(This is a rewrite and greatly expanded, much more in-depth version of my last diary entry)
This week, we’re getting reports that Michael Moore is suing his producers, Bob and Harvey Weinstein for profits from his movie “Fahrenheit 9/11.” Michael Moore made $21 million on the film, but apparently this is not enough. Michael Moore believes in taking from the rich and giving to the poor…..and apparently, he considers himself poor. He needs another $2.7 million. As anyone can see, this goes right along with Moore’s theme of stopping capitalists from gaining too much money, and redistributing their wealth. All sarcasm aside, this puts Michael Moore in the same category as the profit-loving, greedy CEOs that he pretends to hate. If his socialism is predicated on the idea that some people don’t have enough, and others have too much, why is Michael Moore quibbling over $2.7 million? If you had just made $21 million, wouldn’t that already qualify as “too much?” Michael Moore’s overall net worth is estimated between $25-50 million.
So, apparently, $25 million still qualifies Michael Moore as one of the “have-nots.” Apparently, $25 million is not enough. Moore has outearned many of the readers of this article 1,000 times over. Literally. I’ll wait while you pull out your calculator. One major question is: how much did the workers on the lowest rung of his production company make? Wouldn’t these be the “exploited proletariat” that Moore stands up for? Just who exactly is Moore arguing against, when he accuses people of “having too much?” My guess is that he is accused people with a far smaller net worth of being “greedy capitalists.”
The real kicker for me is that Michael Moore is a strident supporter of property rights, especially in the intellectual realm. From his actions, we can see that he is very strong on the capitalist idea of private ownership. For those who don’t know, private ownership and property rights are the cornerstone of capitalism. It is how a rich person says “I own this,” and piles of an enormous sum of money, without having to give any of it to the poor people around him. It is the legal wall between the rich and the poor. Civil law and tort contracts are the locks that keep capitalism in place, and we now see that Michael Moore ain’t afraid to use them. Apparently, when you try to take Michael Moore’s stuff, he sues you. Ask anyone who has ever been sued, and they’ll tell you it feels like being punched in the face. While I’m an enormous proponent of capitalism, I’m not going to argue that it feels good to get sued. It feels like getting kicked by a donkey. This is what Moore is doing in order to get his additional $2.7 million while making films about the less fortunate. He is now one of the bad guys from his own films. Michael Moore might preach socialism, but he definitely practices capitalism.
Once again (and I’m honestly getting tired of this), we see yet another socialist who sees everyone as equal, but sees himself as more equal than the others. We’ve seen this all too many times in the past. Yawn. Think of Fidel Castro whose net worth is estimated in the hundreds of millions, while the rest of his country lives in abject poverty. Apparently, socialists believe that we should spread the wealth around, just not their wealth. Think of Barack Obama, and his luxury trips to Hawaii that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Under the same “coherent” policy, he tells Joe the Plumber that it is better if his wealth is spread around. Why don’t we begin by spreading around the wealth from Obama’s Hawaiian vacation? I myself am dying to see a debate between Michael Moore and Joe the Plumber. What could Michael Moore possibly have to say to Joe? “You’re too greedy?”
I’m sure the counter arguments from Michael Moore would go something to the tune of: “Well, I earned that money, so I should be free to have it if I want it, at which point I can give it to charity.” Michael Moore would only make that argument, if he was totally uneducated about the fact that it is one of the strongest arguments in favor of capitalism, not socialism. Included in the definition of free-market ownership of cash and intellectual property is the idea that one can donate to any private charity they wish.
If I could ask Michael Moore anyone question, it would be this: “Michael, do you really think that what you are doing is any different from what the CEO of Wal-Mart does? Are the millions that you’ve piled up really any different from that of any other CEO? And, why are you seeking to destroy the system has made you so rich, and provided so much opportunity to you and millions of others?” Michael Moore is an astonishing hypocrite, and he needs to tone it down-the needle on the “irony-meter” is in the red zone.
*For the record, everyone needs to read Peter Schiff’s new book “How an Economy Grows and Why it Crashes,” it is an astonishing book that explains the fundamentals of an economy and why free-market Austrian Economics and capitlism trump Keynsian and socialist policies. Unbelievable. Peter Schiff was an economic advisor to Ron Paul. God bless America.

Really, we have readers who have earned less than $25,000 in their lifetime?
jackhammer Thursday, February 10th at 5:06AM EDT (link)I mean maybe some teenagers or college students, but unless we have a lot of readership in Romania or Sub Saharan Africa I think anyone over 26 reading Red State has earned more than $25,000 in their lifetime.
And I hope this really ticks him off to make the movie he’s always wanted to make, and that will finally expose him for the hatemonger he is……maybe he can co-produce it with Oliver stone,a nd Mel Gibson will bankroll it….
I mean if Farenheit 9/11 doesn’t get him shunned (and the Weinsteins along with it, because they made a mint off it too), what would?
