“You guys make a pretty good photo op,”

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/11/19/AR2009111900904_pf.html

My anger at this president has been steadily burning and I think it started with the first bow to the Saudi’s.  That was a match to this fire.  Commanders do not bow to equals.

Fuel was added when he discounted the tea party protests, both by his supposed ignorance and then his sexual innuendos.  The flames were being fanned.  Commanders do not insult their followers, even if they don’t agree with them.

The repeated disrespect demonstrated by this individual in the highest office towards our National Anthem and our Flag — the Flag which has been in numerous battles, which has seen much bloodshed for its protection — his continued disrespect continues to keep the flames of frustration and anger burning.

His inability to make a decision regarding the troop levels in Afghanistan, based on the information provided to him, at his request, by the military, simply kept those flames going.

The Ft. Hood massacre is another act of war.  That person’s inability to see the difference between an act of war and a criminal act does a great disservice to those of us who server.  And simply keeps those flames stoked.

Over the last five days, he’s turned the flames into a bonfire.  America does not bow. Commander-in-Chiefs do not bow.  Soldiers did not join the military to be props to an egomaniac’s photo-shoot.   Soldiers join to protect family, friends, and the Constitution — the foundation of America.

The actions, the lack of action, and his comments are not those of a commander, nor a leader.

I’m freaking infuriated.

Waxman drops a 300pg amendment on Cap-n-Trade

Thanks to hotair for pointing this out in one of its updated blogs..

The text of the amendment is  http://www.rules.house.gov/111/SpecialRules/hr2998/waxman1_hr2998_111.pdf

What I have so far found interesting begins on page 27:

14 “SEC. 216B. SITING AND CONSTRUCTION IN THE WESTERN
15 INTERCONNECTION.
16 “(a) APPLICABILITY.-This section applies only to
17 States located in the Western Interconnection and does
18 not apply to States located in the Eastern Interconnection,
19 to the States of Alaska or Hawaii, or to ERCOT.

And from my understanding, that if a utility company doesn’t get permission to build on a site locatedanywhere within that ‘Western Interconnection’, the Federal commission may trump the state and theconstruction could proceed.   Just another reason, one of many, to vote no on this fertilizer.

And why only the western states?  (which I’m assuming includes CA/OR/WA, and not simply the right leaning ones).

Shocking kids for fun & politics

So a FL cop is fired for shocking two children during a ‘Take our Sons and Daughters’ to work day.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,518712,00.html

Maybe if the FL cop had only shocked one child he’d still have his job.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alaska_Public_Safety_Commissioner_dismissal#Taser_incident

Where is the outrage from the D’s?  The cops should both have their jobs because in all cases the tasings were consensual. Snork.

2nd amendment under attack - H.R. 45

Blair Holt’s Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009 (Introduced in House)

It didn’t take long for the ruling party to introduce this legislation again.  Now with their “I won” mentality, this has a better chance of passing unless the R’s and some blue dogs get up in arms.

disturbing observations and questions

At NC State there is, or was, a tunnel aptly named “The Free Expression Tunnel”. This
spot was the one location on campus where graffiti was permitted. There are two similar,
yet different, versions of some late-night graffiti: WRAL and the News and Observer

There isn’t any “borderline” threatening speech when directed towards a selected president. It either is, or is not threatening, and in which case, the Secret Service should be involved. And on the other hand, name calling and “negativity” has been occuring in that tunnel since its inception — and when encountered by someone who was “offended”,
it was painted over by the persons who took offense.

I wonder how many times GWB has been called names, or threatened with violence, in that tunnel. How many “negative” comments were made towards him? I wonder about the demonstrations antiwar protesters hold, and their activities and their abilities of free speech compared to what will be permitted over the next 4 years. How are they going to define “hate speech” versus “political expression” ?

Vegas & Kabul

memories

I landed in Kabul August of 2003. My first trip to Vegas was about July/August of 2006.
When I was flying into vegas, the surroundings reminded me of the mountains surrounding kabul. The only difference was that when we landed in Kabul, everyone was grabbing their
magazines and locking and loading. We were warned to not step off the tarmac. Both cities
were, and are, much more crowded than what I had been used to in North Carolina.
When I went for a morning run in vegas, the smell of human waste and trash was strikingly more similar to Kabul, although not nearly as bad as the smell of Bagram. I cherish my memories of Afghanistan — even the disgusting smells of the country side — but then I have
the ruler of even more disgusting smells within other areas of Bagram.
When I was in Afghanistan, the people I met reinforced my belief that we were doing the
right thing. The schools which were, and are, being built - the infrastructure which is slowly being developed — steps towards a more productive and stable country — were supported, from those I met, with much welcome. In some cases, songs of praise — such
as a patrol I was on in October of 2003 near Ghazni… a UN supported (yes they are good
for some things) school took about an hour to talk with those of us on a PRT mission near
Ghazni and sang us a song of appreciation… Got the thing on tape..
We knew we were doing the right thing — today, that area is one of the hottest areas of
the region…It started getting cold… the winds here in Vegas remind me of the winds we
had started feeling over there…
People over here just don’t get how much freedom we have; they do not understand the nature
of the enemy which wishes to destroy those freedoms. About the only thing that reminds me
that Vegas is -not- Afghanistan is the amount of skin our women display. Thank God for
American women and American Freedoms.
I’m rambling. Basically, I miss serving in Afghanistan. I’m damn thankful for protecting
our way of life; and I wish that people would not only be grateful for, but recognize, the
amount of freedom and choice we have in our society, and most eespecially recognize the
extent to which our enemy will go to deny humanity those freedoms.
