How Much Would *You* Pay, Per Dead Baby, To Get Healthcare Passed?

And to think, it only cost Stupak $.61 a head to turn HIS back on the unborn.

Let’s start here:

Three airports in the district of infamous fence-sitting and ultimately kowtowing Democrat Bart Stupak were awarded $726,409 in grants by the Obama Administration just two days before a vote on Obama and Pelosi’s government takeover of healthcare.

Separate, and independent, source here.

The math? Oh…well, Stupak got $726,409 big ones for his never-used airports in exchange for allowing Obama to use Federal dollars to kill babies…and we average 1.2 million of those executions per year. I just divided one by the other… I’m being generous-I expect that 1.2 million number will go up dramatically once everyone ELSE (you and I) will be paying for it.

Now, back in the day, even John Murtha got pretty airport fixups…but at least he sold out the American people for MUCH more. And…to Okinawa Jack’s credit…he, at least, didn’t sacrifice the unborn on the altar of Federal gluttony to get it done. Stupak got much less cash, but his body count will go beyond the pale. Bart’s faux defense of the unborn notwithstanding, a few hundred thousand dollars just got offered up to make his conscience disappear…and pretty up a few of his OWN unused airports while you and I will now be made to PAY for the death Stupak just gave Obama permission to perpetuate.

It’s ok though…at least we’ll be discouraging people from getting artificial tans by taxing the hell out of them. I know, I know-we’ll kill babies along the way, but hey-at least the people we DON’T kill won’t be getting skin cancer without paying top dollar to do so.

There’s that at least.

    It can only get better.
    I hope.

That is the term for someone who gives themselves the right to misbehave after doing some good or moral thing.

I believe that by substituting a good thing (airport, EO maybe), for a bad thing (abortion), Stupak may believe he is still acting laterally, therefore still moral.

But it is not integrity. Persons of integrity do not compromise. Bart did not have his priorities in line when he made his announcement to the nation last fall and recently his stand on abortion. When you threaten, you cannot back down without surrendering the core requirement of good character, integrity.

If you are going to threaten to quit unless you get a raise, you better be willing to do so.

Congressmen should not act like children. Voters whose congressman behaves like one should be relieved of that priviledge.

…the tanning tax. Talk about arbitrary(?!?)

And doesn’t it hit the light-skinned population disproportionately? One might even be inclined to consider it, dare I say, racist?

Mostlu only people of northen persuasion are going to pay for tanning
      Some don’t need tanning.

that the EO Obama drafted in order to get Stupak to cave was not signed today, along with the healthcare deform bill. Major Garrett of Fox News said his White House sources told him it would be signed “soon“.

Stupak declares this EO to be equivalnet to Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation:

“Throughout history, Executive Orders have been an important means of implementing public policy,” Stupak said in a statement. “The most famous Executive Order was the Emancipation Proclamation signed by President Lincoln in 1863.”

The Stupak-negotiated abortion executive order has drawn withering criticism from pro-life groups. Stupak called the attacks “disingenuous.”

?This Executive Order has the full force and effect of law and makes very clear that current law of no public funding for abortion applies to the new health care reform legislation,” Stupak’s statement said.

The White House contends the executive order merely re-states existing law under the Hyde amendment that prohibits direct federal funding of abortion through Medicaid.

Yeah, whatever, Bart. Tell me, Congressman, are you holding your breath as you wait for the EO to be signed? Betcha turn blue before that happens.

Doesn’t this affect one particular race disproportionately?

Due to this, Stupak is either…

    (1) just a lying, conniving, and slimy politician who was never really pro-life. He just pretended to be pro-life as a ‘ruse’ to beat Republicans in a swing district

    –OR–

    (2) really DOES believe that abortion is murder, but willing to support murder if paid the right price.

Take your pick. He can only be one or the other. In many ways, this is worse and more evil than a pro-abortion liberal Democrat voting their convictions.

If the former, Stupak disenfranchised the will of the voters in his district by perpetrating fraud upon them. They would probably have voted for someone different had they known he didn’t really mean it when he said he was pro-life. If the latter, then he doesn’t mind supporting murder if the price is right.

Stupak might just be a man without core convictions who says whatever gains him the most attention and approval, what his audience wants to hear. Sort of like Bill Clinton, of whom it was said that “He believes ever word he says, when he says it.”

Since in the camera-phone video he didn’t realize was being made at his townhall last year, he told his audience he could support the bill without his amendment just as long as he got a vote on the amendment – if it went down, it went down, he did what he could, I suspect this was always in the cards. Stupak never intended to buck the Party if he got a little attention (and approval from back home and pro-life donors everywhere) along the way. He got much more than he ever dreamed of having, including being on news channels constantly for weeks on end.

Obama could make Stupak kiss his butt on the White House lawn to get that EO signed, but it would just be gilding the lily.

Stupak is correct, though, in one aspect of comparing this EO to the Emancipation Proclamation: neither had any practical effect at all. Lincoln “freed” only the slaves in states in rebellion, where he had no power anyway. Obama can’t and won’t supersede the legislation. Lincoln, however, sent a powerful symbolic message to the world with his EO, while Obama is offering empty symbolism as cover for craven cowards to clutch as they dread the wages of their deeds.

In a twist of Obamic irony, the Executive Order was NOT signed yesterday. Stupak, ever obedient, thinks the boyfriend-who-lies-and-cheats-about-everything will come around soon. He just knows it. He can’t be all that bad. He loves me; he’s just confused.

What a moron. His district should be receiving their mail-order tar and feather kits any day now. He didn’t just sell out his constituency; he sold his soul to Obama.
