Me too - but I was biased by my desire for Rick Perry to win the nomination. I still like Perry, but I now fully believe Romney is the one who can beat Obama.

It's my opinion that if Obama's camp tries to drag this campaign into the mud, Romney will happily wade right in.

If he makes the "Right" VP pick, like Dick Morris (like him or not, Morris first predicted the '10 rout) says, "it will be a landslide."

I like him alot more now that he's the nominee, than I did when he was a candidate...

He stays on message, sounds competent and authoritative, and delivers a professional & precise critique of what Obama has done wrong...

And regardless of the positions taken in the primary, the one thing it DID show us, is that the man doesn't run from a campaign fight....

I'm looking forward to watching him be sworn in in January... Once we win this election....

Pat,

Superb piece on Mitt Romney. I've felt since the end of his Massachusetts Governorship that he could/would be the next Ronald Reagan we're looking for. I live in Massachusetts, Romney was superb in a forbidding political climate.

I realize Erick, Levin, Rush, Morrissey, and many many others have been critical, some disparaging, of Romney during the campaign. He's a solid conservative, and governed that way. He just doesn't use incendiary speech always the gentleman, as Reagan was.

I just want to say that I truly believe a person is just as conservative slowing down/stopping liberalism in a liberal state such as Massachusetts as one who's advancing conservatism in a conservative state such as Texas. Romney's job was tougher than Reagan's in California. He's already more conservative than George W Bush, George HW Bush, McCain, and Dole by his campaign. I was angered by the negativity against him this past campaign.

Last point. Romney governed as, or more conservatively, than he campaigned--never more liberal. It's why given a Republican Congress I sincerenly believe he'll go down in history as one of our top 3-4 presidents combining incredible intelligence, wisdom, life experience, leadership with conservatism. I have high hopes for Mitt Romney.

Thanks for a truly complimentary piece. He deserves it.
