Bully For Barack

I’m especially pleased to announce this morning that Obama has made 15 recess appointments. Honestly, I’m not all that concerned with who these people are NOR do I care about what they’ve been given a temp assignment to do. I’m sure these things matter to the right people in the right circles though. More’s the pity for them, I suppose.

What does deserve note, however, is Obama’s attitude about it:

“I simply cannot allow partisan politics to stand in the way of the basic functioning of government,” said Obama, who days ago signed historic healthcare reform despite bitter Republican opposition.
[snip]
“At a time of economic emergency, two top appointees to the Department of Treasury have been held up for nearly six months,” Obama said in a statement.

Really Mr. Obama? Isn’t it your own party’s partisanship that brings you to this revelation? Is there any partisanship greater than that enjoyed by you this morning?

We can all remember poor George W. Bush being taken down by a minority over his own nominations…and now, like Bush, Obama faces down his opposing minority and does for them what they refuse to do on their own. Apparently, Bush did 170 recess appointments and Bubba Slickster did nearly 140 during his time in office. THAT is not the story here, regardless how the media will play this out. The story here is that Obama is finally admitting he’s done with trying to get along with his opposition. It’s ok…the truth will set you free!

Especially given the in-your-face partisanship from the Democrats, can we finally put this “why can’t we all just get along” nonsense to rest, and get on about the business of digging our political foxholes and accumulating our punditry armaments? A dear friend of mine might say here that it’s time to draw the political long knives, and I think that sums it up fairly well. This is a war, not only of ideas, but of Political will.

Dear Leader has shown his hand. The Right needs to get down to business now, and make ready for taking back the majority in the Fall. As has been said, Obama’s going to NEED a GOP majority if there’s going to be any kind of legacy for him to be proud of…and we’ve got about 7 months to make that happen for him.

Ain’t it a great time to be an American?

VizBiz (Diary) Sunday, March 28th at 11:02AM EDT (link)

I guess if you’re an Obama Zombie it is. But for the patriot’s of this country, it’s hell on earth.

Runs with scissors, walks with Wacom.

Wouldn't it have been a great time to be

davesinsanantonio (Diary) Monday, March 29th at 8:35AM EDT (link)

an American just after Thomas Paine published his pamphlet about sunshine soldiers and sunshine patriots? This is such a time. We should be happy to be Americans, and we should be invigorated as conservatives that the electorate is finally coming alive after sleeping through much of the last century. We should take a deep breath, put a huge grin on our faces and get to work. We should feel alive with the possibilities of the political game and should want to be in the fray.

Typical

bazinga Sunday, March 28th at 11:03AM EDT (link)

Seems that all presidents of the modern era have been making recess appointments. Typical of the gridlock in Washington, regardless of what party is in power.

Not exactly

rsjt Sunday, March 28th at 11:29AM EDT (link)

It has not been “typical” for past presidents to surround themselves with or creaet appoinments of people who see the Constitution and individual freedoms as a hinderance. That is entirely new and something the current administration’s apologists need to be forced to explai, because it can’t be defended.

Are you surprised?

kirk53 Sunday, March 28th at 11:52AM EDT (link)

Obama currently has 217 nominees pending and 77 awaiting action on the Senate floor. These include critical positions that relate to the economy and to our national security. Republicans have been nothing but obstructionist since he stepped foot in the White House and have worked hard at trying to stop anything he wants done.

I’m glad to see that having Health Care pass gave Obama some renewed confidence. The Dems squandered their “super majority” by trying to play nice with a side that can’t be reasoned with. The kids gloves should come off now.

Obstructing?

rsjt Sunday, March 28th at 12:08PM EDT (link)

The American people have just started to obstruct the administration’s radical agenda. There are very few who are not now aware of how radical that agenda is. I’ve known it long enough to have fought against his original Senatorial run. He is a classic collectivist/socialist and if he does not moderate he will find himself further opposed by his own party. Bipartisan obstructionism will become the administration’s biggest challange.

The kids gloves should come off now.

izoneguy (Diary) Sunday, March 28th at 12:11PM EDT (link)

They will – the GOP will start beating Barry to a bloody pulp…
at least Jim DeMint & Paul Ryan will….

But to appoint Craig Becker AFTER he was already rejected in the Senate on a bi-partisian vote is beyond the pale.

Republicans will be nothing but obstructionist’s now that Barry has shown his dictatorship tendencies.

Those who had once simpered: “I don’t want to destroy the rich, I only want to seize a little of their surplus to help the poor, just a little, they’ll never miss it!” – then, later, had snapped: “The tycoons can stand being squeezed; they’ve amassed enough to last them for three generations” – then, later, had yelled: “Why should the people suffer while businessmen have reserves to last a year?” – now were screaming: “Why should we starve while some people have reserves to last a week?” – Atlas Shrugged

Dictator?

bazinga Sunday, March 28th at 1:21PM EDT (link)

Using recess appointments is hardly a symptom of dictatorship. It’s a common tactic by both R and D presidents.

Also, if Republicans had been successful in derailing HCR, I don’t see how Obama would have just installed in unilaterally. If it had been defeated, it would have been dead. A serious blow to the Democrats, but our republic in action, a far cry from a dictatorship.

I’m new here..what does this mean?

Does anyone who posts anything questioning/critical of what is written end up getting banned? I ask because I enjoy real political debate, without name calling or ad hominem attacks.

We lay the case out daily for...

mschmitt (Diary) Sunday, March 28th at 1:31PM EDT (link)

… the dictatorial style tactics that this administration engages in. He dictated the terms of executive compensation for private companies. He dictated the current health bill with unanimous opposition from the minority party and overwhelming opposition from the American people. He used a recess appointment to get a guy in who was voted down with a bipartisan vote in the Senate.

You may think its ad hominem, you may find it unpleasant, but it is dictatorial conduct.

Obama appointed Craig Becker AFTER he was already rejected in the Senate.

Please show me where Bush appointed someone AFTER they were rejected.

I think recess appointments should be banned. Period.

http://www.examiner.com/x-5738-Political-Buzz-Examiner~y2010m3d27-President-Obama-makes-recess-appointments-in-response-to-Republican-opposition

When President Bush was in office he also used recess appointments to overcome the opposition of Democrats at the time. Eventually Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) never adjourned the Senate keeping them in a state of perpetual session so as to prevent any future recess appointments.

The problem for Republicans is that they can not use this trick since they do not have a majority in the Senate like Senator Reid did. Eventually Sen. Reid struck a deal with President Bush allowing many of his nominees to be voted on in exchange for a promise to not use any recess appointments. President Obama may be looking for the same kind of deal with Republicans.

http://alphapatriot.com/flashback-obama-on-bush-recess-appointments/

Flashback: Obama on Bush Recess Appointments

Think back a short time. Republicans controlled the White House and the Social Democrats where widely known as “The Party of No.”

It’s August 2005 and Bush just made James Bolton the UN Ambassador during a Congressional recess:

“To some degree, he’s damaged goods,” said Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. “I think that means we’ll have less credibility and, ironically, be less equipped to reform the United Nations in the way that it needs to be reformed.”

It’s April 2007 and Bush just made a recess appointment that made Sam Fox the Ambassador to Belgium. Fox was being blocked by Social Democrats because he gave $50,000 to support commercials against presidential candidate John Kerry. Senator Obama had this to say:

It’s disappointing that President Bush would defy the will of Congress by appointing Sam Fox Ambassador to Belgium. I opposed Mr. Fox’s nomination because I had serious concerns about his candor, judgment, and qualifications for this important post. Appointing nominees that are opposed by a majority in Congress simply because they are political cronies is old style politics at its worst. Our nation’s ambassadors should possess strong credibility and character so that they may effectively represent U.S. interests overseas, and I don’t think President Bush applied that test with this recess appointment.

So I’ll ask you as I have others.

When is enough enough? At what point do you think we have enough entitlements and why do you hate our consitution? How has it hurt you?

Don’t be shy about it.

Runs with scissors, walks with Wacom.

Fair and Unfair question

bazinga Sunday, March 28th at 1:24PM EDT (link)

Fair enough to ask about the entitlements, but asking “why do you hate the constitution” just makes you sound unreasonable. Like asking “when did you stop beating your wife?”

Perhaps a little jab there

VizBiz (Diary) Sunday, March 28th at 1:32PM EDT (link)

But do you disagree that the so-called liberals are out to destroy it?

Runs with scissors, walks with Wacom.

The Constitition

bazinga Sunday, March 28th at 1:37PM EDT (link)

I don’t think anyone is out to “destroy” the constitution. I think throwing that accusation around detracts from real political discourse. It’s the same as someone asking “Why do you hate America?” It does nothing to further real discussions of the issues. No one “hates” the constitution and no one “hates” America. There are disagreements. We can talk about them, but throwing these epithets around is EXACTLY the best way to avoid those discussions.

Well then .....

VizBiz (Diary) Sunday, March 28th at 1:48PM EDT (link)

Let’s talk about it. Apparently our constitution states that everyone is entitled to whatever they want as long as they can garner the votes.

Where is the limit???

I’m happy to see you come in here and tout your guy’s successes…that’s cool-but be careful about throwing the obstructionist screed around to tightly.

Obama’s confidence was not renewed by getting HCR done. It was sustained by it and now he fancies himself able to do whatever he wants-AGAIN-despite the normal deliberative ways in which Congress was supposed to function before he was sworn in.

Obama’s failure to get his appointments through a 60-vote majority Senate, with at least two “mortal lock” minority votes (Snow and Collins) for far-left candidates, plus McCain and Graham ‘strong maybes’ for left-but-almost-reasonable candidates, CANNOT be attributed to “Republican obstructionism.”

His nominations are not just “outside the mainstream,” some are effectively being nominated for spots where there is a clear conflict of interest (such as the NLRB slot for an SEIU boss). Only Democrat senators unwilling to flagrantly rubber-stamp this Administration’s determination to neutralize Constitutional safeguards could have “obstructed” these confirmations.

The shame is that the Obama honeymoon lasted long enough to push through so many bad appointments.

Time to starve Liberal businesses

Quote: “I love ALL Liberal programs but I hate paying the taxes for them ,so I limit my income [My relative has a small ad buying company).

…..it’s time to starve them.
If they expect US to pay these taxes, but hate paying them, then we stop using them. Accountants, restaurants/delis, lawyers, mechanics, lawn-care—-anything! Microsoft (buy a used computer), General Motors (buy a used Chevy Suburban).

OBAMA said it’s us vs. them. Liberals believe that only white Republicans should pay taxes. I’m not kidding. My in-laws believe the same thing. They’re nuts.

Let’s stick together and fire the first blow—-to them!! LIBERALS hate paying taxes, well the heck with them.

There’s 20% of them—there’s 40% of us and then some.

Starve the base.

I will root out all people who get my money and find out where they stand.
Last year it was small-med sized businesses who wrote in that they will see who has an Obama sticker on their car and they will be the first to be laid off.

Now it’s time to show our support for Conservatives and Conservative businesses.

I have been doing this for years, only makes sense. I quit the Macon Telegraph because of that, I have changed Docs, and on and on, etc. Why support someone who has the same opinions about our Country that Barack does? He is a crook, and has surrounded himself with Axelrod and Rahm, so are you surprised? They don’t do anything ethical. I am glad the Repubs finally figured out they are at war so maybe now they’ll start looking at things a little more objectively instead of holding their breath and think that possibly there might be some bi-partisanship in Obama and his gang. Ain’t going to happen folks. He is out to destroy this Country, re-distribute the wealth, and the next thing he’s going to do now that he’s stuck healthcare down our thoats is get amnesty granted. Then he’ll have all those millions of voters on his side. ACORN doesn’t care whether they can speak English or not as long as they can sign a Spanish X. Obama is the biggest liar and crook that has ever been elected President of this Country and we better get rid of him. He can, will and already has done grave damage. More is yet to come I assure you.

Obama has made it clear.......

ale2x8 Sunday, March 28th at 2:04PM EDT (link)

That in addition to foregoing any attempt at bi-partisanship, he has signaled his willingness to be a Kamikazee president if necessary. No doubt he would like a second term but he has also made it absolutely clear he will push his progressive agenda just as far as possible, while he can, with an “in your face” attitude. Even normal Democrats, if there are any, are going to be fair targets if they try to impede this president in any way. The party of JFK and Hubert Humphrey is now officially dead.

Common_Cents (Diary) Sunday, March 28th at 2:30PM EDT (link)

I go back and forth on this on who is responsible. Is it the radical left or the rest of us allowing it to happen? I’ve concluded its both.

American voters for being duped(granted they were outright deceived by Obamao and his komrades in the lame stream media, but they didn’t do their own due diligence) and the GOP leadership falling for the playing of bipartisan pattycake all these years. They did not recognize that war was being waged on them 24/7. GOP fell for the guilt trip of being in power and were marginalized and sidetracked from a implementing a conservative agenda.

If this outright declaration of political war by the Obamao admin and all its left wing useful idiots doesn’t wake the GOP leadership up(or serve as a catalyst for new leadership), nothing will.

The GOPs’ collective noses should be rubbed into this Obama Admin POS along with the voters, so they never forget a lesson in phony bipartisanship and candidate due diligence respectively.

Especially when a majority is won back. It’s going to take a great coordinated effort to get this country back on track once that happens. I’m afraid without new conservative leadership we’d just go back to the old collegial ways.

I do have new optimism with the growing conservative push, tea parties etc.. and am confident that when Americans get some real facts they can make much better decisions for themselves and the country. I pledge to continue to make an effort on local committees to do what I can.

The fact of matter is that the country had a lot of issues such as the financial crisis, and that was before Obama came into office. So the back on track thing is not something I am buying. I am a Libertarian and I am, not giving either party a pass on the mess we are in.

I don’t think that Bush was a true conservative in any shape or fashion, in that I look at all the things he put on the company credit card. We don’t have to get into what he spent money on we were all there and we know what he did.

The fact is when conservatives have a chance to put a true conservative at the top of the ticket what happens, you always go conservative light. It is time to place the blame where it belongs, never mind what the Libs are doing you opened yourself to the medicine you are taking know.

If you want a conservative to run that’s fine, but all I have been seeing is conservatives talking a good game and then once they walk into D.C. they say and do different. Look at Brown and what he is about already and he just got there. Give him a year and see where he stands.

I also understand that what I said before still stands, which wasn’t disputed in that conservative light still seems to win the day when it comes right down to it. I can’t believe that Mccain was the best republicans could do, once he changed his message he was cooked.

Everything Liberal will now be boycotted

gwalt Sunday, March 28th at 4:49PM EDT (link)

I won’t/don’t watch anything NBC. Since they are using set top boxes for viewing data, I try to keep it on FNC or Food Network even when the TV’s are off..

No Liberal rag paper (AJC).
No new cars from Chrysler (I have owned 5 Jeeps and a Durango).

I will ask my accountant and attorney who they support—-point blank if I have to. If I don’t like what I hear—-I am going to find a Patriot to represent me and my business.
I asked my painter who he likes—-CHECK! He’s good.

Partnered with a contractor a few months ago. He likes Obama—gone.

Just struck a partnership with another guy who supports this country the way it was founded. A Patriot.

I sent around an e-mail to support a local car wash because a woman came in and demanded her money back because she said he was a racist (the owner) for having Fox News Channel on. Scr** her and support the owner!!

No CNN—ever–(sorry Erick).

We need to support our own. We didn’t want it this way.

BARACK does!!

Remember—-this is our way of turning Alinsky on them.

So if you can’t go Galt—-go Alinsky!!

can we just get recess appointments banned?

horseshowfreak Sunday, March 28th at 6:39PM EDT (link)

i thought the constitution forbids recess appointments. i say we have the supreme court rule on it. they’re the one branch where we can count on for the chance of a fair outcome. of course, once we get back in power we’re going to have to deal with a block of liberal mainstream congresscritters and then we’re going to want to be able to do recess appointments of our own. in that case it’s possible the supreme court would permit them because the people being appointed if we were doing the appointing would be pro-america and pro-constitution. there’s a big difference between an anti-american possibly-muslim president making recess appointments and a god-fearing pro-american president making them..

Article 2, Section 2

davesinsanantonio (Diary) Monday, March 29th at 9:08AM EDT (link)

allows recess appointments. But, if we get a majority in both houses, we can de-fund the agency to which they are appointed. Albeit, Obama might veto if it is one of his close buddies. However, considering how many of those he has already thrown under the bus, good old Chicago politics, he may not.

Recess appointments are expressly permitted...

rbdwiggins (Diary) Sunday, March 28th at 7:23PM EDT (link)

under the Constitution of the United States.

Article II, Section 2, Clause 2.

“The President shall have Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the End of their next Session.”

Note: Religious discrimination is expressly forbidden.

That’s Article II, Section 2, Clause 3.

I met this woman at the RedState meetup in Atlanta. I believe they have now partnered with someone who maintains a list of Patriots that we can support when we shop and such. Might help us out.

I’m so behind this I’m going to do something extremely hard. I’ve had 4 skin cancers, I go in every 6 months and damn if they don’t find another one. I feel like Raggedy Ann!

Anyhoo, my point is the day after obama’s election this office that I go to was cheering and crowing while patients were having surgeries. I live in a very RED county, so they were pissing off a bunch of their patients. But they simply didn’t care.

I’ve gone back cause the one who takes care of me didn’t say anything. I dearly love her cause I know she has saved my life.
My next appt is in in April. I’m going to ask flat out how she feels about the health care bill. I’m praying to god that they have seen what an abomination this has become… but if not.

I’m going to look for a new doc, in a county that has huge waiting lists, cause I just can’t support them and once I leave I will let them know.

Because of things like this. Because we have fundamental differences of opinion about many issues. Because the people who elect us don’t want us to act like the people they didn’t elect. Because Democrats have a Jackass as their mascot for good reason.

they do have an ass for a reason.
All that comes out of them is….. uh…. crap.
Yea, thats it.
Crap!

They say Republicans are for the rich, Democrats are for the poor.
If they need more voters,
then they have to make more of who they are for.

We are there in the various Tea Party groups, leaderless, but not rudderless.
