the respect they deserve, and protecting America from those who would seek to do it harm.

Again, thank you for contacting me. To receive updates on this and other issues, please visit my website at www.house.gov/schauer. If you have any additional questions or comments in the future please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Mark Schauer

Member of Congress

So fellow RedStaters, conservatives, TEA Party people, what pray tell should my response be?

p.s. I’m trying to figure out how to respectfully tell him to take me off his mailing list as I have already voted against him, all absentee-like. Perhaps I should send along a copy of the “help wanted” ads for his staff too. I’d hate to think my vote wasn’t able to create or save some six jobs…

(These must be the same kinds of mayors who have led American cities into poverty? Perhaps it’s time to plan the next TEA party wave?)

Not only has this weatherization boondoggle fallen far short of its goal to weatherize one million homes per year, it is now reportedly in the President’s own home-state of Illinois, causing more harm to inhabitants and doing less, yes less, to curb energy loss. Consider this bit regarding Illinois from the latest report of the U.S. Energy Department’s inspector general:

Substandard weatherization work can pose health and safety risks to occupants,” the audit said. “Payment of excessive materials costs to contractors reduces the amount of funding available to weatherize homes … and reduces the amount of funding for direct job creation.

In 15 weatherized homes visited, auditors found 14 would not pass safety inspections because of poor work quality. Twelve of the homes had “substandard work that could have, in some cases, resulted in significant property damage or injury to the homeowners,” the report said, such as a kitchen exhaust vented to the attic that auditors said posed a fire hazard.

It get’s worse:

…officials also found instances where a furnace had not been vented properly; a shut-off valve had not been installed on a gas stove; and, carbon monoxide detectors, smoke alarms and fire extinguishers had not been installed as planned. In one home, a contractor had been paid for removing siding to insert insulation, but the contractor had actually taken a short cut, drilling holes through the existing siding. A July 2010 State monitoring report cited a significant number of gas leaks in single-family homes weatherized by CEDA contractors. State officials reported that the number of gas leaks verified during the monitoring review was “alarming.”

This all has been made public by the DOE nearly a year ago. A full DOE IG report on the Weatherization Assistance Program from February 2010 can be found here. Further audits are being conducted currently in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Ranking Senate Finance republican, Sen. Chuck Grassley (whom dhorowitz3 states we can do better than) sums it up here in a recent letter to DOE Secretary Chu:

Along with OIG, I am concerned that the Department of Energy and state WAPs are failing to prevent fraud, waste, and abuse in the massive amounts of taxpayer dollars spent on weatherization projects. On September 16, 2010, in response to my previous concerns about a lack of oversight of stimulus spending, your Department assured me that “the Weatherization program has turned the corner,” and “made great strides” in reducing fraud, waste, and abuse. In light of this report, it is clear that the Department’s efforts have been inadequate. It is critical that the Department take immediate steps to ensure that the Illinois experience is an exception, rather than the rule. We owe no less to American taxpayers.

This is what happens when you live and breathe in a SimWorld. And these were considered the “best”, most ready shovel ready stimulus jobs. Too bad even the Blue Dogs didn’t heed Michelle Malkin’s job-killer warning eighteen months ago.

Does Cindy even have a basis for a legitimate rant? Let’s break it down.

Americans bailout GM, and while still having a 60% stake in this company, a/k/a Government (or Obama) Motors, it ups and brings another plant in Mexico with 400 jobs that could just as easily be done on Tennessee.

In exchange, Americans get a porous border with our southern neighbor, illegal drug trade compounded by human trafficking and a standing ovation by Obama democrats for the Mexican president F’lip Calderon (when given the honor of a joint address to Congress) for calling Americans (by way if Arizona) a bunch of Latina-phobes.

Perhaps ‘we’ should ask Mexico how is it that following Mexico City’s rank as kidnapping-capital in North America, Phoenix, Arizona now comes in #2.

Or from another angle, while American corporations set up shop and jobs in Mexico, that country’s second greatest source of GNP are from wire-transfers of both legal and illegal aliens working in the U.S.

One wonders if the hundreds of flying Mexican flags at pro-immigration rallies around the country are for a change in U.S. laws or an affirmation of La Raza’s charter? This is a hard conundrum to untangle when seeing the world through the eyes of our own president. Sometimes Virginia, allegiances surpass an oath taken to support and defend The Constitution of these United States:

I think I’m getting used to this meme from the Obama Administration. When there’s a problem, they aren’t in charge, period. BP has the lead on the oil leak, Gov. Jindal has the lead on the oil mess, and the MMS Chief quits her post without her boss, Obama, knowing of it. (Personally, if I were a Lib, I’d blame the Duke Mens basketball team for keeping the POTUS from more pressing matters)

Now we have Texas being warned by this Administration to be on the alert for a Somali terrorist that may soon cross their southern border. That would be the same border state that this Administration has ignored for over a year — ignored their pleas for more border enforcement, more troops on the ground.

Even when you call for help from Obama, it never comes. It immediately reminded me of that old school Public Enemy rap, “9-1-1 Is A Joke”. Except the joke is this Administration.

Not for the simple fact that lapdog liberal (and Athens, Georgia-area) carpetbagger Congressman John Barrow remains in congress and supports Nancy Pelosi when it matters most (as in most of the time and when voting for Speaker), I am beyond fed up and TEA’d off that snake-oil salesman John remains in Georgia’s office of the 12th district to this day.

I am blogging of a Cook County D+1 district, and ergo in 2010 especially, a district that should be considered an easy pickup considering Redstate’s policy of supporting the conservative in the primary and the republican in the general.

Redstate has (via Erick) endorsed Brian Rooney for Congress in Michigan’s 7th district, to end-run around his fellow primary challengers to defeat Michigan’s most corrupt in history apparatchik and Pelosi bootlicker. So what say you about Georgia’s own 12th congressional district?

I submit to RS this candidate for consideration. I have contacted two of the three declared candidates and suffice to say, having communicated with each one directly, am (A) not to keen on the good-ol’ boy network (read Oxendine) and (B) muckraking by a certain Georgia county chairwoman who shall remain nameless.

I’ll dig down more as this Ides of March approaches and look forward to seeing all at the upcoming Defending the American Dream Summit.

Every time a recession occurs in our country, Democrats control the House.

It’s a bit hard not to tie these contrasting headlines together. The president must be reaching for an even worse unemployment number this year, in hopes of sounding like a populist. What the hell has happened with Paul Volcker? Wasn’t he the magician at the Fed under Reagan? On another note, I’m of the firm belief (more research needed), that every time a recession occurs in our country, Democrats control the House.

Elections = consequences.

From the AP (with racial wording, hmm?)

President Barack Obama spooked the market Thursday, after asking Congress for limits on how large big banks can be and to end some of the risky trading large financial companies have used in recent quarters to boost profits.

(snip)

The Dow is trying to bounce back after losing 213 points Thursday and 336 points, or 3.1 percent, during the past two trading sessions. The losses have erased all the early gains seen in 2010.

Yes, Obama, the anti-capitalist. (Marx would be proud, no?)

(Obama) is viewed favorably by (only) 27 percent of U.S. investors. In an October poll, 32 percent in the U.S. held a positive impression.

“Investors no longer feel they can trust their instincts to take risks,” said poll respondent David Young, a managing director for a broker dealer in New York. Young cited Obama’s efforts to trim bonuses and earnings, make health care his top priority over jobs and plans to tax “the rich or advantaged.”

So when you are taking the free markets on a death-spiral joy ride, why stop with cretin 2009 efforts?

The global banking industry was thrown into turmoil on Thursday after President Barack Obama , responding to public rage over the financial crisis, proposed the most far-reaching overhaul of Wall Street since the 1930s.

(snip)

The measures, which require congressional approval, hark back to the response to the 1929 stock market crash that ushered in the Glass-Steagall Act, separating commercial and investment banking, which remained in law until 1999.

(snip)

Others accused the White House of adopting a populist message to divert attention away from the blow delivered by the Democrats’ defeat in the Senate race in Massachusetts.

And segway to this from Reuters pondering (now Senator elect) Scott Brown:

Stocks are likely to rally if Republicans pull off a victory in Massachusetts’ Senate election on Tuesday, on hopes that it would slow down President Obama’s sweeping reform program, especially with respect to healthcare.

(snip)

Financial stocks would also gain as a Republican victory could slam the brakes on Obama’s legislation to tighten regulations of the U.S. financial industry. In Massachusetts, Coakley has demonstrated a position of wanting to regulate the sector.

“Financials will have more resistance to regulations,” said Matt Havens, partner at Global Vision Advisors in Hingham, Massachusetts.

The Republican win would also be positive for the U.S. dollar in the long run as a more divided Congress generally produces diverse policies.

To borrow from AT, voting Democrat causes cancer… and unemployment.

(Another Obama backed nominee bites the dust)

…over another failed nominee.

Obama’s nominee to head the TSA, Erroll Southers, withdrew today citing a “political agenda” (h/t to Senator DeMint).

In a statement, Erroll Southers said he is withdrawing because his nomination has become a lightning rod for those with a political agenda. Mr. Obama tapped Mr. Southers to lead the TSA in September but his confirmation has been blocked by Republican Sen. Jim DeMint, who says he’s worried Mr. Southers would allow TSA employees to join a labor union.

The White House, which was defending Southers earlier this month, said the president has accepted Mr. Southers’ decision with great sadness.

Great sadness, right? How about a sigh of relief?

As Erick rightly alerted us, this clown of a nominee thought Americans were more of a threat to our nation than actual terrorists:

Southers identifies pro-life groups and anti-government activists as particular problems.

Yes, you read that right. Mr. Southers is worried more about tea party activists than Islamic terrorists.

Mr. Southers also thinks that America itself is to blame for the terrorist attacks. Had we not sided with Israel and France, which he says is an anti-Islamic nation, we would not be attacked by Islamic extremists.

“Some people might argue that U.S. foreign policy exacerbates terrorism.”

Not so fast. Erroll Southers says the thought that terrorists are all Middle-Eastern and Islamic is a misconception. According to Erroll Southers, we’ve overrated the threat posed by Islamic radicals and we need to focus on pro-lifers and Christians instead.

Dear President Obama, how about screening future nominees better (h/t Erick) than TSA agents screen passengers?

I’m just sayin’

“It would make everybody the 41st senator, and it would bring fairness and discussion back to the equation,” the state senator said of a potential victory. He spent the rest of the day out of public view, crafting evening rally remarks that had the potential to be an early State of the Union speech for the national Republican Party.

The 41st vote against ObamaCare, from the “people’s seat”… it would be a very, very smart move. I do hope the GOP inside the Beltway is considering this.

Saturday was probably the first time since the U.S. House voted to impeach Bill Clinton that I followed daily machinations leading up to the vote on H.R. 3962. Henceforth, I will affectionately refer to those supporting this $3 Trillion* <del datetime="2009-11-08T05:17:47+00:00">load of crap</del> as The 220.

As the final votes were being cast, I kept screaming at C-SPAN for “five more votes… five more votes” from the Democrats, which never came. Then there was that one lone vote by Louisianna’s freshman GOP Congressman Cao. Geraldo Rivera was over on FoxNews asking RNC Chair Steele (when he found out who the lone republican vote was) if he’d “take him out to the woodshed”, which gave way to quick banter that whomever it was, they were probably from a swing district. To wit, Geraldo was right, Rep. Cao squeeked by now convicted former Rep. William Jefferson during a runoff last December for LA’s 2nd Congressional District.

As I blogged over at MichelleMalkin.com, should we be upset with him? Sure. Should he be considered another Dede Scozzafava? Heck no. Congressman Cao can be brought around. He might just have a simple out by voting against whatever HealthScare bill comes out of conference.

As for myself, I was more concerned with the other persuadables out of the 219 Democrats who voted for HR 3962. I wrote and made several calls to my own freshman Michigan Congressman Mark Schauer. He still voted Aye. Thus, my last fired off correspondence to him:

Congressman Schauer,

I was deeply saddened and disappointed tonight to see that you voted for HR 3962. You have plainly chosen your leadership over your constituents and future generations of Americans.

Was your appointment Thursday to the Vice Chairman of the Subcommittee on Highways and Transit the carrot Speaker Pelosi offered you in exchange for your vote?

Regards,
Mr. Smith

p.s. May November 2, 2010 be the longest night of your political career. Enjoy your last 420 days in office.

The two strongest contenders to replace liberal Pelosi licker Mark Schauer are former Congressman Tim Walberg and the brother of FL’s Rep. Tom Rooney, Brian Rooney (who has to carpetbag a few miles into MI 7th). I’ll be donating directly to both as I sort out which one I’ll be voting for come the primary.

In the meantime, please push your (or nearest) GOP Senator to back up Oklahoma’s Senator Tom Coburn’s HotAir reported effort to have the entire Health Care bill read on the Senate floor:

If Coburn and other Republicans force floor readings of the bill, that may drift into March or April. If Coburn insists on a floor reading every time the bill gets amended, it may be summertime before they can get around to it. The Senate has other business to conduct, which would interrupt floor readings that would take at least several straight days of floor time to complete for a bill that will run into the thousands of pages. And all it takes is one Senator to withhold the unanimous consent necessary to dispense with floor readings.

In effect, it would allow Coburn to have the bill filibuster itself.

How salacious would it be to have the final democrat HealthScare bill coming out of conference when all these Congressman and Senators are heading into primary and reelection season?

Very.

Huzzah!

The recession is over, so says Reuters. Even if it is spurned in part by government tax-relief (wow, tax-breaks, one would think liberals would get a clue) via home buyer tax credits and the “cash for clunkers” programs, it is time we all embrace this news.

However, in calling the “(Bush) recession” over, it’s time to mark the beginning of the Obama recession. The narrative going into 2010 will be simple, no sooner has the U.S. economy recovered, than another recession commenced marking the shortest recovery period in U.S. history. Root causes attributed to continued rising unemployment (despite fuzzy math from the White House), the wasteful $787 billion porkulous Recovery Act, the return of higher taxes as the Bush tax cuts expire, the devaluation of the dollar, exploding deficits, massive debt, growing government, ominous increase in federal mandates on the states, and the threat of government run health care.

The documents released Monday clearly demonstrate that the individuals subjected to Enhanced Interrogation Techniques provided the bulk of intelligence we gained about al Qaeda. This intelligence saved lives and prevented terrorist attacks. These detainees also, according to the documents, played a role in nearly every capture of al Qaeda members and associates since 2002. The activities of the CIA in carrying out the policies of the Bush Administration were directly responsible for defeating all efforts by al Qaeda to launch further mass casualty attacks against the United States. The people involved deserve our gratitude. They do not deserve to be the targets of political investigations or prosecutions. President Obama’s decision to allow the Justice Department to investigate and possibly prosecute CIA personnel, and his decision to remove authority for interrogation from the CIA to the White House, serves as a reminder, if any were needed, of why so many Americans have doubts about this Administration’s ability to be responsible for our nation’s security. – (former) Vice President Dick Cheney

Go Sarah Go!

For all the country club cheering republicans and for my fellow pro-life RedState brethren and sisteren, this news of Sarah Palin‘s forays back into the public debate at a time of her choosing shows she not only has moxy, she has wisdom.

She said deciding when babies get human rights isn’t above her pay grade — a reference to Obama’s response to a question from the Rev. Rick Warren last year. The Democrat said such questions were above his pay grade.

I’m dubbing her the Mohammed Ali of the perspective 2012 presidential candidate world. Governor Palin is all about the rope-a-dope strategy. The proverbial dope or dopes rather, being our current president and those like him, profiteering in their own way, expanding their soft sell culture of death.

Palin said women who can’t give birth should have the opportunity to adopt children who might otherwise be aborted. She mentioned that her own daughter Bristol became pregnant as an unmarried teen and has since given birth to a son.

Palin also took Obama to task for his support of abortion rights and embryonic stem-cell research.

She doesn’t split hairs on the issue, drawing fire from home state critics for making this trip to Indiana to speak. Yet choosing to do so, after passing on other speaking engagements, citing the same reasons as her Alaskan critics, that she was tending to the legislative session, but then making this trip of all invites, demonstrates her commitment to life and especially the life of those whose must needs need defending, is her paramount priority.

Sarah Palin stands apart, she stands strong and when given the chance to “be Sarah”, she shows yet again why she is the one to beat (as they all do) for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination. This is why we love her. Take it from a man, jealousy amongst fellow rumored contenders will get you less than nowhere.

She gets real, she gets honest, she hits it home in a way women can accept better than coming from a man, leaving no stone unturned.

Palin said the challenges she faced during her pregnancy with her son Trig, who was born with Down syndrome, gave her an opportunity to live out her anti-abortion beliefs. She said she prayed often during her pregnancy, especially after tests revealed that her son would be born with the condition.

“The moment he was born, I knew that moment my prayers had been answered,” Palin said. “Trig is a miracle. He is the best thing that ever happened to me and I want other women to have that opportunity.”

She challenged the notion that children must be born perfect and that unplanned pregnancies are inconvenient and can be ended by abortion. “I know for sure my son is perfect just as he is, made in the image of God,” she said.

She asked the crowd to keep working for the “culture of life” in America.

“Life is ordained, life is precious,” she said.

Sarah Palin scares the bejeesus out of the pro-death (a/k/a choice) movement, Planned Parenthood, and other pathological narcissists out there (like the one at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue).
