Michelle Obama: When The Race Card Stalls, Trump With Gender For The Win

Seriously Michelle…SERIOUSLY?

Via Drudge we learn that the First Lady believes the current healthcare system is ‘crushing’ women and is, therefore, unacceptable. Apparently, according to the FIRST woman, just being a woman requires that you suffer an undue burden for your family in attending to their collective need for healthcare. Not to worry, ladies, her husband means to deliver you from this evil:

[W]omen play a unique and increasingly significant role in our families. We know the pain, because we are usually the ones dealing with it.

Eight in 10 women, mothers, report that they’re the ones responsible for choosing their children’s doctor, for getting them to their checkups, for managing that follow-up care. Women are the ones to do it. Mothers are the ones that do it. And many women find themselves doing the same thing for their spouses. (Laughter.) And more than 10 percent of women in this country are currently caring for a sick or elderly relative. It’s often a parent, but it could a grandparent, or a mother — or a relative of some sort — but it’s often a parent. So they’re making critical health care decisions for those family members as well.

[snip]

So I think it’s clear that health insurance reform and what it means for our families is very much a women’s issue. It is very much a women’s issue.

And if we want to achieve true equality for women, if that is our goal; if we want to ensure that women have opportunities that they deserve, if that is our goal; if we want women to be able to care for their families and pursue things that they could never imagine, then we have to reform the system. We have to reform the system. The status quo is unacceptable. It is holding women and families back, and we know it.

Women appear, in Shelly’s mind, to be in especial need of a Government takeover of all that tedious business of attending to our family healthcare needs so the girls can catch a little break from the heavy labor of…wait for it…life and reality and personal responsibility.

But what about the non-women out there? Many men have assumed this role…do they NOT know the work of tending to the healthcare needs of their families, or are these things just not a burden to them because they’re “men” and therefore don’t know any better? Worse, is she suggesting that Men don’t need to be saved…just the Women? Worse, still…is she pretending that Men don’t even DO these things…only Women?

I know inarticulate, desperate blathering when I hear it. This, my friends, is the finest example I’ve come across in quite a while.

The First Gal Went Shopping for Kale

jeannieology Friday, September 18th at 11:02PM EDT (link)

Right before dinner –a hypocritical winner — went out shopping for kale

At the end of the summer — she jumped in her Hummer — grabbing her gardening pail

She went without Eurkel to Dupont Circle–barricades, sirens, Secret Service — all of them male

She trod down the street to get something to eat–Asian pears, garlic and quail

H Street was shut – tail she did strut — placing her potatoes right on the scale

A speech she did give – about how we should live – to the peons she continued to wail

Around her neck a lei hung– as cowbells rung–announcing there was nothing on sale

$9 a pint, $5 a dozen– for a poor Kenyan cousin—but for Shelley no need to downscale

A return to agrarian roots – shod in designer boots –gathering nourishment for Lord of the Grail

To curtail her foot print —it might be wise for her next selfish stint

To leave home the Hummer–at the end of the summer

When out shopping for tomatoes and kale!

As a mother of two, I can say that the LAST thing I want is for someone (most especially someone like Mrs. “I’m finally proud of my country” Obama) to tell me what is and is not appropriate for my own child.

Both of my children are under 15, so they don’t qualify for being worthy of life according to Ezekiel Emmanuel. Not only that, but the provision in the bill to allow for “home immunizations” and “home visits for parental counseling” are too creepy for words.

Michelle, her hubby, and her grubby, elitist network of thugs better stay far, far away from my children. I wouldn’t expect a liberal mother like Michelle Obama to understand this since they don’t assign a very high value to human life, but getting between a conservative mother and her children is more dangerous than any wild animal encounter she could dare to imagine.

You hear that Michelle???? I wouldn’t subject my children to your crappy, oppressive, sub-standard, murderous health care if my life depended on it, so stop pretending that you’re trying to help “mothers” and go BE one.

You mean to say...

This year I have been with my parents for their doctors appts. (in their 80’s), taken my son to the emergency room with the flu (in his 30’s), and taken my granddaughter on a routine physical for school (teenager). Not once has it been a burden. I consider it to be part of what a loving family member does for one another. I didn’t go to the appts and/or emergency room because I am a female, it just never crossed my mind that I wouldn’t go. My husband went with me when he wasn’t working.

By the way all have medical insurance either by paying for it through work, being a Dependant on her fathers insurance, and/or Medicare with private insurance.

Thanks Michelle, but as a woman I really don’t need my Governments assistance (intrusion) into our private lives any further than they are already.

I don't agree with her conclusions or that it's the gov responsibility

mom2oneson Saturday, September 19th at 10:26AM EDT (link)

but having a relative that needs LTC or any type of 24/7 isn’t a walk in the park. Even with tons of money it’s difficult to even buy good care. Try to find dependable trustworthy competent in home care givers can be impossible and getting a bed in the few good nursing homes can be impossible. Not everyone has the health or strenght to do it themselves. So as someone who is a liberal and thinks it’s the governmen’s job I can at least appreciate she is recognized the struggle. And also in this country with medicare paying for dr visits and medicaid covering some LTC it isn’t like that weird of an idea that the gov pays for it.
Her status quo statement being unacceptable seems to be in reference to being unable to get care that they need. I can agree with the holding back part that 100% as someone in the same position. Untreated health problems do you back when you miss work, are less productive and things like that. Again I don’t agree with her conclusion that it’s up to the government or that it’s unacceptable like they needs to be action forced on taxpayers but I think the whole article better explains where she is coming from. Getting good care even wtih great insurance can be very difficult too. I sure don’t like her using people’s struggles as an example to push what they are doing either.

This is true with a lot of liberal things, the problem they are talking about is real but they don’t see the root cause and /or have some crazed solution. We need to reubttal it with a conservative solution when they do present a real problem.

There are lot of dangerous type of anti-family types of people than her, I wouldn’t even consider her one of them. She seems the average well off woman that has never missed a dr’s appointment but is at least trying to understand what the some go through without access to care for chronic conditions. I think she is being honest and really does feel bad for those women she met. Of course she is wrong for pushing socialized medicine too but she brings up real problems.

The fundamental problem with Shelly's rationale

haystack Saturday, September 19th at 11:09AM EDT (link)

is this notion that making appointments, getting people to them, and worrying about finding the time and money to PAY for it all will somehow be alleviated by a Government run (or controlled) healthcare system.

I haven’t seen anything in the legislation that suggests Government is going to make our appointments for us, pick us up at our front door and get us TO them…and bring us back afterwards…let alone pay for all of it and remove us entirely from the process…without our having so much as a BILL in the mail to let us know how much it cost or how much we owe.

This “women are being crushed because it falls on THEM to ‘take care’ of everyone”is gibberish. First, men do these things too…second, Government is going to make us worry MORE…because of the layers of red tape and bureaucracy and rules and regs…

This is a blatant pander to bring “women’s issues” into the mix, hoping to get enough women to sign on to ObamaCare to make it law. And, btw, “women” could do with a better spokesperson for their issues than this woman.

Michelle misses the point about "women's issues"

penguin2 Saturday, September 19th at 1:15PM EDT (link)

Something about that woman grates on me, a woman. Her trotting out the woman victimhood meme demeans women. Compared to what I see happening to men in this country, (white men in particular), I’d say women are not nearly as bad off as she and the Dems describe. They are only doing this to keep their gender warfare going.

There is no opportunity denied to women in this country. Once education issues were resolved decades ago, women have been able to pursue anything they want to. The statistics prove it. Today, women outnumber men enrolled in college. Women are dominating the medical school enrollment and they are already over 75% of enrollment in Veterinarian schools. This is all easily available information via Google.

It is about choices. I have children, I made that choice, I have the responsibility to care for those children. Of course, the help I received from my husband was a million times appreciated, but to blame society for not doing it all for me is beyond reason.

Michelle, being an elitist from day one, obviously believes that everyone should wait on her. I don’t see her giving up one darn thing to make another woman or for that matter, a man’s life easier. That’s what wrong with having an Aristocracy, they trot out their feel sorry for the masses, and tuck it away until it’s time to scam the people again.

From the 1970’s forward, middle class white women ate the lunches of all the young black men who expected to better advance in the culture on the heels of the civil rights movement. As they demonstrated from the beginning, the collectivists simply moved the ball to another cup and kept on playing the game. Black men saw the biggest cultural decline they had ever known since the arrival of European slave ships off the coast of Africa.
